ODE TO FAVORITE CUPS...

I never intended to collect CUPS....
I've always liked my cups all the same color....pattern.....size.
Then, before I knew it....
I had a cup collection going on.
And, every single one of them.......DIFFERENT
...this little lady just SPOKE to me...
out loud...
where everyone could hear her.
SHE said,
"I know a lot of secrets on you so you better
take me home with you this very minute....."
and I DID....
besides her cute face.....she has POLKA DOTS.

♫♪♪ I feel the JOY JOY JOY JOY.....down in my heart.
Down in my heart to stay...♪♫♪♪
THIS is one of those kind of cups that make drinking from it a  PURE JOY ...
the minute I start pouring coffee or tea into it, I start smiling...
great way to start a day.
♥♥♥

The next little cup that tried to BLACKMAIL me was this adorable
GRANDMOTHER CUP.......

SHE also spoke, saying words like, "Your hair will look JUST LIKE MINE in the morning if you don't take me along with you !"

Sooo, what's a girl to do that doesn't want her hair looking like a
 semi version of MEDUSA  ?

Why, she takes that sassy little cup right home with her... !!!
MOST TEA CUPS are small, dainty, thin,
very feminine  .... and while I LOVE a beautiful teacup,
THIS cup and saucer is  used quite often for TEA.
but......
I love this big ole TEXAS SIZE tea cup so much, I wanna marry it.
It's not a teacup....no siree.....
IT'S A TEA MUG ....
and I don't think the word TEA is printed the same way twice on it.
Awesome mug !
And, then, ALL IN ONE DAY, I found an adorable
 COFFEE MUG kitchen rug....
SLEEP SHIRT with coffee mugs on it..."EXPRESSO YOURSELF"....gotta love it
and four cute and colorful mugs.

Needless to say.....I think I DREAMED of COFFEE
all night long. Pretty sure that's why I had to get up and go to the
bathroom about 16 times during that night.....

I have more cute cups which I'll hang on to for another post.......another day.

After much, MUCH research, I have discovered, to my amazement, that
CHERRY PECAN CRISP
tastes GOOOOOD
WITH COFFEE, served in ANY kind of cup whatsoever...!! ♥ ♥ ♥
  • 1 (21 ounce) can cherry pie filling ..****.NOTE
  • ( I use ONLY tart cherries, cooked in a little sugar, adding a tiny bit of flour for thickening.and a tiny bit of VANILLA.....
  • ...I DON'T CARE for the CHERRY PIE FILLING....♥♥♥
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup rolled oats
  • 2/3 cup brown sugar
  • 3/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 3/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 cup chopped pecans ♥♥♥
  • 1/3 cup melted margarine
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C.) Lightly grease a 2 quart baking dish. Pour pie filling into the dish, and spread evenly.
  2. In a medium bowl, mix together flour, oats, sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Mix in melted margarine. Spread over pie filling, and sprinkle with chopped pecans.
  3. Bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes, or until topping is golden brown. Allow to cool 15 minutes before serving.
  4. IT'S GOOD, BABY

I love that first mug... "you know too much"!! Soooo true of good friends. I had so many different mugs before we downsized to our condo and gave most away or donated them. I miss every one of them! How pitiful is that? Love that hindsight, it's really excellent.
All of yours are delightful BJ!

Hey that Debbie Doodle has some good ideas doesn't she??

Big hugs, Sherry

BJ, the mugs are too too cute and we love crisps but I have never made a cherry one before. Next time I might try this one but Joe is on a diet-Dear Lord it is depressing how rapidly he looses weight. Thanks for your so sweet comment about the shell:-0 olive

Cute cups and that cherry stuff looks divine.

It's funny- I had so many mismatched cups that I had picked up over the years. I loved them all but, deciding to pare down, I donated most of them to a thrift shop. I kept 2 that have sentimental attachments though. Isn't it funny how some things just seem to attach themselves to us?

That cherry crumble recipe sounds wonderful! xo Diana ps...I can't stand those canned cherries either although everyone else in my family seems to like them. xo Diana

Hi BJ!

Really cute cups. Do you get special memories when drinking out of different cups? I do when I use the cups my family members have given me.

I have a favorite cup that I drink my tea out of. It is the perfect size, shape, holds just the right amount...and if it ever breaks...I am in trouble!
You have some great cups there...and for Connie's sake...I do NOT mean bra!!

I love all your cups and mugs too!! I think the kind of cup we collect says something about us. And I agree.....I can practically HEAR one begging me to take her home with me!

Here at Amber's the matching set of coffee mugs live on a tall top shelf since neither she or Mike drink coffee. LD has to get them down for me or I have to use a step ladder! We bought two smaller black and white ones just because. They live next door to the big bossy looking matching mugs! I simply have not cottoned up to them. They look rude and harsh. I need my morning cuo of coffee to be a little more friendly and welcoming!

Good morning bj, I have been down with a bad cold but I am bouncing back. I am glad I am too.

Your mugs are all too cute, I too love to drink my coffee from a favorite mug. Right now it is a Valentine mug. It just makes my morning coffee special. I do love your most recent polka dot secret mug. One can not take a chance when one knows things about you. HA!

I checked out your last three posts and added a couple of recipes to mine. My cousin Marilyn is here and we are making our grandmother's Raisin Brand cereal muffins. I am using my darling muffin papers. She is in love with them. Since I have had this darn old cold I haven't done much of anything. I will share the recipe on a post.
Have happy days and now I am going to make coffee. Are you having your coffee yet?

Love you much,
Jeanne

Great mugs bj! I like cups too, but I have my favorite one for my morning coffee. Not a tea drinker, but I like tea cups too. Although, I don't "collect" them I seem to have quite a few. More then needed I'm sure! Your dessert looks delish!

Linda (More Fun Less Laundry) said...

Hi bj! I am very fussy about my cups--I like a thin edge for tea, something hefty for hot chocolate, and something interesting like yours for coffee. They do seem to multiply when I'm not looking and one of these days I will go through them, but how to decide which ones will go???
For that number problem, try going to your dashboard and see if you accidentally clicked the numbering icon which is right next to the icon for changing the indentation of your paragraphs. Only saying because I did that the other day and was very upset until I solved my problem. Have a great day with all your mugs! Put something yummy in them! Linda

I love mugs too and I also collect them and did not plan on it. Love the one that has tea written all over it.

your cherry pecan crisp looks wonderful. i also don't like cherry pie filling. i grew up with a sour cherry tree in the back yard that my mother would make wonderful cherry pies from. i was making pies myself long before i left grade school. i would love to go out and pick the cherries right from the tree and come in and pit them while they were still warm from the sun and make a pie. i collect OLD cookbooks and they don't have you pit the cherries. somehow i just don't think i would enjoy my pie very much if i was having to spit out the pits. lol. i do not collect mugs, but i inherited my husband's grandmother's teacup collection. when friends come over for tea they love to pick out the teacup that most appeals to them that day, though some have a favorite that they pick every time.

Cold and raining here (Texas) with some sleet. Wind chill was 26° this morning.
