L♥♥KS I LOVE......

HI, YA'LL
I have been browsing online and blogs and coming up with some cool stuff...
things I like....
looks I love....

This bedroom is so charming to me...
I think it's from COUNTRY LIVING.

I have determined that I like

COMFY.....
INFORMAL....
RELAXED......

for ALL my rooms.

....blues and whites....hmmmmm......
 country living

I used BLUES in my decorating for so long......years and years,
that I became totally BURNED OUT ON THE COLOR BLUE....
 country living...

NOW, all at once, I am noticing BLUE more than I have in years.
AM I FICKLE....??
My tastes seem to change yearly....monthly.....sometimes, DAILY.
I tend to BLAME IT ALL ON YOU....BLOGGERS....
talented bloggers that can turn my head towards so many other rooms
just full of beauty.

THESE adorable,
smaller slat SHUTTERS,
painted in a creamy white,
paired with those
luscious BLUE drapes....
takes my breath away !

I click on CRAIG'S LIST almost every day to see if I can find some cute, small-slat shutters to paint a creamy white.
Years ago, you could buy them at home improvement stores but now I think you have to have them custom made....which means
MORE $'S.....

I love this look......
a cross between formal (chandy) and high-class country..(the vintage style, enamel BREAD BOX, the whitewashed table and cabinet.)

...a delightful mixture

I's a tad bit more than I could live with, probably.....but I'd like to give it a whirl....:)

A tip, found in COUNTRY LIVING
"Shop the kids’ catalogs. Pottery Barn’s offspring, PB Teen, stocks some surprisingly sophisticated merch at junior prices—including this glass lamp that we filled with dictionary pages. Other fun possibilities: beach glass, branches, or vintage matchbooks. "

Of course, NOW, I want to do a lamp with DICTIONARY PAGES....
wouldn't that be so cute ....!!
I love that look.

...another great BUDGET DECORATING tip......IF you have an awesome, white chair and a BEAUTIFUL RUG.....

"Avoid reupholstering altogether. This slipcovered seat got a facelift—fast—via a folded, lightweight cotton rug. In the background, a floral curtain keeps the pattern going."
I am really loving the blue and whites....
could be because I am about to have a CLEAN SLATE to decorate...
and my eyes sure are sparkling when I see certain shades of BLUES.....

I have a basket like this that just needs the whitewash....

Why didn't I think of doing this? How do all you talented people THINK up these things???

Well, I am tickled to death that you DO think of these cutie things so that I can
do what I do best....
COPY. CAT. !!

This lovely is from

Unanimous ...
she has an adorable blog...when you go over, tell her bj said HEY. :)
 ♫♪♪...yes, it's me and I'm in love again.....♫♫♪

Yep, I still like THIS look, too....even tho the pieces are all
bought together...
It took me over 2 years to get the pieces I wanted for my guest room.
I THINK....think, mind you, that I am about ready to tackle that room.
O, mine won't be JUST like this....
the pieces aren't cheap....
I'm on a strict budget....
and besides.....you KNOW I have to put my own SPIN on it..
NOTE....
I know you've heard of MURPHY'S LAW...
yep...now that I have most of this bedding, we are moving...
BUT....there will be a guest room there..a lovely basement bedroom.
I know I have sounded vague about where we are moving but I'll be telling you and
showing you just as soon as I can.

your gonna love it tuesday

  1. Hi BJ, Lots of beauty here! I'm so surprised to hear that you are moving. I believe you've lived in your home for many, many years and I know how much you adore it...and all the handiwork Mr. Sweet has put into it. Hope this is a good and welcome move for both of you. Take care and Merry Christmas!

  3. Oh I will be eager to see where you are off to...hope that it's not too far...unless you're coming to my corner, which would be just fine with me! But, no, you're in God's country down there in Texas. Wherever you go, you will create home, beautifully create home. You could create home in a tree top!

  8. The blue and white is so fresh to look at. I've almost decided to go with blue in my kitchen next time we paint, at the moment it is a light green and white.
Looking forward to hearing about and seeing your new home.

