The Origin of The Brownie
Born In The Early 20th Century...In Boston?
The brownie, one of America’s favorite baked treats, was born in the U.S.A.—we just aren’t quite sure where—although evidence points to New England in the first few years of the 20th century. Although cake-like and baked in a cake pan, the brownie is classified as a bar cookie rather than a cake. There are thousands of recipes
both “cake” types and “fudge” types. Either is perfectly correct—and delicious. CAN YOU BELIEVE IT ?

I love a great brownie recipe! Does anyone have one without calories, or sugar, or fat, or carbs?
I just made Brownies with peanut butter filling. Had no idea this was brownie month.
nice blog
I do love brownies and only make them for a function. We tend to keep the lid open on the brownie container, they are so good. I always use the mix, tried one recently that was double-chunk, yummy. Have a sweet day!

Brownies are my very favorite. There's nothing better!
Morning, Dear BJness! Oh, my favorite food - brownies! These look so good. I'm going to keep this recipe for myself! :)
Thanks for popping in to see me. I felt like going over and knocking the cap off Robert Duvall's head, but Mr. Precious wouldn't let me! :)
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
Looks like a whole lot of ooey gooey yumminess! I could eat chocolate every day of the week!
My absolute favorite!! I know I have to be careful when I make brownies as we could eat the whole pan at once! I just noticed that red glass with the lemon floating in it. Love it, and I've been looking for something similar. I kick myself for not buying some I saw like it in Paris. Sally
If I ate all the food I saw in blogland I would weigh 200 lbs!!!
YUMMY!!! virtual brownies are so much better for the waistline and yours looks amazing!!! I think I will take two;)!!!
Enjoy!!!
XOXO
Cathy

BJ, your mother-in-law's brownie recipe sounds delicious and looks like it would be easy to make. I'm going to print it and hope to make them this weekend when Avery comes to visit. She loves cooking with me.
Thank you so much for sharing your sweet mother-in-law's recipe.
Ohhhh! Brownies are a favorite of mine! I love them chewy and gooey. The are extra special with warm, with vanilla ice cream and hot fudge sauce on them...Ok, now I am drooling :-)

Stopping by from SITS! Oh my brownies are one of my favorite treats! Love your blog! Cant wait to get my own food blog up and going!
Stopping by from SITS to say hello! Love the brownie recipe. I'm not much of a baker, but my husband loves to fiddle around in the kitchen. This one might be a good one for him to try (and for me to enjoy!)
I'll take any excuse for brownies!!!
Just stopping by from SITS!
Does the word drool come to mind? Yes, I know you typed it in your blog post...but hey...that is a definite drool all over my face kinda blog!! Wowzers.
I love your blog! I will have to have my teenage girls try the recipe. They love making brownies and they love trying new recipes.
Blessings!
No one is too old to enjoy a brownie with a glass of milk! This is a treat for 'kids' of all ages!
A single cherry—
enough to sweeten a day
or even a life.
My Ruby Tuesday
Brownies=Heaven!
