SUMMER TIME.....don't we love it !
Remember, back in the winter, I bought this awesome J.C. PENNEY red and white quilt...
THAT called for a re-painting of the whole, entire bedroom....
To me, this quilt HAD to have soft golden yellow walls...

Loved it all...cozy...comfy...
BUT
when summertime came along, I opted for lighter, brighter, easy to care for bedding..
No heavy quilts...don't even want them in SIGHT..
no siree !! TOO HOT..

Some of you understand that I am on a tight SOCIAL SECURITY budget so any new bedding was out of the question....totally...don't even GLANCE in the direction of new bedding at the stores!!

SOOO, I just took off the heavy quilt I "threw back" each night...
Added some of my brick red sheets...
folded the green and white quilt from the guest room at the foot...
Took away a lot of the pillows and added the floral ones that match that green and white quilt !
Not a HUGE change....and if I find another little whimsical pillow to use instead of the bunny, I'll put him up until the coldness of winter arrives out here in West Texas.. a few more months left before that happens.
I think one thing that I love so much about
SWEET NOTHINGS RED
is that it goes with every single color I have tried to put with it.
I adore the summer green and white with the redness of the sheets...

I love being able to take anything at all from one room in my cottage to another and it works.
The clothes in my closet are a lot like that...a lot of mix and match and very few dresses...
I opt more for skirts, pants and tops that can be interchanged. I developed that habit, I'm sure, when I was working and needed lots of different looks.
Same way with the colors in my cottage....I love being able to MIX AND MATCH..

Hey Pretty Lady, oh if I had only half the talent you have when it comes to being a homemaker. That bedroom is just beautiful. I love red too, but only have it at Christmas time. :(.... And your table settings could be in a magazine.

You say that it is a small change, but I think that it really packs a punch:)
I am the same way with my clothes and most of my house, everything can be switched and matched easily. I like it like that because when nothing is static and just like you did, a simple switheroo makes a big difference.
Aw, it looks great, BJ! I never even MAKE my bed, much less buy pretty things for it. Then again, after 16 years of marriage I still don't even have a bedroom SET so why bother? Waaaaaaaa! Now I'm depressed!

I do like the summery look, BJ! I think we're all on more of a budget these days. And "shopping the house" is one of my very favorite things to do. I also have the same colors throughout the house so that when I get bored with something in one room, it goes into another! You have such a beautiful home and great taste!

Hi BJ, I love your summer look. My mother always did that and she used some sheets too. South Fl. was so hot in the summer. In fact my mother was constantly changing everything in our house. She mixed and matched it all. She was a great decorator just like you. I try, but sometimes I fall short. That's when I go to my blog and yell HELP.
