Lemon Tree...is very pretty..

THIS isn't a fallish post..
I'm not quite ready for FALL decorating...still too hot here.
The mornings...evenings....much cooler.
MAYBE by next week, I'll be more ready to do a little FALL decorating.
O...believe me...
I am READY to let this long, hot, dry summer slide into FALL..
We had the nicest rain, off and on, all night long  (9/15)
and
I. AM. THANKFUL.
Tuscany with Lemon Tree"Watercolor Painting by Meltem Kilic
 ♥♥
Two things come to mind when I gaze at this BEAUTIFUL PAINTING...
# 1.....I wish I could paint like this !
               # 2.... I wish I could grow a LEMON TREE !
PETER, PAUL AND MARY had a great song out in 1962
THE LEMON TREE
...a huge hit.
♫♪"When I was just a lad of ten, my father said to me,
"Come here and take a lesson from the lovely lemon tree." ♪♪
"Don't put your faith in love, my boy", my father said to me,
"I fear you'll find that love is like the lovely lemon tree."♫♫
 I made the BEST
BREAD PUDDING today.
and I just wish this was SCRATCH and SNIFF...it smelled so so good while it was baking.
I had forgotten how much I LOVE Bread Pudding.
Those little crunchy brown nuts on top...
BROWN SUGAR PECANS

♫♫"Lemon tree very pretty and the lemon flower is sweet
But the fruit of the poor lemon is impossible to eat.
Lemon tree very pretty and the lemon flower is sweet
But the fruit of the poor lemon is impossible to eat"♫♪
After the pudding was cooled a little..I drizzled WARM LEMON CURD all over it and I am
telling you people...
THIS is about the best dessert we have had in a LOOOONG  TIME.
O...it HAS to be served WARM...

♫♫♪"One day beneath the lemon tree, my love and I did lie
A girl so sweet that when she smiled the stars rose in the sky.
We passed that summer lost in love beneath the lemon tree
The music of her laughter hid my father's words from me"♪♪
♫♪♪"One day she left without a word. She took away the sun.
And in the dark she left behind, I knew what she had done.
She'd left me for another, it's a common tale but true.   ♪♫
A sadder man but wiser now I sing these words to you:"
"Lemon tree very pretty and the ♪♪♫ lemon flower is sweet
But the fruit of the poor lemon is impossible to eat.
Lemon tree very pretty and the lemon flower is sweet
But the fruit of the poor lemon is impossible to eat" ♫♪♫

6 slices of bread, torn apart
2 Tablespoons melted butter
4 eggs, beaten
2 cups milk
3/4 cup sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon vanilla
**
Tear bread into PAM-ED baking dish
Pour melted butter over the bread.
In a medium bowl, mix eggs, milk, sugar, cinnamon and vanilla
and pour over buttered, crumbled bread.
You can add raisins, dried cranberries, nuts at this time.
BAKE 350 for 45 minutes or until it's a nice, golden brown.
I made a half recipe for just the two of us.
Mr. Sweet doesn't care for LEMON flavor (what's WRONG with him?)
so I added the warmed curd to MINE after I put it in a bowl.
I hope you have a nice, sweet, LEMONY day....

OMGolly! We went to dinner the other night & ordered bread pudding after our deelish Reubens.

I told Harold 'I wish I knew how to make a good bread pudding' ... & knowing EVERYTHING you make is fabulous, guess what is going into that oven now?! Yup!

Mother used to make a deelish b/p, I can smell the aroma memory now.

TY for sharing. Tomorrow we will savor this lovely recipe.

Have a beautiful weekend.

Hi Bj/ Is the amounts listed the 1/2 recipe or regular? I wanted to make some for just Don and I and your recipe sounds so good. I always would end up making too much with my older recipe. Loved your sweet, tart lemon post.

I think you may be the reason I'm gaining weight (3 pounds lately)! It's your food. As long as you're putting weight on me, you may as well cook for me too, BJ. It's only fair. I'll be singing that song all night. Now tell me again where you got that black and white teapot?

My mouth is watering looking at those pics. I've used lemon curd before in a lemon coconut cake and it was delicious. That painting is so pretty too.

The bread pudding looks great BJ! I wish I could grow a lemon tree too. I know it would be happy outside during summer, I just don't get any direct sunlight in the house, so it wouldn't be happy over winter.

Your raindrops brought in the real raindrops? I'm so happy that you've finally had some rain.

This is the sweetest post from the cute and sunny graphics to the lyrics to the memory of singing that song on the schoolbus to bread pudding with lemon curd. Oh dear. This may mean a trip to T.J.Maxx looking for some.

I'm not quite ready for the total fall look, but I have begun to make a few, hopefully subtle, changes. And I do need a mum.

Good grief! If I lived near you..or at your house..or..anyway..you know what I mean..I would weight 200 pounds!
Right now I weight only 197.5! LOL

You do make the most delicious goodies ever! I love the painting. And if I can grow a lemon tree...so can you. I bought one last year and it produced 40 lovely little lemons...honest. I finally planted it. It's small but mighty. Do it. Mine was in a pot for ages..but now it's in the ground.
I am so GLAD, DELIGHTED and ...and...just everything..that you got rain! That is such wonderful news.

BJ,
"Mr. Ed" asked this morning if I'd heard if you'd gotten any rain..."It's raining in Texas"! I adored opening this post and listening to the sound of rain. One of the senses the least used is hearing...greater still is listening. The lack of rain in our area of the Prairie has made hearing and listening to the rain such a pleasure these last few days! AMEN!
Fondly,
Pat
