A few of my 2009 projects....

SOME of my projects were just tiny ones...projects, nevertheless..
A few were bigger ones that, for the most part, I enjoyed.
***
RHODA is our host for the TOP 2009 PROJECTS...
I did this last year, too, and it was such fun.
Go by and see all the PROJECT 2009 highlights...
You'll love 'em !!

Just changing out all the kitchen cabinet liners made my little red kitchen look more "put together".....

Some of you will remember my POTTERY BARN look-alike candle sticks....
**
They were brass and a GOODWILL find...
This was probably one of my most fun projects because I fell in luv with the finished product !!
AND...
that little table that was just under $3.00....
**
...that I dressed in RED..
**
and, of course, my POTTERY BARN look-alike CHRISTMAS wreath....
***
I GOT STRIPES !!!
**
Just covering the back of my RED hutch seemed (to me) to make my
BLUE and WHITE TRANSFERWARE stand out a little more.
The fabric can be removed any time that I might want to try something else...
***

When I saw this photo of a hallway (first photo on your left), I realized that
an entry COULD have personality.......even a long, narrow one, like mine.
**
Sooo, I began layering and adding texture to make MY entry say,
"COME ON IN....YOU ARE SO WELCOME HERE"
**
Just adding some cuteness can add a LOT of charm....
***

AND....O GOSH !....THE LAUNDRY CLOSET
YEP......THE......LAUNDRY CLOSET !
The downright SCARY laundry closet that was neglected for years and years...
and then...BLOGGING entered my life and I saw that OTHER people
dressed THEIR work areas in as pretty a dress as they possibly could...
**
SO...I decided that a UTILITY CLOSET could be somewhat pretty, too.
Altho it is NOT a room that I throw open the doors when guests are here...
I AM proud of it every time I wash and dry clothes !! :O)
IT'S NO LONGER U.G.L.Y.
It now has a wonderful shade of sunny yellow on the walls and that made a WORLD of difference...
Yellow makes EVERYthing more happy !!
***

My old bedroom on your left, my inspiration on your right (Tina's at CHERRY HILL COTTAGE)
I am probably proudest of THIS transformation than any other....
I LOVE how my room turned out...
even tho I was thrown into the cussing mode while removing WALL PAPER BORDER!!
**

Once upon a time....I had a PINK guest bedroom...
mine on your left, my inspiration on the right.
but, then......
**
I wanted to go with creamy white walls and my loved
BLACK and WHITE, with red....
**
I LOVE IT !
BEFORE...
(I don't have a photo of how it looked when I bought it...before blogging days.
**
It's a display rack that was used in a lumber yard. When they went out of business, I bought this rack for $5.00 and MR. SWEET was shaking his head all the time he was paying for it and I was dragging it out to his pickup !! :O)
I took it home, spray painted it a dark green and used it that way for several years...
**
but, then.....
**

...one day I was looking at it and thought that it could be prettier !
Out came the FRENCH BLACK spray paint....
**
With a fresh coat of French Black, some vintage locker baskets holding some of my treasured cookbooks, stacks of plates and my hanging vintage brass ladles..and a pot of IVY for softness,
I'm in luv......AGAIN !
**
The CONKLIN sign was made by one of my favorite artists...SUSIE HARRIS..She is awesome!
She can make ANYTHING ! And is a PRO at making POTTERY BARN look-alikes....
**
The stoneware covered casserole dish is my first piece of PAULA DEEN stoneware...got it for Christmas!
*
The wire bread basket...GOODWILL...and I just love it..
That's just vintage shutter swinging doors propted up behind the display rack that
wants to be a BAKERS RACK when it grows up !!

VISIT RHODA...
SINCE I generally leave you with something to eat...I just HAD to show you my most FUN CAKE to make in the glorous year of 2009...
********.

THE WILD VINES BLACKBERRY WINE CAKE

that turned out so pretty, I bought flowers for it....

What a wonderful year 2009 was for me. HE sent me so many blessings that I can't even BEGIN to tell you about. I pray that YOUR year was a good one and I really do have the strongest feeling that 2010 is going to be blessed for ALL OF US...

You keep saying you aren't crafty but I think these projects prove otherwise! You are so good at turning something plain into a thing of beauty. I wish you could come up here and give me some advice on my own home:>) These projects are awesome!

I had so much fun looking at your home, projects, food, family gathering! I still love the fabric behind the shelves. I love the roosters. I make Martha Stewart Lemon Pie for years and years and years. lol It is great and turns out perfect! I do love lemon pie! I love the Paula Dean bowl! I wish! I do have her tea kettle though.

I love your laundry closet. I, too, have a closet that no body sees but me; but I really should do something about it. Wait until I tell Bob he has to move the washer and dryer out and paint the walls. I can't even imagine the crud under those machines. Oh yes, I need to do something!! Sally

Wonderful post BJ!! Some of the projects I had seen but some were new. All of them are my favorites because they all took hard work and creativity. I do have to say that I look forward to Pottery Barn makeovers!! It's a great feeling to know that some things are just so inexpensive if you take the time to fiddle with them. And you and I both did the red stripe project from Country Living Magazine. That was fun! :-)

Well 2009 was a great year and 2010 will be better. I will have to get on the project bandwagon soon!!

xoxo

Geez BJ, just make the rest of us look bad while you're at it! I could never do all those wonderfully crafty things you've done, and they've made a HUGE difference.

That rack may once have graced a lumberyard, but now it IS a baker's rack!

You know I love that bedroom the best though. Ahhhhhhhhhhhh.
