HAPPY 100TH POST to TABLESCAPE THURSDAY....

LET'S HAVE A PARTY....
A TEXAS SIZED BAR-B-QUE...
**

100 posts for TABLESCAPE THURSDAY...
A day that has become very important to a lot of bloggers..

This is where we come for ideas...take peeks at the NEWEST dishes...inspiration galore....

With the abundant rains sent to us by GOD and the tropical storm..
our whole city is
GREEN...
woo hooness !
*
Rains...how WONDERFUL they are for our lawns
....flowers....our souls..
***
I have worked in my yard a lot this past week...fertilizer, grass seeds, pulling weeds, spraying weeds and grass on the brick patio but...I haven't got that all done yet! BUMMER !
**
I wanted things to look good for a
REAL TEXAS PARTY
in honor of SUSAN and her TABLESCAPE THURSDAY'S 100TH POST...
**
We just sit up a table...
added a few chairs....
a vintage wicker loveseat....
**

...a bottle or TWO of BLACKBERRY WINE...
and a few bottles of icy cold BEER.
*
Out here on the plains, if you're going to be OUTSIDE for very long...
you pretty much NEED to wear a hat, cap...something to shade the face...
**
I've put out a few hats for you to choose from..but....the "GOT WINE" cap is ALL MINE !!
**
Paper plate..
Paper napkins..
makes for an easy party....

You will notice that I changed the table settings throughout the party...gotta keep things fresh and fun, ya know..

JULY 22nd....marks the 100th post...
I LOVE THIS CAP of mine...
and I love this photo...:))

These little SALT & PEPPERS look just like REAL eggs, don't they...

This is the vintage love seat MR. SWEET bought for me 49 years ago...

It was in excellent shape when he bought it and.....it still is.

My Rose of Sharons have just OUTDONE themselves this year....the flowers are BIG...
*

MR. SWEET decided to grill for us...beef ribs of some sort...

so....I brought out the REAL plates...paper isn't too good with this kind of food....we'll be having grilled meat, potato salad, baked beans with bacon...

An array of goodies for this most important PARTY...no time for a cake so I hope cookies will do..
*

I seldom buy beer...we don't drink it simply for the reason that we aren't crazy about the taste...
but I was at the market the other day, and while buying our BLACKBERRY WINE,
I noticed these tiny, cutest BOTTLES of BEER and I just had to buy them...

**
.... just think how cute the empty bottles will be with wild flowers in them...
Can't wait... let's see...I can use beer in making bread...anything else ??
Is it BEER that's a good rinse for your hair ??

I've cleared the table somewhat...time to put the plates out...
The meat is almost done on the grill...
*
Did I mention that I am VERY proud of my pretty yard this summer ?? Well, I AM !
tee-nincy little flowers on my CROWN OF THORNS plant...
*

Did I ever tell you that MR. SWEET makes hot brands for horses and cattle ?
Every time he makes one, he "brands" an area of the backyard fence..
*
It looks pretty cool to us TEXANS....maybe kinda RED NECK to other parts of the country...:))
*
We don't care...we love our TEXAN traditions..
He makes SPURS, too....WHAT A MAN !
*

Looks like the beef is just about done, Mr. Sweet....
I'll bring out the barbque sauce...ummmmm
*

SINCE I noticed many of you are wearing BOOTS...
Just wanted ya to know that I've set up a
BOOT PARKIN' SPOT...It's waaay too hot to wear sox and BOOTS !
*
We are going to head back INSIDE to eat our meal, under the comfort and wonderous
AIR CONDITIONING...
so TAKE OFF YOUR BOOTS, get comfy .... and stay a spell..
*

and, yep...MR. SWEET made that boot jack, too...he never
leaves home without it...
boots next to impossible to take off without one !
*
AND, of COURSE I have a place to HANG YOUR HAT !!

*****************************************************************

ONLY 45 CALORIES PER SLICE of this most delicious bread...
What a deal !!
*
TEXAS FARE....

yum
*
ITALIAN ICE....sooo good...

A HAPPY 100TH POST
DESERVES A CANDLE...
**

Love it all! The brands on the fence are really neat, you don't see that in Philly (unless spray paint counts!). Your B-B-Que looks good too, looks like you all had a great time!

What a great post. Your pictures are always beautiful.
When I saw your vintage wicker love seat my mouth dropped open. I have one almost identical to yours except it is a rocker. Mine has a little damage in the front.
Thank you for your comment on my post. I agree with what you said. I have so enjoyed watching my granddaughters. I always have someone else thast I watch with them. I wish all my grandkids were close so I could do the same for them. I am hoping that things work out that I can stay at home.
((((HUGS))) Your yard looks so nice. Rain is GOOD.,

I love your table setting! Love the rooster, the step-ladder with the boots, all of it. Oh yes, your flowers, too! As a fellow Texan, I understand eating inside. It's been near 100 in our neck of the woods (Waxahachie, Tx.) and I don't even go outside unless I have to! I so enjoy reading your posts!

Betty said...

I think the brands are awesome. My Dad always branded his name on his bee hives so his all grown up daughter asked him if she could have one of his branded hives. He gave me a brand new one, I wasn't expected that but that was cool.
Of course I have been looking at your pictures from your cruise too! I will have to post some of mine, can you still go to our chat room? I haven't see you there in a while.

Linda (More Fun Less Laundry) said...

Well, bj, your branded fence may certainly be Texan but it is not redneck--it is just so neat!! Your whole setting looks so welcoming and fun! Wish I could sit and have one of your mini beers--just right for me. Linda

You have such a lush lawn, every right to be proud. It's beautiful scenery for the tablescape. I like everything you gathered around the table, too. I really like those first few pics; it gave them a vintage look.

All the Best,

BJ, the little shady corner of your yard is darling, but think I would prefer to be inside where it is a little cooler. The food looks wonderful, what time will you be serving? I am intrigued by the "branding" fence...hope you do a post on what each one means, one of these days.

The Tablescaper said...

Great fun!!!! I'm delayed in visiting all of the TT participants as my good friends from Texas are here visittng in NY to try to escape the heat! I think the love seat steals the show.

I host a weekly meme called "Summer Sundays" amd would love to have you come and join in the fun. It's all about what summer means to YOU! Hope you'll join in!

Your yard looks so lush and green and your rose of sharon bushes are just beautiful.I have some of those too and they are just blooming like crazy this year! Your yard makes such a beautiful place for this pretty picnic. I hope you are enjoying all the green. I mowed our yard two days ago, it rained for two days and now it needs mowing again!

Susan (Between Naps On The Porch.net) said...

Hi BJ, Well, I parked my boots in the boot parking lot and I've been strolling all over your gorgeous yard admiring your beautiful Rose of Sharon and sipping some of that delicious blackberry wine. I just had to try out your beautiful vintage settee that Mr. Sweet bought you...it's wonderful. I was real careful, though, despite having had some of your wine. No settee jumping for this girl. ;) Dinner was yummy by the way...tell Mr. Sweets he did a great job! I loved looking at the brands and I really like the one that has sort of a leaf design...although I would not want to be on the receiving end of any of them! ;)
Thanks for such a special TT post, BJ! Will you come along for another 100? I surely hope so!
XOXO
Susan
