LOVE AND MARRIAGE...♥

ONCE upon a time,
SWEET NOTHINGS COTTAGE
needed a vintage, time worn, *loved by someone else in the past*
HUTCH.
A piece wth ...STABILITY
HISTORY..
LOVE...
MEMORIES...

A BRAND new hutch was OUT OF THE QUESTION!
SO, the search began..
T'was fully aware that it might take a month..
maybe even a year.
FIRST came LOVE
This little very antique cabinet was found at one of my favorite HAUNTS..
The glass in the doors...that WAVY olden glass.
$75.00
Why, all the precious details ALONE were worth $75.00..
throw in WAVY GLASS and that store lady HAD A DEAL !
I was swooning so hard when I left that store, I barely made it home.
NOW, however....
the hunt continued for the
BOTTOM piece of this *piecemeal HUTCH
that was taking place in my mind...
*piece·meal  (psml)
adv.
1. By a small amount at a time; in stages: articles acquired piecemeal.
2. In pieces; apart.
ALAS...
would I EVER find an amazing bottom piece...
a piece WORTHY of marrying the awesome upper cabinet?
A piece that could stand up to the name...
FOUNDATION ... ?
 AND THEN...it happened..
I was at GOODWILL♪♪
and found NOTHING.
On my way back to my already overloaded car,
holding that awesome upper piece of the IN MY DREAMS piecemeal HUTCH,
sitting out beside the GOODWILL dumpster,
WHERE SOMEONE LEFT.....
THE piece !
Could it be ?
Could it POSSIBLY be that I was blessed enuf to find
BOTH my pieces ....
IN ONE DAY ?
Paint was peeling...
some of the wood, veneer maybe ?, was a little warped and wavy..
and
I WAS IN LOVE...
$14.00
THEN CAME MARRIAGE...
After sanding, scraping, sweating, grinning,
and a coat of the fabulous COLOR that I can't remember, for sour grapes, the NAME of..
They went together, like a horse and carriage....♫

Don't you just LOVE it when a plan comes together ?

A LOT of love went on top...
...some layered love
went on one of the glass doors..
A little blue and white love....
.
... some little rosy knobs..
a bit of bling on the backplates..
Yep...
better even than in my DREAMS...
and, VERY THRIFTY, at that.
I have a piece that has a lot of
PERSONALITY and Charm which is
JUST MY STYLE. :)
♪ love and marriage, love and marriage...
 Thanks for coming by...
Come again soon...
I'LL  leave the light on for ya..

Beautiful pieces, you lucky duck.
And you did need something to hold all those linens and dishes, right.

That is a fabulous cabinet. Beautiful and I love the color and all the charming details.

My blueberry quick bread is in the oven as I type and I think I must have done something wrong. I did substitute fresh blueberries for dried and doubled the amount so I hope I didn't boo boo. Course, wouldn't be my first cooking failure....but I can just taste that good bread :)

BJ,which Goodwill did you find that wonderful piece? I never find anything at Goodwill. They've turned into new/retail store and the great deals of old seem to be gone. I'm just west of you in China Spring. My BIL lives there in West. Just found your blog. It's great. I'll surely be checking back often. thanks,Hilary

Darn! 'Cause I really WANT that beautiful, one-of-a-kind Hutch. I know it was a labor of love putting it all together and getting it painted like you wanted. AND, it came out great. Well, if I can't have it, then I'm glad you do.
Thanks for letting us see it!

Next time I will follow the directions. If I'd used dried blueberries instead of waaayyyy too many fresh, the bread would have turned out perfect. Darn! I'm going to give it another try on another day.
