I hope your Thanksgiving was wonderful.
We had most of our family with us...a couple of the married grands were other places and a grand living off in Portland (but he called us and just thrilled us to pieces). We're hoping they will ALL be here for Christmas.
We were blessed to have 13 around our Thanksgiving table and how thrilled we were to have them. They are all healthy, happy and busy and for this, we are thankful.
The 12 lb. turkey looked good, even BEFORE being roasted,
with all those citrus fruits, butter and herbs....:)
I used a different method of baking the turkey this year...
a recipe right out of COUNTRY LIVING, Nov. 2009.
I couldn't find THE recipe on their site...but THIS ONE is very close.
My turkey didn't look as PRETTY as theirs...but it was so tender and moist
and we ATE THE WHOLE THING. !! :)....NO LEFTOVERS.....yay!!
....and, we had a small pork tenderloin from a recipe out of the JAN. 2013 issue of COUNTRY LIVING.Trimmed by
MR. SWEET, wrapped in BACON and probably the best we'd ever eaten.
GREAT RECIPE!!
Mr. Sweet is also our SALAD MAKER
and he stayed busy for quite awhile, making the BEST green salad.
*shhhhh...don't tell him I said so but, he cut the tomatoes and put them in a separate dish, to add to the salad just before serving..and he forgot them.
O, but the all green salad was delicious anyway, with fresh squeezed lemon juice. :))
We had ALL the trimmings,......
candied yams
dressing
giblet gravy
carrots and RANCH
that great Green salad
hot rolls
mack and cheese
Fruit bowl...
and 3 of the best PIES from CRACKER BARREL and I forgot to take photos of those beauties....
BUT.....
I did get a photo of the MAKER of those pies....♥
Yes sir ree bob....
my grandlove, BROOKS, is the pie and salad maker at our Cracker Barrel here...
....and he is JUST AS SWEET as he is CUTE....and I love him.
...two grands and a memaw
BLESSING BY THE BUNCH.
I do so love all these people....with all my heart.
♥ ♥ ♥
I hope YOUR day was a great one....
and please don't forget to say prayers for all the people
still suffering from the damage by SANDY.

ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful, blessed Thanksgiving you had. I love the picture of the three of you but I do think you all should have struck the Hear No Evil/See No Evil/Speak No Evil pose....not that I think you look like monkeys or anything, you understand.

ReplyDeleteLovely post, "BJ"!
ReplyDeleteBut do you know what I liked best? That Mr. Sweet cut the tomatoes and forgot to add them.
Yes! It's so good to hear that others of we-olden-folks, do things like this! -gigggles- I had to tell Uncle A. that one. :-)))))
Oh and some other blogger said that every Thanksgiving, she is the only one who HAS to have cranberry sauce. And she forgot all about it, till done with eating.
ReplyDelete-giggggles-
Oh doesn't it make us all feel better, when we read such things? It's just plain natural! That's what it is! Just plain natural! To forget stuff, now and then.
"Auntie" sezzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz...!!!
Oh how I love family time together, food/fun/family... can't beat it! I bet Mr. Sweet's salad was yummy even without the tomatoes:) Have a blessed day dear BJ, BIG HUGS!

ReplyDeleteI played too. Mine are here and here.
So glad you had a great thanksgiving. Your family is so lovely now I know why you are so proud of them all. The meal sounded delicious. My day was great I only had my daughter, Deann, and her family here so that made just 5 of us, but it was enjoyable. We had turkey, creamed potatoes, green beans, strawberry jello with strawberries mixed in, baby carrots, pecan pie and pumpkin pie (Both of which I made)
ReplyDeleteOh yes I had to have chicken nuggets for my one grandson who will not eat turkey for some reason. I did not take any pictures now I wish I had. Have a blessed day. Madeline
Glad you had such a great Thanksgiving! You have a lovely family :)

You and family did it the right way. As always, the food just about puts me under. I spent mine in the woods on a picnic table. Never spent a Thanksgiving like it in my 83 years.
ReplyDeleteVery attractive Bunch you have there. We had 17 including 5 toddlers. My BIL deep fried a turkey and I took a 23lb roasted one. Both were yummy. We had all the trimmings as well plus pies (pumpkin, pumpkin chiffon and pecan.Oh gosh-I'm getting hungry.
ReplyDeleteAnn
