An Autumn Apple Cake to write home about.....

Hi, Ya'll,
I just don't know when I have enjoyed AUTUMN so much. Maybe it's our weather...it's just out done itself, I think. It's a little windy today...blowing cooler air towards us and....I AM ALL READY FOR IT.
We have wood stacked beside our patio doors...just waiting to be carried inside to make a big roaring fire....

In the meantime, I am BAKING....trying to put good things to eat in our tummies and our freezer. :)
KATHY at KATHY'S COTTAGE posted a photo of the best looking
APPLE CAKE
and she got the recipe HERE.
and I couldn't wait to make one, too.
Kathy and I both added 1/2 cup of APPLESAUCE to replace 1/2 cup of oil,
making only 1/2 cup of oil for the whole cake.....and it is sooo moist.
...I mean, after all....I DO have words in my kitchen that tells me to
EAT CAKE....
Along with peppers and tomatoes, I bought 2 different kinds of APPLES at the market...
both tart as they are best to use in making PIES and CAKES, so the real cooks tell me.
I baked my cake in a bundt pan 'cause.....well.....I just love bundt cakes.
So pretty....slice so nicely....works perfectly.
I made a PECAN PRALINE sauce to drizzle over the cake and
Mr. Sweet and I agreed on one thing that was WRONG with it...
there wasn't ENUF....Oh, my...this is sooo good and the next time,
I will double my recipe.....FOR SURE !
PECAN PRALINE SAUCE/GLAZE
1/2 cup sugar (I used IDEAL SUGAR SUB)
1/4 cup buttermilk
1/2 teaspoon soda
1 tablespoon syrup
1/4 cup butter
cap full Vanilla
handful chopped pecans or pecan halves
*
Boil gently 10 minutes ...
pour over cake.
You just MIGHT want to double this....it's awfully gooood.
YES, MA'AM.....
if you like APPLES and you like CAKE,
you MUST try this one....
sooo good warm....ice cream and sliced fresh apples alongside....
O HONEY
Did you remember to make that appointment for your mammogram.?
I think mine is next week...OUCH...

XOXOXO
bj  ♥

I'm so glad you liked it BJ! I added extra apples too, it is an apple cake after all. Our family made caramel sauce for the top but next time I'm trying the praline sauce! My husband and daughter declared it the best apple cake ever:>)

I Love Apple Cake! It's one of those things that spell perfect Autumn for me.
I have an ancient recipe that takes whole apples, sans the peel and the core, of course.
I usually sprinkle it with sugar and cinnamon but I'll give your recipe a try. This weekend!
Thank you for sharing! Lovely post. I could almost scent it on this side of the Ocean.
Blessings,
T

Oh, girl. Does that look scrumptious or what?!!!

I wish I had a slice to have with my coffee right now.

That sounds so good! In your sauce, you call for syrup. Is that maple syrup?

Only one thing wrong with this picture...you didn't call me while it was baking so I could be there to join you! :) It sounds divine and I like the glaze idea too. Will definitely try this! Seems we have an apple "shortage" now so buy them before they're priced like gold...like gasoline. :/

Thanks for sharing! Have an awesome day ~

Congrats to Sharon! I adore an applesauce cake, but not an apple cake. Bet it made your house smell like heaven! It's so fun to read here when you're feeling giddy about the weather. Hope that you're enjoying that fire. I'd love one about now myself.

Hi Bj!

Oh Yummy... meant for my tummy! That sure looks like a great autumn cake recipe and the drizzle would also go nicely with the french vanilla ice cream I plan to serve it with :]
