I have always loved the looks of the Welsh hutch.
I love the open shelving.
There's as many different styles as there are stars in the sky
but the open shelving is seen on nearly all Welsh hutches.
I have posted about my Welsh hutch many times but
I wanna do it again. ;>)
It's perfect for DEBBIEDOO'S COPYCAT MAGAZINE CHALLANGE
Mr. Sweet and I bought a MAPLE HARVEST TABLE when we first married,
over 50 years ago. We used it for years and then.......
I grew SICK and TIRED of it....
One day, while looking thru a great magazine, I saw THIS....
and knew instantly how that olden, maple harvest table was
going to earn it's keep here at Sweet Nothings.
"Ooo, Mr. Sweeeeet.................."
So, he began to
DESIGN...
DRAW...
THINK...
DRAW AGAIN.........
and then he
STARTED TO BUILD !
And, after he finished the building,
I began to paint in RED.
Yes, ma'am.....
he built that beautiful hutch top to slide that harvest table under
and
WALLA....
I had my very own beautiful RED
WELSH HUTCH.
I love the fact that I can lift one of the leaves and have more room on the top for .....
STUFF...:)
I use this a lot for my desserts when we have a family dinner.
It's great when we have so many desserts that we need this added room.
lol
Ever I need an additional table for 6, I can slide this table out from under the beautiful hutch top that he built.
I wanna do it again. ;>)

ALL THE TIME....
but, THAT'S what NESTING is all
about....
I keep several of my thrifted, vintage
ironstone pieces here.
I USE these olden pieces of mine.
I don't think I even own a piece that is never used.
The burlap runner with red stripes
was a project I did a couple of years

You must have found the most talented man around when you married. He does excellent work on anything. Love your hutch. Are you using the new way? Next Saturday will probably be last day for me doing post. Even those that know blogging functions are having a hard time. It has been a great ride!
Wow! What a great way to re-purpose that table! And it is so handy, too! Mr. Sweet did a fabulous job! Love it! Happy week!...hugs...Debbie
that is stunning well done to your husband, now i'll go have a word with mine lol
I love your red hutch. So glad you kept it and gave it new life. It looks super. I would love to have a piece like that to store pretties and displays. Thanks Bj for joining in on the fun. Always happy to have you.
You have one handy hubby there! Unfortunately mine isn't quite handy with tools :-(

I never knew the term Welsh hutch...blogging is such a teacher! Yours looks wonderful and once again that husband of yours did beautiful work. I love the red!
absolutely gorgeous. Amazing team work! Every detail is fabulous, what a fun treasure!
Oh that Mr. Sweet! Is there anything that man can't do? I have always loved that red hutch of yours!
Wow! How inventive. Love the red.
I have always loved your red hutch and Mr. Sweet is so very talented! Great copy cat!
XO,

my word, your hubby is talented! i like this man!
What a sweetie you have to make this for you...it's fantastic! I love the side by side pic...it's almost identical! I think yours looks better the way you've filled it.
Hope you don't mind but I am really crushing on Mr. Sweet right now!
Ooooooo..... I wish I could build. Just think - if you could build it yourself you could make it to fit the space you have. I have a space that I would love to put one of these in, but it's not wide enough for one. However, one could be custom made to fit. Eventually, I'll find something ready made that fits into the space, though. Give your husband a big hug and let him know that he's got some pretty cool talents! All the ladies in blogger land are now jealous!
BJ, the Welsh cupboard is lovely but the story of how it came to be is more lovely still. hugs, olive
I'm glad you posted this again BJ, I've never seen it before. Your husband is wonderful to make you all the things that you love! Great copycat!
He did such a good job building that. How sweet of him. I can't get mine to build furniture. I know he could if he would try. Not his thang I guess. I love the new picture of the two of you on the side.
Hi BJness! Oh, I love your Welsh hutch and Mr. Sweet is just amazing! He did a beautiful job and I love the job you do of decorating it. I'm coveting just a little bit. I'll ask forgiveness in a few minutes.
be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
Bj- See...your newest followers have NOT seen that hutch nor do they know the story behind it (people like me). I just adore that he made it just for you. It is a wonderful piece. xo Diana
What a great idea! I love this. I'm glad you approve of copy-catting because I seem to do a lot of copy-catting of your ideas....
Your hutch is beautiful, BJ, and I love the red! Your white dishes just stand out so wonderfully ~ what a great piece to decorate for Christmas.
Your hubby is a gem, how wonderful that he can figure things like that and make them happen!

BJ, you and Mr. Sweets are quite the team. I always love your hutch. You have it "dressed" beautifully.
And it surely helps, with 'copy-catting,' to have a talented wood worker, like 'Mr. Sweet'!!!
