Well, Hail

We had such a nice birthday get-together for our daughter, STACY LEIGH today, 4/29/12.
We went to Rosa's Mexican Food to eat...
She and her youngest son, BROOKS...
.....her two beautiful daughters
 and nieces....busy with their phone...:))
...her brother and sis in law,  DAVID and KATHY
...her Dad and sweetie, JENT.
Then it was back to our house for cake, ice cream and presents...
(yep, Mr. Sweet and I had a small slice....)

She had been wanting the pretty green, ceramic garden stool for ev er....

As soon as it went on sale at Ballards, I ordered it...
She loves it.
I love her.

Beautiful time on a cloudy birthday and then....

ALL  "HAIL"  BROKE  LOOSE....
Winds measured at 95 miles per hour,
SOFTball size HAIL...
Right over her house...
They went to their basement and
could hear glass breaking, smell rain and soon, the basement became cold.
They were safe...hunkered down in their basement with a futon cover over them.
She called and told us everything that was going on...(Thank God for cell phones)
We were all afraid her house, or at least, parts of her house, would be gone.
A tornado had been sighted...but thankfully, didn't touch down.

After the sounds stopped, she crept back upstairs...
Her house was still there....
They live about 12 miles from us in the little town of Wolfforth.

All the windows were broken on the front of her home.
This one is a huge window with the arched window above....blown out.
Living room full of water and glass.
She said it looked to her like the damage was done by the hurricane speed  winds
and the soft ball sized hail.

Plywood was put on all the exploded windows ...

the insurance adjuster will be coming tomorrow or the next day.
Mr. Sweet and Jent measured the windows, cut the plywood and
Mr. Sweet held the ladder securely at the bottom while Jent climbed that HIGH ladder.

 Poor Jent,
ONE MORE WINDOW but, boy, it sure is high up there.
 GOT  IT !

Jent  had just left town for a week's business trip so Stacy was alone
with her two daughters and wondering if her son was safe at Cracker Barrel where he works...
but, he was.
Jent turned around and drove all night to get back home.

This will be a birthday she won't soon forget.

(I ALways have to play around in  PhotoScape...so fun)
 O....the cake ?
I baked an Angel Food, tinted it with light pink,
split the cake thru the middle,
scooped out a little cake TRENCH and filled with REAL whipped cream and diced strawberries...
put the top back on,
covered the entire cake with REAL whipped cream and more strawberries.
O HONEY

  2. What an awful lot of damage. I hope that everything can be fixed and replaced. That sounds so scary!

Stay safe out there and may these storms dissipate as quickly as they get going.

  5. Oh BJ Sweetie...
Yes what a birthday for your sweet daughter to remember. WOW...This storm did some major damage to their beautiful home, but they are all okay so that is what is important. Like you said the adjustor will come and they can replace those windows.

Jent sure was high up there on that ladder. Yikes. Thank goodness he could come back to the rescue.

I do not miss those Oklahoma storms we had. I love living in the desert. We just get dust storms here, and occasionally a few rain drops if we are lucky.

Your cake looks so yummy. Thanks for sharing it with me. I love angel food cake.

Have a good safe rest of the evening. Many hugs and much love, Sherry

The weather has just been so weird this year all the way around. You aren't all that far from her and it apparently didn't touch you at all?

Your cake, as everything you make, looks scrumptious, Bj. I hope you took a bite for me! xo Diana
