GINGERBREAD MAN WREATH...
doesn't that sound delightful !!
I just LOVE little gingerbread men and boys...
every time I look at one, it warms my heart...just like most things that
take us back to our childhood does.
SOOO, I wanted to make a
GINGERBREAD MAN WREATH....
It is a pretty well known FACT that I am NOT crafty.....not one bit.
but every now and then, I THINK I am and have to try something simple.....
THIS one looked fairly simple so........
Here is one that MARTHA STEWART did....
Well, believe me, I ain't no MARTHA...
Isn't hers just adorable....her little boys are smaller than mine.
AND.....
her little boys are REAL Gingerbread cookies......
This adorable one belongs to BEANSIE BABBLES
It is sooo cute !! She did an awesome job on it....love that pretty bow.
AND....her's is a "last a little longer" wreath......
♥RECIPE below

Here is another one that turned out really nice and this is where you can GET THE RECIPE if you want a wreath that will last a few years.
It's over at Saving 4 Six
and it turned out sooo cute, too.
Looks like she added lots of "SUGAR" to her little men and they absolutely
look GOOD ENUF TO EAT, don't they.?
BUT....don't try it...
they are hard as rocks.
These would be really cute on a wreath, too

AND ......here is a little pattern of a little boy that you can make out of fabric......
felt....burlap....linen.....cute vintage buttons....lace...adorable ribbons...so many possibilities. These would be really cute on a wreath, too
and I am hoping mine will last a couple of years or so...
♥ ♥ ♥
...so I used the flour, salt and water method.
.......just out of the oven hereand they all look
ANEMIC....
colorless....
too little cinnamon ???
Cinnamon is added for the COLOR and also....they smell
WONDERFUL.
I wiped all the flour off before baking....?
Ahhhhh, but I have a PLAN.
They need to be covered with a polyurethane and sprinkled with KOSHER SALT, (looks just like sugar....) so, I'll use my
Poly and Stain, all in one.
While they are wet, I will sprinkle the SALT on so that they will look all SUGAR COATED and delicious...and pretty.
oops....nearly forgot to show you up close how good the color of the poly stain made the little boys.....♥
THIS is where the fun STOPPED !
.....SEE that break...there by the STAR ?....bummer.
So out came the HOT GLUE GUN again.
Every single time I picked the little boys up, they broke somewhere...
I must have used 10 sticks of glue......
ahhh.....but don't they look cute.....
from a distance !!!!
but...UP CLOSE AND PERSONAL,
they look pretty

PURE HOT GLUE....
oh well...
most of the time, if a person doesn't KNOW there's something wrong on something like a wreath, they never notice....
and besides,
no one is going to care.......but me. :(
I love my plaid ribbon more than the little boys....:)

.....those little guys on the left....their hands aren't even touching....
they both are holding a ball of HOT GLUE.....hahhhaaaa.....gotta love it...
I have to say that this was worth all the hot glue used....
I just break out in a smile every time I walk into my dining room and
see the little RING OF BOYS on my fireplace .......
besides, there's not much more that gets you in the mood for CHRISTMAS than making
handmade crafts. ♥♥
If you decide to make one, I hope you have a little better luck
than I did when you start running ribbon thru.
I am not sure what I did wrong....may have cooked it too long.....
but I'm PRETTY sure it will be awhile, IF EVER, before making another.
(unless some of the grandgirls want to give it a try.....♥

