A few of the "LOOKS" I Luv....

MOVING on to other things besides THE ELECTION....
and may I say here that Mr. Sweet and I will continue to respect the Office of the President and continue praying for Pres. Obama, as he is in charge of leading our nation.
Pray with us that he will choose options wisely and work for the betterment of our great country.

Hi, Ya'll...
I always have a file with "LOOKS I LIKE" going on and I thought I'd share a few with you today.
Most of the photos I have credits for ..... some, I don't. Sorry about that and if you see YOURS or someone you know, PLEASE let me know and I'll give them credit. THANK U

BHG
This is a lot like folks "decorated" when I was younger...
we, too, hung favorite photos on a string, across windows...
stuck photos on our mirrors...

I absolutely just love it.

Once, when my Aunt Bonnie was  young, she papered the walls of her bedroom with
JOHN WAYNE  photos that she cut out of magazines. It was just adorable....
I wonder now how she attached them to the wall...??......probably with Scotch Tape. :)

This is a little 1930's dresser in a guest room.

I absolutely love it to pieces...I like the 3, beveled mirrors, the drawers and the overall size of the sweetie.

It's in excellent shape..and all three of the oval mirrors are perfect.

Can you see the little
WORN SPOT on the corner, by the photo of the little boy?
...here, let me get closer....

.....there it is...it's the only worn spot on the dresser...
I know it is from a cute little teen in the 30's....putting her hand on the same spot every time she leaned in to see her pretty face in that mirror.
She probably had a handsome sailor, waiting for her, downstairs....
She probably had on a cute, short dress, bright red lipstick, long blond hair and
bright blue eyes......*sigh
Yes.........I LOVE this little worn spot.....it warms my heart...
...o, i am such a hopeless romantic....
has the adorable green NIGHT STAND that I would kill for...
I am looking HI and LO for one JUST LIKE IT.
I love the character of it...
the differentness  (I just made up a new word)
the CHARM....
WOW...the colors are awesome here. While I might not could live with an orchid chair...
I absolutely LOVE the arrangement here in front of the window...so much better than having the table/desk flat up against a wall..........yep....just love this and love how she stacked her file boxes and etc. ON THE WINDOWSILL...just love that !!
I am going to turn a table "out into the room" like this....

Well, that does it !!

Now, I am pretty much gonna have to have  A HALF DOOR...with awesome hardware...

too cute for words

TOWN AND COUNTRY LIVING
HOLY COW...isn't THIS just awesome. Talk about charm...and character....it's loaded with both.

going to do this somewhere in my  house.
Don't you love how she used olden window frames to create the feeling of windows?

.....informal
.....comfy
.....just plain CUTE

...if ever I have wooden floors, I would paint those babies....look how cute these are.

The blogger name that this photo belongs to is right on the tip of my tongue but I just can't think...

and like an absolute IDIOT, I didn't keep her name.
SORRY.....

...and what is it about wooden shutters that makes my heart beat a little faster??
 BHG....(i think)
Wouldn't we ALL love such a HAPPY PLACE ??
I love this sooo much. It reminds me of how my mother's bedroom looked when I was a little girl....
PAULA that lives in THE PRIMITIVE HOME really knows how to create the cozy comfort that eludes so many homes. I find myself going to her blog time and time again to study the photos of her rooms...to see how she creates that homey, warm feeling.
Her decorating is so relaxed...not all matchy....just the kind of rooms I want for my home.
I could just start at her bedroom door and run and jump into this beautiful bed.

I believe that she is a fairly new blogger so when you have time, go by to visit with her...and would you kindly tell her bj said HEY....?

...and just take a look at this amazing kitchen.
I sure like not having the standard cabinets on this one wall.
DRU that lives in THE COUNTRY FARM HOME loves her cabinets
that her hubs built for her.
I love them, too, Dru.
*ONE BIG HEAVY SIGH....
I really, really, REALLY want a cozy little kitchen JUST LIKE THIS.
I love the compactness of it...
the large window above the sink is just to die for...
I love the corner cabinet with the little open shelves on either side of
THE  FARMHOUSE  SINK...
and, of course, I am crazy about the little fabric skirt beneath that
take my breath away SINK.
Is there one single person on the planet that wouldn't LOVE having a beautiful, comfy SLEEPING PORCH....????.....I think NOT. :))
This amazing space belongs to AT HOME ON THE BAY.
If I am not mistaken, that is a HUDSON BAY wool blanket on the foot of the bed.
My mother had one many years ago and I sure wish I had it now.
AWWW, MAN.....I really would LOVE having this room.

As some of you might know, we are planning a move in the next 6 to 7 months...
somewhere around the last of April.
Altho it might be a little tiny bit sad to leave the house we've lived in and
enjoyed for almost 40 years,
it is very exciting to move on to 'new territory'.

I am having fun looking at photos of all these pretty rooms, getting tons
of good ideas.
It seems I find at least one thing I like in every picture I look at.

We will be downsizing, adding on to an existing house
and it will be fun, choosing wall colors (creamy white but so many shades to choose from),
flooring.....appliances......sinks....counter tops....O MY !!
Please wish us good luck on making this huge decision and offer up

bj, I love all these things, too. Love love that cozy bedroom and the sleeping porch. It would be very hard leaving a home you spent that long in, but fun to start new memories.

