Sunday Morning Coming Down.....

I love that song..."SUNDAY MORNING COMING DOWN"
JOHNNY CASH made it a hit ....

but it was
KRIS KRISTOFFERSON , one of the world's best song writers, that WROTE it.

That song plays around in my mind quite often while I make our
SUNDAY MORNING BREAKFAST.

I like to serve our breakfast on a tray but......

....all my trays are packed down deep SOMEwhere at our new place...

I've prepared my favorite wicker desk for a light breakfast, with some of my
favorite things included.

I've decided that Mr. Sweet and I should have at LEAST one serving of fresh fruit a day
and breakfast is a perfect time.

YES....I KNOW they have been telling us that for YEARS....:)
Oranges....strawberries...blue and blackberries....favorite fruits.

A beautiful potted plant from my sweet boy and his generous family on MD....

(every mom MUST know that I will save that pretty little pink, net flower forever and ever, Amen. :>)

Flowers ALWAYS make any meal about 1000 times
BETTER....:)
 ......beautiful, heavy glass paperweight with
"LOVE GROWS"
that my two sweet children gave me for
a Mother's Day many, MANY
years ago.
It's one of my heart's most loved TREASURES.
My most favorite magazine of ALL TIME
was
Mary Engelbreit's

HOME COMPANION.

I think ....I'm pretty sure....
that I cried a bit when it was
discontinued.

I have saved several of the magazines
and I love nothing better than to browse thru one
while I am having breakfast.

THIS was such a great breakfast...
that pretty blue and white cup held cup after cup of
FRENCH VANILLA
DUNKIN DONUTS COFFEE...

(It is usually around $8 but I found some at WALGREEN DRUG on sale ....1/2 price....
so, don'tchaknow that I bought
2 BAGS FULL  !!
:>)

OK...
OK....

so the HEALTHY BLUEBERRIES came in the most delicious
SISTER SHUBERT package of sweet rolls...

We ate WAAAY more FRUIT than the BLUEBERRY SWEET ROLLS...

promise !!
 :>(
FAVORITE THINGS.....
*heavy sigh
they are sooo good for the soul.

I hope you have a FRUITY KIND OF DAY...
 seasonal sunday
sunny simple sunday...changed to monday
blue monday
mix it up monday
moonshine monday...????
on the menu monday
a return to loveliness

But did you stumble through your closest for your clothes and find your cleanest dirty skirt??? LOL
I love that song - love Kris ( did you know he wrote Bobby McGee for Janice Joplin ( who he was living with at the time - and apparently was madly in love with her? ) I just found out that bit of trivia a couple of years ago - you've probably known it forever...........
Beautiful photos btw - I got a little sidetracked!

Kris - and Willie Nelson - and Roger Miller are our FAVORITE song writers! I am listening to Don Williams sing 'I Believe in You' - not by any of the above three but still pretty and one of my favorites!

So are you IN your new place? I'm not sure where to PUT you - in my minds eye!

And I LOVE learning from Suzan Sweatman that Kris K wrote Bobby McGee!!! I am going to visit HER now!!!

What a beautiful, healthy way to start the day! And just as pretty, tray or no tray! I love KK, that whole generation of singer/songwriters, Carole King, James Taylor...the stories those songs tell!

Hope you're having a wonderful holiday weekend!

XO,
Jane

Some of my favorite things in this post! My husband always know KK songs. Cracks me up that he knows the writer.

We are eating lots of fruit right now too. I'm surprised how satisfying it is. :)

Great photos!

ME's Home Companion was such a great magazine. I'm so glad that I saved every one of them. They are still fun to look at. I met her at a book signing and she was very nice.

One of the folk art snowman that I made back in the 1990's is in the photograph on the book cover/dust jacket of the Mary Engelbreit's 1995 Christmas book, so that was the book at the booksigning.

Happy Sunday, dear BJ. It all looks good and pretty, too.

I love Johnny and Kris and that song.

I just finished in the kitchen for a while. We are having company for a hamburger cookout this afternoon, and I wanted to get as much ready as possible.

The most important part of Juicing, for me is.... We get lots of fresh veggies/fruits, all in one cool drink.

Otherwise, we just don't consume the fresh veggies/fruits, which we should.

We Juice once a day.

I loved this post! Your photos are just beautiful. So many things to comment on, but I'll just say that I love KK's music and ME's Home Companion, too. I'm sorry to say that I've only got a couple of her magazines left. Wish I'd saved them all.

About fruit...I'm on an orange eating kick right now. Love them.

Have a happy weekend!

Not being a fan of country music, I had never heard that song. It is playing right now & I can see why you love it!!

I, too, miss ME's Home Companion magazine & could kick myself for not keeping any issues. Phooey!

Your photos are charming but its your thoughts & the words you use to express them that make your posts so much fun to read, BJ.

Have a safe Memorial Day!
Hugs,
Rett

Why is it that stuff we like is always disconinued. That even happens with makeup. I wear the same make up every day and then can't seem to find it again after a few years. Your sweet rolls look wonderful. It's nice to get flowers from a son!

I would think I had died and gone to heaven if I had a meal like that. A bowl of cereal just is not the same. Enjoy it and your day of rest.

Annesphamily said...

I think you better get a hold of LV and get her over to your place for a nifty breakfast! You have a way with words and telling stories about fruit! Hee Hee!
Kris K is also a favorite of mine. He served our country in the military too. A shame most all of the politicians today do not! I think it ought to be law!
Always fun to stop here for a visit!

Hi bj, Thank you for your comment today. We are in Fl. celebrating our grands HS graduation. Fun times.

We love to eat our fruit each day as well. Your breakfast, the flowers and missing your dad is the perfect post. I too still miss my daddy. Johnny Cash and Kris K. are Icons in the country music world.

Happy Memorial Day too bj.

We may have some things we differ in, but certainly not many. Kristofferson is a favorite singer and songwriter of mine...and that song is one of my favorites!

I am hoping you have had some lookers since last I heard! I imagine you are anxious to get moved. You are certainly handling it well. I felt like bonking my head against a wall before it was all over.

The food looks wonderful and the flowers are delightful!
