~ SEPTEMBER ~

It's SEPTEMBER....
WOW....
the summer just FLEW by.

Here on the plains of West Texas, hot weather will continue for awhile longer.
The mornings are cooler....
the evenings are cooler....
but  our days will be summer-like for another month, at least.
♥
I bought my 2012 calendar from SUSAN BRANCH
and I have enjoyed every single month of it.
I love all the beautiful script she uses...
her sweet pictures she draws...
it all makes for MORE than a calendar....
there's RECIPES,
like.......
 IOWA  CORNBREAD
with BEE BUTTER.
You better believe I am going to make this....
just take a look at the amazing ingredients....
"Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
In small bowl, whisk eggs well, stir in milk and zest.
Sift together dry ingredients and mix well.
Stir in milk mixture and butter and pour into buttered 8" square pan.
Bake 20 to 25 minutes, until a knife comes out clean."
♥ ♥ ♥
THEN....
...get busy and make
BEE BUTTER....
 ♥ ♥ ♥
and THEN,
....believe me when I say we are HAVING THIS TONIGHT...
it sounds so good.
I've always cooked my cornbread in a CAST IRON SKILLET
but maybe  IOWA  knows something I don't know....and I sure am willing to learn.
♥ ♥ ♥

There's so many cute, old fashioned
sayings scattered throughout the month....

and as I've said, her whimsical and adorable drawings are just priceless.

When you get ready for a new 2013 calendar, I highly recommend the SUSAN BRANCH calendar.
I just know you will love it.

No, I am not selling calendars .......:>)

I am just so happy with MINE that I wanted to tell YOU about it so you could BE HAPPY, TOO.

I've wanted to show my calendar to you ever since I got it but just didn't get a post on it done until now.

It looks amazing, hanging on the wall...
colors so bright and pretty.
I have this wooden calendar holder that makes it even cuter.

I also bought a calendar for Stacy, my girl, and she loves hers, too.
Love and hugs and kisses, bj

Apparently the good Lord knows us Texans can handle anything, so he wants to us to have a little more warm weather. As you said, the mornings are so nice. Your calendar is very neat. I just use whatever free one I get.

This is funny because I took a sneak peek at mine today, too, and made my own cornbread recipe adding a splash of orange juice...didn't have an orange for the zest. Oh boy howdy...we loved it.

Really cute calendar. Need to try that cornbread. Mine usually comes out of the Jiffy Cornbread Mix box and we like it very much. I bake in an iron skillet too.

Hi BJ, We are getting much needed rain from Issacs. We didn't get the wind that was with it earlier. Your cornbread sounds yummy. I have had it fixed in an iron skillet and an square pan. Both ways it is good. I loved your calendar. The colors are so pretty. Have a wonderful weekend.Take care your Missouri Friend.

I ADORE Susan Branch! In our former house, I tore up a bunch of her books (yep, truly) and matted and framed a zillion recipes out of them to hang in the kitchen. It worked great with my Mary Englebreit cherry wallpaper (boy that dates me!)

Hi BJ, I love your calendar. I'll have to see if they have a desktop type calendar. The cornbread sounds so different with the orange zest and spices. Let us know how it turns out. I hope you still bake it in your cast iron skillet, though!! xo

I need to do a search for this calendar.. it's really different! I'm in OKC and it is indeed hot.. I live in SoFla and it's humid and sticky, I prefer the heat of OKC and Texas (I lived in San Antonio for a time)... Thanks so much for your sweet comments and your visit!
Now to find that calendar.

Cute calendar. Will you really use the square pan? It'll be somewhat different cuz iron cooks it so thoroughly ya know! You need a square iron pan?

Love the sentiments in the last page you showed of the calendar.

I'm just visiting pinks today - didn't post a pink.

Happy Pink Saturday!