What a cute wreath! Very nice job :)
Move over Martha, there's a new kid in town! I love it Bj, it is so stinkin cute!
I think its adorable and I admire your persistence.
I wanna try one now..
That is adorable. I love it and you did a great job. The plaid ribbon really knocked it out of the water. Hugs, Deb
I hate how sites always make these things look so easy and then you go to do it and you have to wonder. Thanks for the real version! Yours still looked lovely in the end. I have to be honest, I wouldn't have made it that far! Happy Holidays!
BJ,
Too cute!!! I'm filing this for a resource for next year when the Gingerbreads, once again, will invade the kitchen!
Fondly,
Pat
bj, you are so good about trying things and I think it turned out dang cute! ;D
bj, your wreath is everybit as good as the others. Don't know why you insist you aren't crafty, because you ARE. I've seen a lot of stuff you've done and it's all GREAT. Anyway, I love love the wreath!
Yours is adorable...and I LOVE the plaid ribbon!! Isn't it funny how things turn out when they look so simple? One of my NY resolutions is to stop making the gazillion things I see on blogs - I am out of control!!
Happy Holidays dear friend!
Darling!! You did good, BJ! I'm glad you kept plugging along and did this post because I have never seen a gingerbread wreath! I have made gingerbread and I know it is a tough dough to work with, I hope the version you used was better. Sorry they were falling apart...maybe the hot glue will help you get a few years out of it.
Happy Holidays!
I think you wreath is better than Martha. I love your plaid ribbon.
I've never seen one of those wreaths before. I think they're adorable. You are a brave one for trying it. It looks like it would be fragile. Yours turned out beautifully! I love your bow too. I agree that crafting at Christmas time brings out the kid in you. I'm glad that you had success with your project.
Your wreath is so cute! I really want to try this too, but better save it for next year's projects. Thanks for sharing!
I'm not even going to attempt it! But you know, lots of times when I'm just trying to fix a mistake, it turns out better than the original plan.
Brenda
You did great, Beeeeej! Cute as pie!!!

How cute and I love the ribbon, too.
Thanks for keeping it real! We need that sometimes to remember that it doesn't have to be perfect to be cute. I think it turned out great! And I love the ribbon too!

Well that is the cutest little wreath bj. You did a good job on it! I love to craft, have crafted for years.
Thank you for praying for me.You are such a sweetheart, did you know that .
Your gingerbread wreath turned out very cute, BJ. Merry Christmas to you and your loverd ones...Christine
That is adorable BJ! I will save this post and try one of these next year. From this point on, for this Christmas, anything that gets baked gets eaten!
Very cute. I have made these before for the day care children in my care to make for their take home 'treat' at the Christmas party. I make tiny hole in the head to hang from a tree.
You could get the small tubes of puff paint and add some black dots for buttons and white 'frosting' at the arm and legs bands.
I believe anything that is hand made is wonderful. Yours is just as good as Martha's. Besides, I bet if the truth is known that it took Martha's team of skilled crafters several hours to make 'her' gingerbread man wreath.
Oh my goodness I am so impressed. This is darling.
Merry Christmas! Kristine
How beautiful! Merry Christmas!
That wreathe is so pretty and it must smell heavenly! Merry Christmas!

Just precious!!! You are soon to be Graduating into the Rarified Realms of True Crafty-hood, my Dear!!!
Annnnnnnnnnnnnnnnd........ I am soooo happy with your Font and it's size. Just had to tell you!!!! I have *olden* eyes and I need big-enough-and-clear-enough to read. And this is super-duuuuuuupler.
I may just use the same Font and Size on my blog.
'Cause the main point is for our blogs to be easy-to-read! I'm sure you agree. Thank you for the prompt!

Cute wreath you did a good job. Have a blessed day. Madeline
bj your wreath turned out cute. i have to ask, did you use the gingerbread men recipe that you had up recently? my granddaghter and i made that recipe for our anual gingerbread men baking and decorating with grandmama. it is the BEST recipe i have ever found. rowen and i even kept snitching the dough. well why i ask is it made a very dark little gingerbread man. anyway thank you so much for the recipe. rowen and i agree we will never use another. you are such a dear frind to share.
This is adorable. So sweet, simple and wonderfully cute as can be. Richard from My Old Historic House.
BJ how in the world can you say you are not crafty. I bet there is nothing you can't do. What ever you do everyone will enjoy. That is how I have to look at some of my mistakes too. What counts is your trying. Blessings to you and family and Merry Christmas.

I think your wreath is adorable! I made mine with shortbread dough, but we ate them! :)
That is wonderful! They'd make a wonderful garland, too. Very crafty gal you are and I see no mistakes at all. N.o.n.e.
I think they look wonderful and want to show my mom. I love that it's made with the flour and water so it lasts.
(I also love that part because I've had about a dozen epic failures with gingerbread men the regular way. )
Hi BJ,
It's so nice to meet you! Thank you for coming over to my blog and introducing yourself. I love the way your wreath turned out. That's what I love about sharing creativity, no two are exactly alike. Happy holidays to you! :)
