I LOVE THE RED, WHITE AND BLUE......

MEMORIAL DAY...MAY 31, 2010

Veteran’s Day Prayer
Dear Lord,
Today we honor our veterans, worthy men and women who gave their best when they were called upon to serve and protect their country.

We pray that you will bless them, Lord, for their unselfish service in the continual strugglet o preserve our freedoms, our safety, and our country’s heritage, for all of us.

Bless them abundantly for the hardships they faced, for the sacrifices they made for their many different contributions to America’s victories over tyranny and oppression.

We respect them,
we thank them,
we honor them,
we are proud of them

and we pray that YOU will watch over these special people and bless them with peace and happiness.
In Jesus’ name we pray;
Amen.

The grandkids LOVE going on picnics..
so do I !
**
Sometimes...we do picnics INSIDE...
especially when the wind is blowing so hard.....
or it's too HOT outside to enjoy eating.
**
Here is my version of the RED, WHITE and BLUE for this year's MEMORIAL DAY luncheon.
**
There's my vintage BLUE PICNIC BASKET...
I bought it so long ago at a great GARAGE SALE
and a few years back, came REALLY close to painting it RED.
My youngest grand, DEEDS,
said, "O, NO...MEMAW...I love it BLUE !"
so, OF COURSE, it IS and will always BE
this perfect shade of BLUE.....
*
I'm using my GREAT
RED and WHITE ( with a tiny little line of the best YELLOW)
tablecloth that my good blogging sister friend, JEANNE, over
sent to me in a LOVE PACKAGE not long ago.
**
There's those RED POLKA DOT dishes I love...

TINA over at CHERRY HILL COTTAGE told me where
to buy these adorable plates and I ordered 12 before I could shake a stick !!
NOW, however, I can't find that company...... I'll ask TINA....
They are the melamine that is HARD to break...or can you even break it ??
ANYway...I use them ALL THE BLESSED TIME !!
**
" Melmac is the name for plastic dinnerware that was created with the use of melamine.
First developed in the 1940s, melamine resin is easily molded into a number of different shapes and is extremely durable. During the middle of the 20th century, Melmac dinnerware could be found in just about every home in the United States, owing to the low cost and easy care of the dishes."
**********************
THEY ARE WONDERFUL !!
*
Just look at all this REDNESS...
is it any wonder that MOST folks in the world
LUV this color !!
*
Yellow and red....
A POWERFUL COMBO
**
This little tiny candle was sent to me from the SWEETEST NANCY that had SOUTHERN LADY blog.
I am not sure she is still there.... but I am checking.

SHE said she saw this little candle with my name on it and just HAD to get it and send to me.
I was TICKLED PINK when I received it in the mail.
Such a thoughtful thing to do for a blogging buddy.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This setting sure puts me in the mood for
PIMENTO CHEESE SANDWICHES
DILL PICKLES
A DOUBLE HANDFUL OF POTATO CHIPS
A BIG SLICE OF CANTALOPE
CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES AND ICE CREAM
ICED TEA, LEMONADE OR........
BLACKBERRY WINE...heh heh heh..it's 5 o'clock SOMEwhere !
**
AMAZING GRACE...HOW SWEET THE SOUND.....
*
MR. SWEET said I could have my ole PIMENTO CHEESE SANDWICH if I wanted to ...
BUT HE would rather have a GRILLED STEAK and ONIONS with POTATO SALAD...
I said " PHOOY on a sandwich...PLEZZZZZ make me a steak, too".....
and .... HE DID ..!!
**
Our family, like yours, will pause on this MEMORIAL DAY to offer thanks to our GOD for HIS grace and glory. We will thank our veterans from the bottom of our hearts and souls for ALL they have given .
BJ, wonderful use of the red, white, and blue with a touch of yellow. Cardinal and straw - Chi Omega colors! :-)
Your table is perfect for the holiday. I need to get one put together. We'll have my husband's brother and his wife here for dinner. Both my husband and his twin are veterans, so the evening will be in their honor.
Have a great weekend! ~ Sarah
BJ- I prayed that prayer this moring for our brave soldiers. Thanks for posing it! I am always very emotional on Patriotic Holidays! God has been so good to us! And we have so much to thank Him for... and we must remember the families of our fallen with such gratitude too!
Our family goes to a Fort Indiantown Gap National Cemetary, where my father rests to visit his grave and remembering him for being a faithful soldier and a wonderful dad. Then we are having a big family picnic! And I see that you are ready for one too! Your red, white and blue is so heartwarming and patriotic. I love the use of the fun plates and the big blue vintage picnic basket!
Have a fun day full of family and love!
Blessings,
Yvonne
Thanks so much for a beautiful tribute to Memorial Day and the reason for the holiday.
My wonderful hubby served 22 years in the Navy. Tomorrow we will visit Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery. It is a very beautiful place, but a bit sad when you do a 360 and see all the grave markers. Hubby volunteered for the funeral detail there for many years.
May you and your family enjoy your day tomorrow.
Blessings,
Jilly
What a festive table. I'm so glad you didn't paint the picnic basket even though I love anything red. Now, I'm hungry for pimento cheese sandwiches - my mother made them all of the time for my lunch. Enjoy your weekend. Sally
What a wonderful post for Memorial Day! A great way to honor our soldiers! I do love those dishes, wish they $60.00 card would come with the dishes! lol You should use your picnic with iced Tea on Tea Time Tuesday this week! I know everyone will just love it! I love the basket, the flatware in the glass bowl. Those glass bowls come in handy I have many, left over from an outdoor wedding I have not been on the computer much, the last 3 weeks. Hoping to feel better soon! Doc gave me another medicine for my asthma. That makes six different meds! lol Hope you have a wonderful Holiday with the wonderful picnic!
I did my first tablescape yesterday! I never had the chance to do them because my hubby loves to read his newspaper on the Dining Room Table !! And with 2 sons, they would look at me as if I lost my mind. LOL!!
I wanted to tell you that I adore your header!! Is it a Thomas Kinkaide???????
The finest ruby there is is set within the stars and stripes!
That said, the tablescape sets the tone for the meal, so the care in its crafting lets us guests feel as honored as we do. Fine eatin' too, and I must say those fried onions are divine! Happy Memorial Day!!
