G'morning, ya'll...
Hope you are all doing good, staying cool, getting rain, staying dry,
whichever is spot on with you and where you are.
Most of all...stay safe....and happy....and healthy.
I think I have mentioned this has been the summer for projects around my place.
I just got THE CHANDY project finished and now.....
THIS is a project I am working on, as we speak (waiting for paint to dry)...
and I am going to be SOOO in love with it.
♥
...a few more BITS
I just flat LOOOVE
SEMI HOMEMADE.....
I have tried and tried and TRIED to find a butter sub that I like
but ............I hate their guts.
When I get ready for butter or even margarine,
I WANT THE REAL THING !
HOWEVER....I felt the same way about sugar subs.....
and then, the Heavens opened, a beam of light shown on a big package of
IDEAL SUGAR SUBSTITUTE ...
maybe a no calorie butter is just right around the next cloud.
♥
...and a few more BOBS....
♥
...and a few more BOBS....
Have I ever shown you my
French Blue Antique
Secretary ?
O, surely I have.
Mr. Sweet bought this for me over 40 years ago....
and it's been this same color ever since.
I sooooo need to paint it and I'm scared......
I just keep trying to CLEAN it and hope it looks better....
A friend of ours that owned an antiques store had this secretary and the day I went into the shop, he had just finished painting it.
I am SUCH a lover of painted furniture and I fell KNEE DEEP in love, right then and there.
I told Mr. Sweet about it, he went down the next day and purchased it and I nearly wet all over myself when they delivered it to our home.
I had THIS before I had my little girl, Stacy. :))
It has the best little cubbies and a drawer to hold all my little
keepsakes and treasures.
This is a sweet little book my daughter gave me and it sets on the desk of the secretary....
Also on the desk is this little journal on the left, that daughter gave to her
grandmother, my mom.
She wrote in it for Mom every year until my mother died in 1988.
bwaaaaaaaa......
It's a sweet spot, in my dining room, to have a cup of coffee,
glance thru my cards given to us over the years from children and grands....
I address my Christmas cards here every year...
and sometimes.....
I just sit and stare out that big window and do
ABSOLUTELY NOTHING !
Sometimes, ABSOLUTELY NOTHING is good for the soul. ♥
Can you believe that THIS is the last day of AUGUST....?
Me, either !!

bj I do tooo...love me some
semi-homemade,love cooking with bisquick an adding these ingredients sure will kick it up a notch.
Love the color of your special little place to create and enjoy starting off the day with wonderful thoughts and great memories.
Bits and Bobs. My favorite kind of post, and my favorite kind of day. And, all of your bits and bobs are wonderful.
What a beautiful secretary! I love that it's filled with so many little treasures & keepsakes. Make it all the more special.
Oh that secretary is precious. I don't remember seeing it, either. So even if you have shown it, I'm glad you did again.
Yes, a safe and happy Holiday Wish, to all!
"Auntie"
Oh my goodness, I love it! I wouldn't paint it or do anything to it but enjoy it! Sweet memories and keepsakes right there in that beauty!
Have a blessed day dear BJ, HUGS!
BJ, your secretary is so pretty. I've always liked those pieces of furniture. My nightstand is full of cards and pictures. I go through them periodically and there are always tears shed. Time flies so quickly.
I have been working on black and white pictures also. Love em!
Your 'site' is really cute. So glad I found it. Then when I read your note that you would give me 'chocolate' if I joined, then I couldn't resist. As you can see, even virtual chocolate gets to me.
oh, my. the journal from your daughter to your mother...
Thanks for everything you share! It's always sweet! REAL sweet! ;) .... :)
Where did August go??? Love Love Love your secretary! One of the things on my wish list for years! Someday I'll find the perfect one. I'm all about easy in cooking and semi-homemade is perfect. Hoping you have a great weekend. hugs, Linda
Well now, I love Clint Eastwood, too. =D
And I love your secretary and can see why it would be most useful for writing up the bills and keeping everything tidy and for storing memories and sweet homemade books for grandmothers.
What color are you thinking of painting it? Is it showing need of painting because it looks really good to me.
Oops...lost my comment.
I said I thought your little secretary was sweet and beautiful..but I KNOW how it feels when you suddenly think something needs change. It will be fun to see how it looks IF you do decide to paint it. I know it will look adorable! I've always wanted one of those!
Mona
p.s. I understand exactly how you feel. I LOVE Barbara Streisand the same way. :):)
I have always loved Clint Eastwood!!
A wonderful post. I hope your holiday weekend is a great one.
I like that secretary! It's gorgeous! And I can't wait to see your finished project! The pictures are cute.
The end of August and the beginning of Fall. It is ok with me. I love your painted secretary with all it's cubbies and beauty. Don't repaint it. I love the way it looks right now. Mr. Sweet is a keeper but you already know that.
Happy Labor Day weekend.
Love you much,
Jeanne

What a lovely secretary, dear friend! I adore that it is filled with treasures of your heart. The best treasure is that "Mr. Sweet" KNEW it had to be yours!

Love, love, love that secretary!! Mr. Sweet did very well buying that for you.
Mr. Sweet is just the sweetest! Adore your secretary; it's beautiful! Thank you for sharing this bit of "sweet nothings" at Potpourri Friday!
Hello, I look to see what pretties you are posting every day. I do so love your blog, but I'm not one to comment very often. When mixing up your pancakes stir in a squirt of lemon juice into the batter and you will see how it improves the taste of the pancakes. How I wish I had a journal from any of my olden relatives! I'm like you B.J., no matter how olden I have become I still miss my parents.
