SHORTCUTS IN THE KITCHEN ~

One of my favorite cooking shows on the Food Network is Sandra Lee's Semi-Homemade. She makes even the plainest dish look and taste so good. I've tried several of her recipes and all of them have turned out great.

I've used these frozen, Pepperidge Farm Peach Turnovers for years and years and they are one of our favorite desserts. I just add butter on top, sprinkle with sugar (or Splenda) and add as much cinnamon as we like and they are DELICIOUS! Especially served with a scoop of Vanilla Bean Ice Cream. YUM..

If you have something like this that you "enhance and make your own", would you share it with me? I love shortcuts in the kitchen !!

HAPPY DAY!

Oh I love that show too! One of my favorites is to buy a pre-cooked market roasted chicken - then buy the premade pie crusts and whip up a pot pie from it, or chicken & dumplings. There's nothing better than getting a little pre-made help on a dish!

Hugs,
Dena

Oh BJ..those would go great with my coffee! Yes..I love her show too because you don't need too many ingredients to whip up something that looks like you spent all day on it!
I hope you are feeling better today!

I love shortcuts too and use them every chance I get. Some days I get in the mood to really 'scratch' cook and I love that also. We are so blessed to have all of the different choices in our supermarkets.

Sandra lee if my favorit as well I love all of her table scapes. She does make everything look so pretty that I feel the need to do something pretty in my house after watching her show. I have been wanting to get her cook book but I will wait until its a need more than a want. It is so nice to know you are okay and your posting I sure missed you while you were gone.
Have a beautiful day

Good Afternoon BJ,
I do hope you are feeling better today. I enjoyed your visit this morning. I tell ya, when you don't post for a couple of days and don't comment either, well that puts you way behind. I have been trying to catch up with everyone all day. I've had chores to do as well and some errands to run also. I need to wash some dishes but just can't make my self do it yet. LOL. Sure wish I had a Dishwasher on days like this. I enjoy watching Sandra Lee as well. I have never tried any of her quick recipes, but hopefully one day I can. I really love to watch Rachel Ray's "30 Minute Meals". I read over your previous post about your clocks. You sure do have some beautiful clocks. "THANK YOU" for sharing them with us. It was a bitterly cold weekend here. They are saying we may get some freezing rain tonight. I just wonder if we will get that lucky? LOL. Take care my friend and have a great day. May God Bless You and Yours.

Love & Hugs,
Karen H.

Dear Sweet and Wonderful BJ,
I am so happy things went well. I Pray that you recover beautifully! You look beautiful in your photo! (Loving the clocks too, I'm a lover of clocks as well.) I've never really watched any cooking shows, but now you've got me interested. I'll definately have to check some out. I need to find some great "low-fat" recipes! I've been trying real hard to drop some pounds since Christmas...and I've already dropped 6. (Woo-hoo) Just 15-20 more to go. Good luck with your recovery and recipes!

There are a couple of short cuts that I use in the kitchen, but nothing that looks as good as those turn overs. Yum.

These look yummy! Short cut: hashbrowns as a crust for a quick morning quiche--bake them in bottom of pie shell 20 minutes, add a combo of egges, ham & cheese (whatever is on hand)--half hour cooking and it's great!
Enjoy!

I like that show. I love how the accessories change depending on the theme. I often use the grocery store chicken, too. I make pot pies or chicken and noodles or chicken and wild rice soup.
Hugs,
Nan

I've been a little busy with work, so I'm just now catching up on the blogs. I'm so glad the surgery was a success and you're back to posting.
I'm lucky enough to be able to watch Sandre Lee and Paula Deen on my lunch hour! Love them both.

Take care,
Cyndy

BJ,

They look delicious and what a great shortcut. With a little imagination, you can easily tranform store bought into a homemade treat.

Be sure to drop over to my blog and enter the giveaway.

Blessings,