Beej, I love the compact kitchen with the mint green appliances. If I won the lottery and moved, I would make a kitchen just like that. Good luck on your move! It will be bittersweet after have lived in the house for 40 years, and raising your family. But how exciting to start a new chapter in your lives! And the decorating fun! Will you remain in TX? Same town? xo

BJ, didn't know you were moving. I understand the mix of feelings. We are looking for a different house too....one that doesn't have so many levels. Change is difficult for me, but if the right house comes our way I'm ready to make a move again. We lived in our first home 20 years, and have been in this one for 16. Time flies.........Sarah

bj I love all these looks! Gosh so much to dream about! I didn't know you were moving! Are you staying in the same area just getting another house? I know it must be hard, but it's also a fun adventure! I moved into my home almost 4 years ago and it's great. A one level brick ranch with screened porch...love it! I'm praying for your move and for our country and that we can all move forward. Big Hugs, Linda

I didn't know you planned to move -- how fun, but sad, too. At our age, we all need a little less to take care of - downsizing sounds like a good thing. Best of luck, and looking forward to you adding your special touch to another house and telling us all about it on your blog! Sally

BJ, are y'all changing towns or just houses? Having just moved, I can tell you it was more emotional that I expected to be. You have time to prepare though and we did it kind of quickly....my head is still spinning.

The green nightstand is my favorite too. It looks handmade. I know if my husband was still alive he could take one look at it and get busy in the garage and I would have a new bedside table. He made beautiful pieces of furniture.

All of your favorite pictures are wonderful! I really love the sleeping porch (a fantasy of mine) and the kitchen. The patio is cute, too!

I had no idea you were moving! What a huge endeavor. I wish you all the best. It's going to be hard work but I know you will make your new house a home and be able to do all those pretty things with it that you have been dreaming about!

Not that the election is over let's stick with this ""Give to Caesar what is Caesar's and to God what is God's." Mark.

I love your choices and I know you'll build something lovely wherever you go.

I just love looking at photos like these. So many wonderful ideas! The bedroom from The Primitive Home looks so comfy, I could cry! I just want to hop right onto that bed & take a long nap!

I love all your inspirational pictures, bj. I did NOT know that you are going to be moving. I missed that somewhere along the way. Do you know that the longest we have ever lived in a house has been 6 years (in the 37 years we have been married). I think we will be selling this, too, come spring and, like you, downsizing.
Blessing and prayers to you. xo Diana

How FAR are you moving from where you live now? Do you have family there?

I loved every single look!! I think the reason why is because you don't HAVE to spend a lot of money buying matching furniture. It all just spells HOME to me. My favorite place to be! :)
You are SO neat, bj! Just a really GOOD and caring person and I am so glad I met you and Mr. Sweet.

Update: My Sandy is quitting work, finishing up and preparing for someone to take over her massive job as office manager for five doctors. Because of insurance she is having to stay as long as humanly possible in spite of the stress. We don't know if the Chemo pills are at least slowing things or not. We are in limbo.
One step at a time. She is very thin. My girl looks..tired.

I would pin and save so many if not all of these same things. I must love your style. I can't imagine how hard it would be to leave a home you've made for forty years, but oh the adventure of starting a whole new project! The best part is that I get to peek in the windows while you work.

Sandy said...

I love so many of those spaces but especially the kitchen with the little space for the pretty green mixer right by the sink and those pretty windows. I think it reminds me of my mom's kitchen windows and little "what not" shelves built into the corner. I also want that sleeping porch. We are looking for property so that we can move to Texas when we retire in a few years. It is bittersweet thinking of selling the house and farm that we love and have lived on for 28 years, I don't know how we will be able to do it but I don't have a reason to live in the Midwest for much longer and I always love Texas and wish it was home.

We have exactly the same taste, I love every singe one of those picture. I have moved sooo many times, born into a military family, married into the military, then it was civilian job transfers, etc. I never lived anyplace I did not love, some more than others, but one can be happy anywhere. Funny thing was, as much as I loved a place, I never truly minding moving--I always saw it as an adventure, a new beginning. I hope this move will be so, for you.

BJ There comes a time in our lives when we tend to have too much stuff... and our large homes are no longer needed. We downsized 3 years ago while we still had our health and I have never looked back. This will certainly be an exciting time and a new chapter. All the best!!

Such pretty pictures!

And yeah... you're right. We should be praying for the president. May God reveal Himself to that man and shoe him who is ultimately in control and have mercy on him, guide his life and save his soul. AND SAVE OUR COUNTRY! Just seeing the results of this election tell us our country is in real spiritual trouble. It's so, so sad! God help us.

It's got to be sad to leave a house after all these years, but still exciting - an adventure!

Oh, I can see why you picked each and every picture. Some may be too "country" for my current decor, but I still love to look at them.

I didn't know about the move...tell me, tell me! Did you write a post on it that I missed? Where? Have you already bought a different place? Details please and certainly prayers. I'm sure it will be bittersweet, but fixing up new places is so much fun!
