Something new in the neighborhood...

This metal shelving was once at home in my BREAKFAST ROOM. It's a very cheap shelf...from DOLLAR GENERAL and I've used it there for years.
I moved it outside to my potting station
and THAT meant I needed SOMEthing
to go back in it's spot in the breakfast room.
My breakfast room is right off the kitchen and not too large...no room for a knockout hutch...mirrored wall so can't use wall shelving...
OK, let's see....HOBBY LOBBY always has some adorable shelves of some sort...actually a LOT of different styles.
I had a gift card left from my birthday last December .......
SOOOO
I WENT SHOPPING.
O, how I love to shop when I've got
MONEY.....!!
ALL  FURNITURE 40% OFF...
Well, HELLO.....SUNSHINE !!!

Why..I fell in love INSTANTLY.....

PERFECT for my tiny spot....
TALL...

That mirrored wall gives me 4 windows instead of two and in this tiny space, that is a huge PLUS.

BASKET LUV....
    Pottery Barn Style

I plan to put my favorite COOKBOOKS in that larger basket and take the rest of them to GOODWILL.

With the net and the bloggers, I seldom look at my cookbooks anymore.

HEAVY distressing....
Mr. Sweet's eyes rolled so far back in his head when he saw it,
I was really worried that he might never see again....
sort of the way he does when he sees a pair of $150.00 jeans with holes all in the legs. :>)
I have a good friend that thinks distressed furniture is ugly so she sure won't be liking this piece.
I gained TWO drawers...
I'll have those babies filled in no time at all...

While at Hobby Lobby, I saw these little tiny glass vases with a daisy or two stuck in HOT GLUE in them for
$14.98.....

WHAAAAT ??  $14.98....???

Good grief....I loved the little look of them so
 I just gathered up
a little glass jar for $1.29
and a lone little white daisy for $1.something...
                       and
                             hellooo.........

I am taking this poster to find a pretty frame today
and I will hang it beside this amazing shelf
I now own.
It will add a little color to that spot and
I SMILE....
.REAL BIG....
every time I look at it.
I hope ya'll have a wonderful kind of day....
See ya after the weekend.

Love that shelf. I have not seen that at our hobby lobby. That would be great for extra storage anywhere.

Hi BJ, I have enjoyed reading your blog tonight. I definitely don't have a green thumb so I just enjoy looking at all of your flowers. I like going to hobby lobby. I shop more at the one in Kansas City, it is bigger then ours and has more selections. Have a great day. Your Missouri Friend.

I love anything with baskets! AND you got two shelves besides! Good for you! I think it looks cute. Very different. Not sure I would like it were it a different color though.
Nooo Hobby Lobby here and I so long to go to one! How can they do this to us. They also closed down our fabricl and craft store.
Isn't that terrible? What are we, chopped liver?? (don't answer that!)
Your shelf is very functional and heaven only knows we need storage! :)

Dog gone, I wish I had a hobby lobby nearby! I keep seeing the cutest things that people buy there and at great prices. Great little shelf BJ. We could all use a little more storage/display:>)

(Hahahahaha...I'm lauging at the way you describe Mr. Sweet's eyes when he saw the distressing. I think it would have perfectly described John's when he saw the burlap on my new tablerunner. Too funny!)

It looks beautiful...perfect for that spot in every way. Hope that Mr. Sweet likes it now.

Wow bj, I love the distressed look on this piece. I love it in this spot and it will look even more fabulous when you get it with just the right collections. I had to smile when you mentioned Mr. Sweet's look. I can't believe you still had a gift card from your b'day last Dec. It would have burned a hole in my pocket before you spent it! I'm a Dec b'day girl too………Have a great weekend.

Love the new header BJ. Very cute !

I love it when you find a piece of furniture and then it’s on sale. Is there anything better? Your shelf is a beautiful accent piece and looks wonderful in your room.

I think I need to go shopping with you. You have such an eye for wonderful pieces!

Has Sherry seen that poster of when pigs fly? I don't see her name here and I think that's her name ... I know you would know who I'm talking about if I have her name right. Can't find her blog right now though. You did a recipe thing with her some time back.

Cute shelf - love the picture of hubby's eyes rolling back so far you don't think they'll come back! I can imagine! I love distressed stuff.

Hmm. Maybe I should get rid of some of my not-used cookbooks. The church is having a garage sale. I should've gotten them over there yesterday. Yes, the web is great in a pinch. Have you seen Salad in a Jar? Awesome ideas and recipes there - scroll down to the broccoli post I did 5/11/12 for her blog address.

Traveling first w/Stephanie and the Wedding Blog Party (I think I keep changing the order of those words) and since I have a few splashes of Pink, with Beverly too. Happy Pink Saturday !

Hugs! Jenn (email me if the comments don't work for ya - they seem to be working better from my direction lately - I can comment using my open ID w/very few problems lately . . don't say that too loudly or tell Google! ) :) Jenn

Hi bj, You are just too funny with Mr. Sweet's reaction, but do you know I can just see it now! Your new shelving unit is beautiful and I could use it in a few spots in my house. Never enough shelves and with baskets too--perfect! Sadly, no hobby lobby near me. Very clever daisy vase! I would pay 14.99 for something I could make When Pigs Fly!! Happy Pink Saturday! Linda

Very cute shelf, and I love the baskets and drawers. Nice to have space to store, but not have to see everything all at once. Funny, I was just thinking of weeding out my cookbooks this week too. Too much stuff, need to recirculate!

Enjoyed your little make over tutorial. I too have an old bakers rack that serves as a potting area in my back yard. I am so famous for seeing a cute little something at a store...looking at the price and exclaiming..."dude I could make that for a couple bucks" {the only difference being I never then do that, where as you do}.
Cheers,
Leah
