SUMMERTIME....

GO HERE
TO LEAVE A COMMENT ON THE GIVEAWAY POST !!
GOOD LUCK !
************************************************************
Blues and whites, coupled with the bolder color of RED, is a classic combo of colors...
a lot of us here in Blogland LOVE that color combo......
*
I am LOVING doing these patriotic tables this time of year...
maybe because it's so easy since reds...blues...whites are all over my house
and in my dishes.!! :)
*
I do these tables a lot throughout the summer....
they just seem like SUMMERTIME colors to me.!!
**

I love SILVER, WHITE and BLUES together...
and I love using flags and other patriotic items during the entire year...
especially in the good ole summertime !
*

I found this wine bucket at SALVATION ARMY thrift shoppe the other day...
nothing fancy but.....I love it...of course..it is JUST FOR LOOKS...
I keep our bottles of wine in the fridge..
The bucket WOULD look really nice, filled with ICE and a tasty bottle of wine for company sometime....
*
*

Remember my new "thrifted" creamy white dining chairs that I FELL IN LOVE WITH.....
Well.....I am STILL in love !
These little birdie S&P's go so good with my other silver....
*

I would love to have a set of RED TRANSFER WARE someday...
I have 2 different sets of the blue and white...and daughter, STACY LEIGH,
has her grandmother's ENORMOUS set of BROWN and WHITE from England.
*
But, I am Red transferwareless...

**

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Isn't it funny how some color combinations NEVER go out of style...that are CLASSIC....
I do love some of the new colors...and have been known to buy things in FAD colors.....
but when it comes to DISHES....I try to stay pretty much in the classic range.
**
I have never bought a complete set of really NICE, NEW dishes...
the ones I have were bought at ESTATE sales, thrift stores...yard sales.
**
I have been very lucky, indeed, to find 3 sets of vintage dishes
that are what I consider VERY NICE.
All three have been discontinued and the pieces I find for them are quite expensive...
HOWEVER.....
...since I stay pretty close in color range..I can mix and match and
I LOVE DOING THAT...
*
A niece made this sweet towel for me about 40 years ago
and I'll bet she might be surprised that it looks this nice
after that long....:)
I hand wash it and line dry it so the colors have been retained.
It's one of those pieces that I just love because...
'it's the little things !!"
*
Now it's time for an after dinner
TEA and COOKIES
*
The little tiny teapot is the one I found at GOODWILL...
the one I keep using TEA after DELICIOUS TEA....*sigh.....
The blue and white dishes from a flea market...
*
I love these cookies...and buy them every chance I get.
I've found I can keep them in the freezer and they stay nice and fresh....sometimes, I have to hide them from myself AND Mr. Sweet so I'll have some the NEXT tea time...
HOWEVER, when our sweet tooth is aching for CHOCOLATE, we ALWAYS find those cookies...
Oh, well...the market has packages and packages of them, anyway!! ;-)
*
MOSAIC for MARY ....be sure to go over and see her and all the other beautiful photos....
*
*
Lots of BLUES for SMILING SALLY...and she has a list of
a LOT more blues...
I am on the search for another pretty tea set...
I am SO running out of room to keep them...
if only i had a DISH closet like SHELIA... heavy sigh.....
It is hard to beat a red, white and blue combination. Your tables are always so pretty...I'm not sure that it matters if the dishes are a new complete set or vintage pieces picked up along the way...it is in the love that inspires the table don't you think?
I love your tea and table settings BJ...I am a big fan of red, white and blue too. I am lucky enough to have a set of 4 blue transferware plates and 4 red trasferware plates, so I mix and match them when I have more than 4 people over....
Those cookies look really good!
Penny
Like Linda I would love to know what kind of cookies those are. You are so right about the transfer patterns. If you can find them, they are so expensive. The dealers know what people want. Beautiful tablescape.
It looks so nice, BJ, and I love blue and white, too. There is some really cute china that I saw at K-Mart (and they have it online) that are red and white chickens that say in a little banner over them, "Good Food. Good Friends." I don't know if it's considered transferware or not, but it is CUTE.
Hope you'll drop by and enter my giveaway, too.
XO,
Sheila :-)
Yes, I do still get Victoria magazine. When it was reissued I was standing in line at the grocery right by a magazine rack and I looked over and saw it. I grabbed it up in a fast motion stared at it looked around and thought this can't be it is a new Victoria! I always love it to come in the mail.
I love red white and blue in the summer too, and your table setting is so serene and beautiful. DId I tell you I was inspired by your blue transferware to start collecting some? I pick up plates here and there a bit at a time. Not enough to set a table with yet, but they may end up on the walls:>) Can you pass me some of those cookies?
BJ,
I just adore your Patriotic tablescape!!
I love the fact that you used silver with it!
I participate every year in a Hostess Tea at our church where each hostess does a theme table for her guests. I usually do 2-3 tables for 20-30 guests and it is so hard to find 20-30 things all the same so this year, I decided to do 2 tables but each in a different theme. One is going to be a Patriotic table using red and blue transferware. I will definitely be adding silver accents ti it after seeing how lovely your looks!!
Thanks for the inspiration!!
Debbie