  10. I'm so excited for you! Mind you, I ADORE they home you have now, I love your style to death! But I know you will have a blast starting with a clean slate. I have started loving the blue and white too, All of my walls except two rooms are now white, something my girls are still trying to reconcile with the mother who wouldn't entertain the idea of white walls the entire time they were growing up:>) I am contemplating blue in the dining room and I have already covered the chair seats in a pretty blue ticking. Now all I need is some sweet blue print for curtians. I love what you have found, especially the bedroom photo!

I like the endless ways you could fill the bottom of that glass lamp.

  12. Hi sweet BJ. I have no doubt that your new home will be wonderful. When we moved here this summer I wanted to totally switch colors and just couldn't do it. I love my red too much. So, I have guest rooms that are bluish. I'll be showing those soon. Even trying to talk hubby into planking one of the walls.

  16. After many years, I've just come back to blue myself! It all started with a single flow blue plate. What fun you will have doing up your new place!

  18. I loved every idea. I had so much blue around here from the previous owner that it took me years to get rid of it. And now... wouldn't you know it? I'm getting on a blue kick too.

I also had some of those shutters, but they wouldn't work with any window here. I love them.

  19. Those are all lovely! I have a bay window in my bedroom exactly like the one with the little shutters, but I don't have a window seat--don't have the shutters, either, but now I have seen this, I have to look for some!! I have moved a gazillion times, and it is such fun to start anew. Even when I didn't really want to move, it always turned into an adventure, and I never regretted moving in the end. I hope it will be fabulous for you!!

I can hardly think (or type straight). This is such a big, big, big piece of Blogging News! Gracious me! Gracious me! Gracious me! I am near word-less. And you know, it takes a LOT to do that to "Auntie."

Oh I want to know, alllllllll about this!!!!!!!! I do!!!!!! I may burst if you don't tell me more!!!

  23. When we bought this house, 26 years ago, I had a lot of blue. Got rid of most of it except for our bedroom and bath. As of now, I am happy without the blue, although I love blue. Whatever colors you choose will work out beautiful as you know how to put it all together. That will be a big change for you from black, white and red, but may be a good change. Good luck. I know you are excited.

  26. BJ, such wonderful photos - LOVE LOVE shutters, and would have them in every room in my house if I had the $$ - oh, but maybe when I win tomorrow night's Mega Lotto I can get 'em then ;-) I like the red, black and white bedroom theme, too.

  28. BJ, we have always used blue in our home. I mix it with yellow and red in several of our rooms. Couldn't live without blue in my life. ;-)
Eager to hear more about the "new" abode. When do you move?

  30. My house was totally blue before we downsized. When we moved I went with neutral tones. I think I will start introducing more blue again. That first bed was made for moi, I think. Country is a good thing.

  31. Good morning bj, Whew, we had a humdinger of a Thanksgiving weekend. Always busy but this morning I am getting an early start on visiting. I am missing my darling blog friends. That would be you.

Your blue and white pics are darling. I see you are getting revved up to start decorating a new space. I used to have blue and white years ago as well. When we moved to the mountains the only blue and white is in the cabin guest room. I added yellow to the mix.

Where are you moving bj? I probably missed that post.I can't imagine you leaving your darling home that is decorated so perfectly charming.

Love you much my dear sister friend. Please don't overdo moving.

  32. Hello again bj, It just took me nearly an hour to catch up with your posts I have missed. It was a huge wake up call to realize how much I have missed. Winter is the time when all is quieter and we stay home. I have a mighty challenge to visit more often. Your posts are always fun and full of the best photos of your life's journal and I am not missing anymore. I learned that I can replace my adorable muffin papers at Michaels. Now I just have to find a Michaels. I used to play Bunco and loved it. I found the post where you announced your move. (my goal) Tell us more.

Love you and I have 'missed' you so much.

  33. BJ,
I'm lovin' the LOOKS YOU LOVE, too!!!
Hard to get in the make~over or re~decorating mood when you're packing things away for a move. . .but I'm thrilled that you're sharing new looks and ideas that are going through your design creativity!!! Blue may be new to the decor world, but I had plenty of it beginning in the the 70's from raising sons!!! Ha!!! Keep us guessing, we'll keep watching for that new home to merge!
    Fondly,
    Pat
