His name is MR. SWEET

...and he comes BEARING GIFTS
"I picked you up a little something that I thought you might get a kick out of...."
MIGHT get a kick out of...???
MIGHT ?????
I am totally in love with my NEW, metal, RED
POTTING BENCH.
It's a utility cart of some kind but when Mr. Sweet first saw it,
it became
A  POTTING BENCH for SWEET NOTHINGS.

(now I can pot plants but still can't figure out why, sometimes, my
FONT is sooo tiny. OUIT messin' with me, Blogger )
I have this vintage SHABBY mirror shelf....
I was  hoping it would look amazing above the bench.
I gave  it a try and decided if it didn't blow my skirt up,
I'll look for something else.....
but look....my little GARDEN ANGEL sure looks cute, standing there
all sassy like.
I DO ...!!.......
I DO  LIKE IT.
I think it looks pretty cool there until I have been working hard and
look up and see ME.
I nearly scream and think about taking it down and just adding shelves...
or a cool OLDEN door, if I happen to find one in the dumpster...
or a piece of lattice...
so many ways to go.

In the meantime, I'll just wear sunglasses and that way, the mirror will be darker when I look at it and maybe I won't look so bad.
SOOO.....
THAT means all of YOU will have to wear sunglasses, too, so that I will look more like a ....oh, I don't know...
a GARDEN MODEL, maybe .....nawh, afraid all the dark glasses in the world won't change my appearance.

But, what fun I am having out there.
The old sun surely is H.O.T.
and really BRIGHT...
these photos look a little washed out.
Doesn't it look FINE, all tucked in the bushes and flowers and bird bath....

now..........don't be lookin' at that utility box or whatever it is on the back of the house...

I am TRYING to show you my sassy new hair cut that I love to the moon and back.....
one of those cuts that ya wash, dry, put a little gel to separate the hair...
...it was so easy at the lake and in the mountains.....
and I just LOVE  EASY.
I gotta tell you that THIS is MY HAPPY PLACE.
I am having so much fun playing around with it.
I just bought some large cup hooks to go on that olden but awesome mirror
to hang darling little forks and clippers and a tiny little hand shovel spade.
Even in the 106 temp, I just stood out there, playing and sweating to beat the band.
(O, I forgot...us Southern ladies
DO NOT SWEAT...
we BLUSH )
I am enjoying the outside more this summer than last...not sure why but last summer, I had no desire to be outside in the heat.
It's not bothering me this year nearly as much, tho.

Last night, Mr. Sweet came outside and said,
"What'cha doing?"

"Takin' pictures."

"Awww, come on back inside. It's gettin' too dark for pictures."

"OK"
In about 15 minutes, he came back outside and said,
"What'cha doin, NOW?"
♥ ♥ ♥
"Takin'  pictures."

...don't forget to send me photos of YOUR potting place..
I'm not NEAR through with POTTING BENCHES/SPACES just yet. ;0)

Love the potting bench( and how you"spruced" it up. It will make planting so much easier to have everything at your fingertips. We are "blushing" a lot here in Kansas too. Rain and cooler weather--what a treat that would be!!! Mickie :)

Oh my bj ... I just love your little red potting bench. What a great man Mr. Sweet is to get that for you. Your spot is just adorable. I love bird baths too. I have several scattered about the yard and two wash tubs for the deer.
Enjoy your summer.

That is such a cute idea for a potting bench. I love it and I like sassy hair too and need to get mine cut.

Vee said...

I would send you one if I had one. What I really like about the mirror is that no one can spring up on you without your seeing them coming, right? Working with one's back to oncoming traffic can be a bit unnerving.

Mr. Sweet did a wonderful job. I really like that he could see a potting bench.

Oh, I LOVE it! He is definitely Mr. Sweet for finding it for you. He obviously knows you well. It's just perfect and practically calls your name. I laughed right out loud about the sunglasses. Then, I laughed again about "taking pictures".

I love your sassy personality.
And the sassy hair should be the perfect match to it.

I'm so happy you have your potting bench--your wishes have come true. How sweet to have given it by surprise by Mr. Sweet. The heat is so horrible-we haven't been able to stay outside at all, just long enough to give our tomatoes a quick drink. I LOVE the mirror over it and the darling angel.

Hi bj, it was so "sweet" to see your comment. I have missed you girl. I know, I have been among the missing for a good bit of this summer. I'm home to stay until football season.

I LOVE your potting bench from Mr. Sweet. What a guy. I have just the place to put it too. I also have some of those gardening boots to put in a photo. Sigh, I want a potting bench. I'm looking seriously now that I see yours. Smile. I love the very cute things you put on the top etc along with the mirror. Yep, you really have a knack for decorating even a potting bench. I mean it!!!

My hair is short and perky too.All I do is wash and blow dry. Causal and so Easy.

It's grandkids week so we are having a blast. Six of them from 13 to 17. Such darlings. They love each other and have so much fun and they never fight. Tomorrow they are going tubing. They play hard for a solid week. Three of our children are here too.

Time for bed. Goodnight my dear sister friend.
Love, Jeanne

You have such a nice decorations around that lovely garden, I'm so jealous! I stay in a highrise building, and don't have any garden, not even potted plants along the corridor like most neighbours here.

Hi Bj, I really like your potting shelf. You would really be watering to keep it looking that pretty. Triple digits again today and I don't like the heat that well. I like your short hair do, right now with the heat you want something simple and easy to take care of. Have a wonderful day and I do love seeing your flowers. Hugs from Your Missouri Friend..

A chimney with a rosy hearth, and lilacs by the door;
With windows looking East and West, And a crooked apple tree,

Hahahahaha!!! Love your description of hanging up your mirror! I would do the exact same thing. I think you should leave it there and not worry about what you look like in it but use it to look behind you while potting plants or watch a newly potted plant from every angle in it when you are done with your work. :)

Beautiful little potting bench you've got there! It all looks like a fantastic place to work.

Take care!

BJ, I love this potting table, so pretty, looks inviting to work in the garden. Mr. Sweet sounds like a
wonderful hubby, tell him we admire all his projects, like white shelf he made! I especially enjoy your upbeat, friendly blog. I would like to see your new haircut, with details on how to do it, what do you put on it? Keep up the great blog, look forward to it each day. From a middle Georgia fan

What a riot....they may think we are cooookie, but they still love us, don't them? Just thought we'd tell you that that is the sweetest thing, it would be our happy place as well! Love the red, the metal....the mirror ~ BJ you've got it going on there! The best part is that it looks as if it has always been there :) Have fun taking pictures...lol!!

Very cool idea - You've made a wonderfully unique gardening space!

Ralph said...

It has to be love - Mr Sweet IS sweet :)

A potting bench - it is useful and you can tend tour flowers much easier by moving it all about. As you are having a cooler (than last year) summer, you can keep up with your gardening. And with the neat watering can, you can cool off by pouring a bit of water on yourself...Love your yard!

Sandy said...

What a lovely potting bench, really!
I love it. Now I have one that I built with left over wood when we replaced our deck, it's working for me but looks nothing like your beauty!

I'll send on a photo..lol
