WHITE IRONSTONE.....AN AFFAIR OF THE HEART

This is a page out of one of my favorite magazines of the most beautiful collection of white ironstone. Probably most of this is English Ironstone, of which I have only a few pieces. I've drooled over this picture until I've nearly worn it out.........

I just started collecting the little, white sugar bowls....I love their shapes and I like them best if they still have their little lid.....oh, and the one on the bottom IS English but, it's lid must have been broken. I love it anyway!

I have several of the old, divided plates, like the one in the background. I love those old plates...then your food doesn't all touch!! :)

A favorite set that I've had a long, long time.......

My hutch is a sagey green and altho the white looked ok in it, when I added the red fabric to the back, it made the white dishes pop.

Some of my ironstone was left to me by my mother, others I've picked up thru the years at thrift stores, flea markets and eBay. I am finding less and less at these places tho, except eBay does have some nice pieces at times.

I am drawn to the little, tiny pitchers....but I do love it all.

Maybe if I can get a lot more ironstone, I can "go back and get a bigger hutch"!!! :)

Hey I need some of those divided plates. I really don't like my food touching, unless its in a casserole. My husband laughs at me as I eat all my veggies, then all my potatoes, and then my meat. I tell him its a fetish from having divided plates as a child. You would think after 32 years together this would not amuse him anymore wouldn't you?

I love antique things. When I buy something antique or see something antique I always imagine where it has been and who has touched it. Did someone in 1910s hold in her hand and serve her family with it? Was she a content, happy woman? Were times very hard for her? If I could sit still long enough to write books !!! The way you have your ironstone displayed is beautiful.

I love all your white dishes. Where on earth do you store all your goodies? I love how you're doing the fading in your pictures. I really like that heart shape.

Hi, BJ! I'm so glad you stopped by to see me this morning:)

I love your Ironstone collection. I have a small collection myself. I started out with some pieces my Grandmother left to me and I have add to them.

I agree that the red fabric gives your display just the right touch!

Please come back and visit me again, I will certainly be back to to see you.

Hi BJ, Thanks for showing me this site! Such fun to read all the comments. I want to line my hutch too, but first I have to edit my Blue Ridge pottery collection. OOOOOOO, such a painful thought! Christy427 from RMS

Hi Jean...aka BJ,

Just stopping by after your comment on my blog! We share the same obsession with white ironstone. I collect here and there. I have some platters and a sugar bowl. I also tear out pages from magazines and keep them in a folder until you can almost see thru the pages ;)

I had several very old pieces of ironstone, but they were all broken in the tornado... I think my dh said he had one bowl packed away that didn't get broken... *sigh*
Yours is lovely!
