♥ My Aunt Lillian

I have NO idea where I got this picture.
I stole it from someone because  it looks JUST LIKE a table in my
AUNT LILLIAN'S living room....
...over there.....
by those windows where the light poured in, giving her the natural light
she loved when she was painting

Aunt Lillian was my mother's older sister.
They lived in a little town in East Texas...
CORLEY, on a sharecroppers farm.

The family was about as poor as you could possibly get.

Aunt Lillian went to Dallas when she graduated from high school
and became a nurse.

She wore STARCHED, white nurses uniforms, snow white nursing shoes and hose and the cutest STARCHED, cotton nursing cap.

When she would be all ready to go to work at the hospital, I could hear her walking down our hall, her starched self just swishing.

She was so talented in so many ways...

could decorate a room right off the map...
cook like nobody's business...
write stories..she should have written a book....awesome imagination....

and PAINT
O how she could paint.

She didn't paint too many pictures and I gave mine to her BO.....his treasures.

She never had children of her own.
My mother wrote in my BABY BOOK that she was
"afraid Lillian is going to steal my baby girl away".....
Aunt Lillian was a second mother to me and spoiled me rotten.
She adopted a little boy named ORA DORMAN but she started right off calling him
BO
and BO it is to this very day.

My Aunt Lillian died many years ago at the young age of 59.
Heart !

I still miss her so much. She was a huge part of my life and when you love someone so much.....
and are lucky enough that they love you right back, you NEVER get over wishing they were right beside you.........this very minute.

I hope you all have a very
PINK SATURDAY

xoxo bj

My mother had an aunt named Lilian I remember taking a special expensive sidetrip to visit her on our way to California (I was 10 or so). She wasn't a nurse but my mother worked in the hospital and I have vivid memories of the nurses in their starched white uniforms, hats, and white nylons. It seems your Aunt Lilian has sparked all kinds of memories this evening! Thanks for sharing and I shall go to bed dreaming of childhood memories! Blessings to you!!

I absolutely LOVE this post! You're aunt sounds like a wonderful, wonderful lady! My mother also loved to draw. I have some of her pieces here and I gave one to my brother. I loved seeing that coffee mug full of brushes. I have Mom's here from her house. It's full of all her art pencils. I warned my girls not to touch it! Lol..
Thank you for sharing a bit of your aunt with us!
Have a great weekend!

Your Aunt was clearly a wonderful woman who left a great legacy in her love toward you, her son and others . How wonderful to be remembered with such fondness. It speaks loudly for the kind of person she must have been:>)

Well, first WELCOME BACK! I have really enjoyed reading all of your vacation posts. I can tell you had a great time.

Your aunt sounds like a wonderful person and much like my own Aunt Evie. She died at 59 too, and you are right that you NEVER get over wanting them with you. We were just talking about her at my mom's house this week, in fact.

Aunts are special and you had a great relationship with yours. You were both blessed. The name Lillian is so pretty - not a name you hear often.

My daughter is such an aunt...

When you write about people, you bring them to life. I can see her and even hear her walking down the hall. You lost her much too soon. Yes, you're right, when we've loved someone we can never really let them go.

Thank you for sharing the story of your Aunt Lillian. It's so important for us to preserve the memories of those who have gone before us to give our families a sense of where they come from. What a blessing to have her in your life.
