Hi, Ya'll,
I just don't know when I have enjoyed AUTUMN so much. Maybe it's our weather...it's just out done itself, I think. It's a little windy today...blowing cooler air towards us and....I AM ALL READY FOR IT.We have wood stacked beside our patio doors...just waiting to be carried inside to make a big roaring fire....
In the meantime, I am BAKING....trying to put good things to eat in our tummies and our freezer. :)
KATHY at KATHY'S COTTAGE posted a photo of the best looking
and I couldn't wait to make one, too.
Kathy and I both added 1/2 cup of APPLESAUCE to replace 1/2 cup of oil,
making only 1/2 cup of oil for the whole cake.....and it is sooo moist.
...I mean, after all....I DO have words in my kitchen that tells me to
EAT CAKE....

EAT CAKE....
Along with peppers and tomatoes, I bought 2 different kinds of APPLES at the market...
both tart as they are best to use in making PIES and CAKES, so the real cooks tell me.
I baked my cake in a bundt pan 'cause.....well.....I just love bundt cakes.
So pretty....slice so nicely....works perfectly.
I made a PECAN PRALINE sauce to drizzle over the cake and
Mr. Sweet and I agreed on one thing that was WRONG with it...
there wasn't ENUF....Oh, my...this is sooo good and the next time,
I will double my recipe.....FOR SURE !
PECAN PRALINE SAUCE/GLAZE
1/2 cup sugar (I used IDEAL SUGAR SUB)
1/4 cup buttermilk
1/2 teaspoon soda
1 tablespoon syrup
1/4 cup butter
cap full Vanilla
handful chopped pecans or pecan halves
*
Boil gently 10 minutes ...
pour over cake.
You just MIGHT want to double this....it's awfully gooood.

I'm so glad you liked it BJ! I added extra apples too, it is an apple cake after all. Our family made caramel sauce for the top but next time I'm trying the praline sauce! My husband and daughter declared it the best apple cake ever:>)
I Love Apple Cake! It's one of those things that spell perfect Autumn for me.
I have an ancient recipe that takes whole apples, sans the peel and the core, of course.
I usually sprinkle it with sugar and cinnamon but I'll give your recipe a try. This weekend!
Thank you for sharing! Lovely post. I could almost scent it on this side of the Ocean.
Blessings,
T
Congrats to Sharon. Guess I'll have to bake this cake to celebrate. Have a great day bj.
I LOVE your cheery kitchen, Beeeej! That cake looks yummy, too! My Aunt and cousin are coming to visit. I might have to make that for dessert!
xoxo
I thought you two were on a diet. I would love a big, hot slice of that cake. Sounds so tasty. Nice kitchen, No wonder you enjoy staying in it so much.

Oh my, bj ... that cake looks so good. I love apple cake and have a good standby recipe but will try this one with the glaze. Apple cake is good for breakfast too.

Oh, girl. Does that look scrumptious or what?!!!
I wish I had a slice to have with my coffee right now.
That sounds so good! In your sauce, you call for syrup. Is that maple syrup?
Oh, my! You had me at pecan praline sauce! Yum! Thanks for posting. I know some folks around here who would love it!
I do like apple cake! I chop my apples finer because I keep the peels on. Your kitchen is so fun and cheerful. Must make you happy every day.
Yum, yum, YUM! The cake looks and sounds delicious! I will have to try this recipe sometime - thanks for sharing! And your kitchen is adorable!
Hugs,
Stephanie
if i had 'eat cake' in my kitchen, i'd weigh 400 lbs....
Good morning BJ,
I am having my morning coffee and now craving for your apple cake. Thanks for sharing the recipe.
I love apple cake. Thank you for sharing the recipe.
Thanks for sharing this recipe with us I just wish I could have sweets but I know I can not if I want to keep my blood sugar down. Have a blessed day. Madeline

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh - I am SO making this, WITH the Praline Sauce...for now, I shall just go down and grab a cup of coffee and be sad that I don't have the cake this morning! Happy Wednesday, BJ - Tanya
I'm all about apples right now! I have some apple muffins to eat but your cake looks wonderful! Happy Rednesday from your Rednesday neighbor!
Only one thing wrong with this picture...you didn't call me while it was baking so I could be there to join you! :) It sounds divine and I like the glaze idea too. Will definitely try this! Seems we have an apple "shortage" now so buy them before they're priced like gold...like gasoline. :/
Thanks for sharing! Have an awesome day ~

First of all I love the spooky header--so adorable. Anything with praline drizzle has to be delicious. The apple cake would be a treat around here. Happy Autumn dear girl.

Congrats to Sharon. Apple cake is a favorite. Now, that it is cooling off, it's time to bake. Your kitchen is cheerful. I see you have been playing with PicMonkey.
Grocery shopping is on my list tomorrow and I am going to grab some apples and pecans...you have sold me! Thanks to you and Kathy!
XO,
Jane
Congrats to Sharon!...and yum on the delish looking apple cake.
And I do love me some Earl(oink!oink!) & Lynn at Happier a Pig in Mud!..going over to check 'em out.
Congrats to Sharon! I adore an applesauce cake, but not an apple cake. Bet it made your house smell like heaven! It's so fun to read here when you're feeling giddy about the weather. Hope that you're enjoying that fire. I'd love one about now myself.
Ohmy, bj, that cake looks sooooo good and with that praline toppin glaze...over the moon!!
hmmmm...that cake looks soooo yummy! BTW, I love your kitchen, I think I've told you that before, several times! teehee...
Hi Bj!
Oh Yummy... meant for my tummy! That sure looks like a great autumn cake recipe and the drizzle would also go nicely with the french vanilla ice cream I plan to serve it with :]
xoxo Bunny Jean
I have always loved fresh apple cakes! This is a wonderful recipe! I haven't baked with the sugar substitutes! And I'll go visitin' now! Oh, and congrats to your lucky winner! How fun! Hugs!
I'm sure I would have passed out with delight just inhaling the heavenly scents in your kitchen!
Fresh Face
BJ,
I like the ideal of cutting back on the oil and using applesauce instead! Guess I'll be heading into the kitchen soon to make...an Apple cake! Thanks for sharing!!!
Fondly,
Pat
Oh, how I love a good apple cake and the wonderful aroma when it is baking. I need to bake one soon.
