Hey hey everyone,
Isn't this a fantastic time of the year.? We are having such awesome weather now that the wind has stopped blowing. Just beautiful......a little cool but not COLD yet.
Some of you may remember that a few months back, Mr. Sweet and I built a wall
of BOOKSHELVES for our daughter, STACY.
"Well, we'll build you some, little girl."
and, we did.
♥ ♥ ♥
Our shelves are on one end of the livingroom and that section is known as
THE LIBRARY.....!! :))

...her daddy, mama, hubby and youngest cutie boy joined in the fun.
THEN, her house was hit by softball size hail with a 90 mile an hour wind driving them.

Really tore her lovely house up.
♥
So, the shelves went "on hold" for awhile.
They were finished and primed when the storm hit but had to stay
in the shop until the house was repaired.
♥
After having new hardwood floors installed, we were ready to PAINT....
and INSTALL those awesome shelves.
Here they are, all painted and drying.
Stacy and I painted for a couple of days as we are using oil based paint and it takes a good 24 hours to dry between coats.
They are lookin' mighty fine....:)
THEY worked....
I took pictures....♥
Not a picture to do them justice...taken with phone and at night, I think.
But, they do look so pretty in her beautiful room and she is so proud of them.
That in itself makes her daddy and I VERY happy.

When I got home from her house, I decided to make a Frittata for our dinner.
Frittatas are good for breakfast, lunch, dinner and all in between. :)

I forgot to take a photo of mine before I cut it....
Mine looked like this except for the spinach.
The following photos ARE my Frittata.....
It was REALLY good.
It was REALLY good.
The wonderful thing about a Frittata is that you can use just about ANYthing
you want.....or have on hand.
My version: (and I seldom MEASURE anything.....sorry)
6 eggs
3/4 cup grated Extra SHARP CHEDDAR
large tablespoon of SOUR CREAM
diced Anaheim pepper, green onions and diced potatoes, sauteed in butter,
then added to the egg mixture.
Crumbled BACON
A small handful FLOUR
Course ground black pepper
Salt to taste
Sprinkling of RED PEPPER flakes
Mixed it all and poured into deep dish glass pie plate
350 degrees for about 45 minutes or until center is firm when shaken.
It was so good and really hit the spot after a day of blessed work....
with my girl. ♥ ♥ ♥

Oh they came out fantastically! Parents like you are good to know. =)
ReplyDeleteTalent tends to run in your family. You hit the jackpot with your Mr.Sweet. He is very good at wood working and you are an amazing cook.
ReplyDeleteThe book shelves are wonderful! Think I may have to try that fritata!
ReplyDeleteWhat great bookshelves! I know they mean a lot to her, especially since they are custom made by family.
ReplyDeleteWe have a handy son who makes all my projects. The shelves really finish off her room and adds lots of storage. I bookmarked that frittata for dinner one night this week and will think of you when I make it. Yum.
ReplyDeleteI am a newbie, have been following but have not commented. So here I come out from my shyness. The shelves are just beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI have fallen in love with black and white with a touch of red. So that will be how I do my new decorating.

The shelves are really nice and they do look good in her house. Have a blessed day. Madeline
ReplyDeleteThey are awesome! Good job to all of you. Looks like you had a great team! Cheers.
ReplyDeleteThose shelves are gorgeous beyond words! We really need some like that in our house. Can you come to our place next? Haha :)
ReplyDeleteYour frittata looks yummy! They are a great way to use up eggs when our hens are on a laying spree in the spring/summer.
Oh my! I'm so glad all were safe after such a nasty storm. And don't those bookshelves look grand! I once had a house with a tiny library and LOVED it. Maybe someday again I will. We shall see. Happy Rednesday and Merry Christmas :)
ReplyDeleteThe book shelves look great. That fritata is looking delicious. You are the same way I am. When I'm just cooking (not baking) I kind of go by taste and looks instead of measurements. Sometimes I get more of a surprise than I bargained for that way.
ReplyDeleteYum Yum. How sweet of you and the Mr. to make such great shelves for your daughter.
ReplyDeleteBJ,
ReplyDeleteThis gift from You, "Mr. Sweet, her husband and son...is now and forever will be a "priceless treasure"!!! I'm sure everytime she passes those shelves, she'll feel wrapped in your love!!!
Fondly,
Pat

ReplyDeleteI loved this post! Loved the shelves! Loved the frittata! But I could NOT get past that photo on your driveway with that GORGEOUS RV sitting there!!! I think I may be drooling a little bit......
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful shelving unit. She must be blown away. How sad about her house though! That is really awful.
ReplyDeleteYour food looks great! Makes me hungry indeed- xo Diana
These shelves area a work of art; loved reading this; so happy everyone is fine even with that storm. Nothing beats a frittata. Yous guys should start a business.
ReplyDeleteRita
I would love some shelves like that! I think they came out just wonderfully. (I remember that storm that hit her house.)
ReplyDeleteBelieve it or not, I have never had a frittata. I need to remedy that, don't I?
Oh my goodness! The shelves are fab and the frittata looks yummy!
ReplyDeleteWe do anything for our kids, don't we bj? Those shelves are beauties and I know your daughter loves them to pieces. Your frittata looks mighty tasty.
ReplyDeleteLucky gal to have Dad come and build such good-looking shelves!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your Ramsign win! I am still waiting for my big rock. Every time my husband goes down to pick it up he gets into a nice long conversation with our friend who has the rocks (excavating company) and they end up going off to look at machinery or something, and he comes home with an empty truck. Methinks I'll have to go next time!
I love the bookshelves! Someday, I want shelves just like them in my extra bedroom. It's just not an extra bedroom yet, because my son is still at home, but when he decides to move out - I want wall to wall bookshelves on one wall - for books and toys for the grandkids. It's going to be my children's library. :-) Kids who are exposed to lots and lots of books always turn out to be good readers!
ReplyDeleteHey I want a bookshelf too, reacon yall could send me a Christmas present, since yall would be mailing/shipping,you can down size a tad-bit,teehehehehe.
ReplyDeleteBj you asked the color of my walls,we painted all the interior walls the same color,it's called WASHED KHAKI ...thanks for noticing..:)
The shelves are wonderful, and I know your daughter is grateful and thrilled. So sorry about the damage to her home, and happy to hear that it has been repaired.
ReplyDeleteI love frittata! That looks delicious!
