~ At the Park ~

The neighborhood park about 4 block from our home.
We LUV this little park with the playground, walking/running track,
little lake full of fish....when there's enuf water.
Lots of pretty, large trees, full of shadows....
just perfect for my entry in SHADOW SHOT SUNDAY 2.

Mr. Sweet and I love walking every day on the MILE TRACK....

We even walked today in a HIGH, HOT, DRY
wind and, even tho we both had to stop more often, it was good to be outside.

I have PAD and the circulation in my legs is .....
well.....not what it used to be. Sooo, I do have to stop every 1/4 mile and let the blood catch back up to my poor ole legs.

About a minute, tho, and I am
good to go.
Little benches are at most of the 1/4 mile markers...
this is at the first one and I smile and feel all fuzzy inside when I am reminded how much
HE  LOVES  US  by this sweet little message left be another brother or sister.
This Cyprus tree's roots are GENERALLY underwater and the tree thrives.
Since the year long drought, the little park LAKE is so low, I swear you could walk across it.
All the trees are suffering....
here in our town, we are rationed of using water to only one time a week for our lawns.

The City of Lubbock is doing the same by only watering the parks one time a week.
I appreciate  that.
No....the parks aren't quite as pretty as when they were being watered every morning....
but we must get our priorities straight.

Still enuf water for the ducks....

We  take olden bread to feed them, which has always been fun.

When our kids and then the grands were little,
we went almost every day in the summer to feed them.

There's two little wooden foot bridges in the park.....

the puddle you see here was from a nice little rain a few days ago.....

there's a few low places on the trail that stand in water when it rains and everyone just loves to see those puddles. :)
I know this isn't much of a BRIDGE but I hope it will allow me to
play with SUNDAY BRIDGES.
It's such a fun linky party. If YOU have some photos of BRIDGES,
you might like this weekly party.

Well, what'da ya know...

A self  PORTRAIT  SHADOW...  :>)

Always a few fishermen that catch a few fish, every now and then.
...just like my DEEDS

I know this is a STRETCH for a bridge but, remember, I live in West Texas.....:))

sure wish you'd get better rains there, but now that we're into the beginning of summer, i doubt you will. we had a very dry may, here in NE Tx, but we were lucky to get good rains before then to refill the pond. i'll never take that for granted again...

The water has come up further on the banks from last year - we hope and pray for measurable main on west Texas tis year...Ducks are most happy with just enough water, and these can frolic in shallow water! Given the minimum depth, it s great that DEEDS captured this fish...keep walking, you are making excellent progress!

You are lucky to have a pretty park close by so you can walk. I get my walking in everyday in front of my house. Now that it is warm and the pool water is getting warmer I will get my swimming in also. Have a blessed evening and a wonderful Memorial Day weekend. Madeline

Delightful shadows round this scenic park! Those tree roots are so grand! I guess if the water level was higher, as it should be, no one would know this beauty!

BJ, we have that West Texas wind here...all last week and still blowing. When I lived in Amarillo it drove me wild...still does! :/

Your park is lovely. So very sad to see the drought conditions continue. Most of the lakes around here were "full" after all the rain we had, now they're reporting lakes as being under now.

Hope you're having a great holiday weekend!

BJ, we used to have a park with similar feel close to us when we lived in Ft. Worth. Since moving to the Mid-Cities area we haven't found anything like it. I'm so glad you have one. On another note, we own a house duck. I know, pretty strange. She is so sweet, personable, loves to be held. I got her two weeks before my beloved Corgi of 14 years died. I had no idea that this tiny puff ball was going to be my new "dog". She wears a halter around the house after her morning bath that holds a diaper. And when she is laying she will provide us with an egg every morning. They are milder than chicken's eggs. I am giving you this background to let you know that you should never, ever feed bread to ducks. You can kill them with it. I know it is a time honored tradition, but it is wrong. The soft bread can cause them stomach bloat where they can't pass anything and they can't eat anything. If you want to feed the ducks take your vegetable scraps to them. These can be the leaves you pull off that head of lettuce before you get to the good leaves, or a peeling. here is a list of toxic foods to stay away from..........
Bread
Onions
Avocados
Chocolate
Nuts
Citrus
Popcorn
Potatoes
One scrap that our duck goes crazy over is the green tops of strawberries. Just make sure whatever you toss is in little pieces, and have fun feeding the ducks!

Your park looks like the perfect place to have an afternoon picnic and nap! We have a lot of heat going on here, too, except it's humid. Just walking to the bathroom makes me sweat! Thankfully it's just a heat wave and not our norm.

The little bridge is cute! :)

Jane
