SWEET MEMORIES with my TEA..

These are my vintage PRAYER BOOKS...
**
When my mother found something in the paper or a magazine that she wanted to save, she tucked it inside her little
bright RED prayer book..Sometimes, when I sit down with a cup of relaxing tea...
I pull out these little books...filled with treasures of my memories...
*
Anything that 'caught her eye' went into her little book...

These little paper clippings are all turning YELLOW with glorious age....

My Aunt Lillian, Mom's older sister, was a nurse and Social Director at a nursing home
Mom was very proud of her sis....
and AUNT LILLIAN was, by far, my favorite person on the entire planet...
*
I was raised in the Eposcopial church and we had prayer books to read and study from..
right along with our Bibles..
*
mine was WHITE...
my dad's, BLACK
*
How sad the day we lost my Aunt Lillian...
I still cry for her at times...
*
*
I was Mom's FIRST BORN...
and I cried like a baby when I read this clipping she so lovely placed in her "safe place."
*
I read it ever so often, sipping tea....
and I cry every single time...
I cry for the lost love between my mom and dad...
and I cry tears of joy because she loved me so much.
and I cry simply because I miss her so.
*

This clipping is in honor of my baby brother.
Mother doted on him....we all did.
I was 9 1/2 when he was born so he was like MY BABY.
*
I cry harder when I read THIS loved clipping...my brother is very ill. and it is
too painful to speak of...
I do humbly ask for your blanket prayers for him, please....PLEASE.
The only thing that keeps me from falling completely apart is the fact that,
like this article says..."Heaven protects him".
I KNOW GOD IS WATCHING OVER KEITH LEE.

We all know that you have to turn things over to GOD ...

ALL memories aren't sweet....

However...they are STILL memories...
*

SWEET memories, like SWEET TEA, go down real easy...
BITTER memories are like sour lemons....you just accept them along with the SWEET.

Beautiful keepsakes from your family.

I know many people believe different things but I wholeheartedly believe that if you have an accurate knowledge of God and are following him completely, you will see your loved ones again. I believe in the resurrection to earth. It is a hope that gives me a peace that many don't have or understand.

I wish your family well!

A very sweet post and one that I know you will hold dear to your heart.

Prayer. I know all too well what prayer can do. When there is a need, we must stand together and pray for a miracle.

I am standing with you in prayer for your brother.
Blessings,
Shug

I think I could have written this post. My mother used to clip things and put them in her bible. When she passed I went through them over and over again.

I too had an aunt who I loved more then life it's self. She died two years after my mom. She didn't have any children so I go several things that belonged to her and too think of her often and miss her very much.

I also have a brother who I pray will get better and not be leaving this Earth to soon.

If you need or want someone to talk to, please know I'm here for you as I can relate.

It is a true blessing to know without a doubt that when our loved ones leave us it is to go to be with God who will keep them safe and one day allow us to be together again.

I will keep you and your brother in my prayers.

Big hugs
Joanne

These books are beautiful BJ, and so full of treasure! I too have a baby brother who is 9 years younger than I am! I will add your dear brother to my prayers. I pray Psalm 91 for my family daily. I dont know if you are familiar with it, but I find it very uplifting and reassuring. I wish I were there to give you a hug, I guess we all have sweet, and not so sweet memories.

Oh BJ, what a sweet post! I have my Daddy's Bible and he also had things tucked inside, sheets with Bible verses etc that I enjoy reading! Loved seeing all of those yellowed newspaper articles that meant something special to your Mama!

I am sorry that your Brother is ill and I will add him to my prayer list! You are right, God is watching over him and US!

Have a blessed day my friend! HUGS!

BJ,
I will say a little prayer for you brother. I am so he is not well :(
Your little prayer books are precious. I love your Mom's treasured clippings.
My Granny had scrapbooks that she held her clippings in. I have them all and they are treasures to me, as well.
Have a good day, my friend.

And you have a new Background here! Or else, it's not new, but I just noticed. Eeeek!

Anyway, I like it. It's still your happy yellow color but a different look. Change is fun! :-)

Such a beautiful post! I will pray for your brother. I have had for years that piece you photoed about BOYS...one of my favorites. Think I also have the one for girls. I'm a collector too and have many newspaper clippings, photos, and other memorabilia. I hope my granddaughter will some day enjoy looking back and remembering me with sweet memories.

I can relate to your post very well. I have an old biscuit cutter from a can. I also still have bibles with scriptures underlined and notes my mother wrote as well as clippings. They are true treasures.

I LOVE to read and reread Jan Karon's Father Tim books - - - ALL of them.

Being raised a Wesleyan, and not HAVING a prayer book - - -I would dearly LOVE to find a vintage Episcopalian prayer book. I can't wait to delve between the covers - - -

I do the same BJ. I look at my mom's treasures that I have now and it makes me smile with memories of growing up with her. We miss them so much and it never changes. I will say a prayer for your brother. I am right now waiting to hear about my own brother's health issues so I understand your concern. Hugs, Deb =^..^=x5

What beautiful memories these bring!

I will certainly pray for your precious brother. One of my brothers has been diagnosed with terminal cancer, and another brother has altzheimers (so we are losing him mentally).

It is hard to see those you love suffer, and I am thankful every moment I get to see my brothers or talk to them.

My Grandma would do the same type of thing. Though I don't have any of them like you do, I remember it fondly. Many blessings to your brother. {{HUGS}}

I love finding things like that in my mom's books.
I have the family Bible complete with my stash of 4 leaf clovers I put in there to press when I was a kid!
