A Red and White Christmas Table.....

reposted to correct address ! sorry!!

A CHRISTMAS TABLE....
I so love this time of year...just like YOU do.
*
Every year, as I grow older, I think THIS Christmas has been the best...
*
Then, when Christmas rolls around again, I know in my heart that IT is the best Christmas....
***********

May you have the gladness of CHRISTMAS which is HOPE....

The spirit of CHRISTMAS which is PEACE....

The heart of CHRISTMAS which is LOVE.

ADA V. HENDRICKS

......the colors, the sights...sounds...smells and tastes..
it all makes for such a magical time of the year....
***
MERRRRRRRRY CHRISTMAS.....
**
...in the lane......snow is glistening......
Each little CHRISTMAS plate has a different, whimsical scene....
Holly napkin rings from clearance bin at Walmart,
after Christmas last year.....
FOUR for A DOLLAR..
ain't life grand....!!
**
my red and white Christmas....
**

As my readers know, there is nothing fancy at SWEET NOTHINGS...nothing at all...
I use the same dishes over and over and over again...
but how fun it is to pull out all the CHRISTMAS dishes and add them to my normal setting....
**
Just a few CHRISTMAS items can make a table just SPARKLE with excitement...
~~~
ESPECIALLY when there's a lot of RED.....!!
....do you suppose there is ANYone, ANYwhere, that doesn't LOVE the color RED...??
**
My sweet new blogging friend, PHYLLIS over at AROUND THE HOUSE
has the most beautiful tables. Not long ago, she showed us her beautiful
CHRISTMAS CANDY CANE table setting and I just about had a hissy fit...
I mean, I actually dreamed about that beautiful table of hers...
**
she had everything all done up in RED and WHITE and it was
deliciously beautiful....
***
I, loving red so much, and having quite a bit of it in dishes and etc..
decided right then and there to go with a RED and WHITE theme in my dining room
and on my CHRISTMAS table...
**
Not having fresh pine greens to use, I just cut a few cedar greens and, they have worked out just great...I do like the looks of them ALMOST as much as the pine....but they surely don't smell as wonderful as fresh cut pine boughs......
*note...."bj, pick up some of that wonderful PINE air freshener next trip to town!"
***
I am going to spend this next year, searching out good sales on pretty dishes,
"suck-in-your-breath" flatware and other pretty table items...
so that next Christmas, I can really "do it up right".. :O)
but....for now....THIS Christmas....
I AM HAPPY !!
**
I did have fun with this table...
THANKS, PHYLLIS, for the inspiration !
*note...to see one of the cutest blogs and get some of the BESTest ideas,
will you tell her bj said HEY ?
***
Phyllis told me where to find the candy cane stripe candles...
WALMART...who woulda thought !!
**
CANDY CANE cookies always look festive...
Why didn't I drizzle a little white icing on, too ?
**
They are in the freezer, waiting for CHRISTMAS EVE..so..I still have time to spruce them up a little...
a drizzle of white chocolate with CHRISTMAS sparkly sugar dust...
O !.....the grands will love 'em....
***
These little wintertime goblets, with snow scenes on them are just perfect
for our CHRISTMAS table...
These came from somewhere like McDonald's or Burger King, several years ago.
Very cheap..urrrr... inexpensive and I have really and truly enjoyed using them...
***
***
***
See those silly little girls in that photo...
They were about 5 years old there...they are all 12 now...
Just the perfect age !
Funny how ANY age kids are...
it's PERFECT !!
**************************
If you haven't tried these PEPPERIDGE FARM turnovers...
O HONEY !
**
I spread them with butter, sprinkle them with cinnamon and sugar,
pop them in the oven and DIG IN...
Couple them with COFFEE ice cream and you have a WINNER, DELUXE....
**
I keep these in the freezer all the time and when I am rushed, like right NOW...
**
they make a fantastic dessert...
and to think that all the work was done for me, back there at PEPPERIDGE FARM...
I LOVE IT !!
Well, I do believe we have much in common. Thanks for coming by my place and all the nice things you had to say. I love your table. I think I spy a "Heritage" pattern creamer with candy canes inside and a bow on the handle. I have a set of that pattern.
I love the striped candle. Please visit again soon. And so will I.
BJ, your red and white Christmas table is PERFECT! I love, love, love everything about it. Those candy cane cookies look yummy!
About fresh pine greens...some other blogger - I don't remember who, said they go to Lowe's or Home Depot...both of those stores sell fresh cut trees and they always cut some of the lower branches off and toss aside. All you need to do is ask for them and they give them away FREE!!
I love red, also! Too much probably - is that possible? I haven't even thought about a Christmas table yet - I need to get crackin' on that. You've inspired me to do red. Sally
Hello BJ, you may use the same dishes over and over but who would know. You always make everything beautiful and festive in a different way for every holiday. Honestly BJ, a beautiful table is an art form with you. Always a perfectly delightful fast for our eyes. Mmmmm and the desserts. Our store doesn't carry the Haaggen-dais coffee ice cream anymore. Sigh. It is soooo good.
Christmas love, Jeanne
BJ, your red and white table is so festive. I'm a fan of candy canes and that's just what this table reminds me of. The plates are cute. The cookies and pie and ice cream made me wish for a bite tonight. Looks yummy! Speaking of ice cream, do you ever crush up peppermint candy and mix it into vanilla ice cream? Oh so good! ~ Sarah
Sweet BJ, I love your candy cane red and white table you sure did it justice...Thank you so much for mentioning my blog I try to make it nice for people to see and I am happy it made an impression, you can't ask for more...I have a couple more Christmas things to show and i know you will want to see the kitchen bay window filled with large jars full of all sizes of candy canes, I know you will love it...don't know if you have a dollar tree store where you are but they always have the old fashioned large thick straight candy canes 2 for a dollar...Thanks again sweet bj for being so nice to a new comer...Phyllis
I could scroll your photos all day long and daydream. Just beautiful!!
Good morning, my friend - Your table is wonderful and such an inspiration to me. I have the same napkin rings, also found on clearance at WalMart last year. They are special because I live on Holly Street and I try to feature holly in my decorating (my sweetheart's idea a few years ago!). Thanks for sharing your lovely home with us. I'll be back soon to see more.
Ooh, now this is what I call a tablescape! I LOVE red and white together. Just love it to pieces and you used cedar on your table just like Gloria did! All I have in my hard is these really ugly, tall pine trees... don't think I can do much with them. Hrm...
Can't believe those glasses came from a fast food place!
Hey BJ!
Thanks so much for your very sweet comments on my livingroom. Yes, I think that if you start adding some whites and cremes with your brown leather, that you can create a lighter affect. Try adding a creme colored throw with some creme throw pillows and some burlap pillows, then gradually bring in whites. I think white, creme and brown creates a very pretty look.
I have a feeling that soon we will be looking at your newly decorated room.
No, I don't have a button, I need to get one. I'll work on that.
hugs~Sissie
That is one of the prettiest tables yet. I just saw those candy cane candles at Walmart this morning, I almost bought them, now I'm going to go back there before they are gone. The only thing I saw missing on that table was your famous pecan pie. :)
Merry Christmas,
I'm sorry I'm late for the party! An asthma attack hit and I've been operating at half speed. My husband prescribed a new inhaler so I'm good to go.
Now to your beautiful Foodie Friday post. I love the candy canes and your red theme. And that striped candle has to be the most festive touch ever. The Pepperidge Farm turnovers are my favorites, too. Your Christmas salad plates and tablescaping ideas are perfect!
