...I can bake a cherry pie ♫♪♪....quick as a cat can wink his eye....♥♪♫♫
I think little PIE BIRDS are so cute...I am thinking I might like to have a SMALL collection of them to display in my kitchen.. I have a perfect little shelf to display about 8 or 9.
Yeah, right...like I need ONE MORE COLLECTION.
...but they are so cute...♥
This is a few that are on EBAY.....♥ ♫♪
all looking just like a baby bird in the nest, waiting for his mama to bring him DINNER...
Most are between $6 and $20.

Did you know that when you crimp your pie curst, whether it's a single or a double,
if you will really "put a point" on it, when it comes out of the oven, it will still have a distinctive shape.
Otherwise, it tends to loose the points and not look quite as pretty...
BUT...believe me...THAT sure won't affect the taste of your delicious PIE.

BJ, Cherry pie is my very favorite. And not crumb topped, but the very way you made it!
I really did not think that canned cherries would work, and I love sour cherry pie. Good to know.
I can see I will be looking for a pie bird... they are adorable! What a cutie and useful thing.
Please post this yummy pie next week for ON THE MENU MONDAY!It will be the sweetest thing there!
xo Yvonne

I wish i had a piece right now too,its 22:17 and time for bed i think i will be dreaming of cherry pie tonight, just read your post about the sand storm and seen the pictures, wow i have never seen anything like that before, glad everyone is safe xxx
Wow that looks so good. I don't make many cherry pies becasue I don't care for the canned pie filling. I never thought about canned cherries!
Cake looks soo nice, yumii!
Have a great day.
Wow BJ I don't really like cherry pie (I adore fresh cherries as is, but hate anything made with them - go figure!) But this looks outrageous. I want a pie bird now. xo
I remember Lubbock had lots of bad dust storms in the 50"but nothing like that. Wonder where all the red came from? Bet it looked like the end of the world. We had a couple of those when I was in jr.high here in Pampa. As dark as night, but not red. the cherry pie looks delish and I love the little birds.
BJ -- Cherry Pie is what I dream about at night, lol. It is my favorite and I'd pick pie EVERYDAY over cake. I always put a lattice tip on mine and eat it with homemade vanilla ice cream --- YUM!! LOVE pie burds -- so cute!
Blessings!
Gail
Thats a beautiful pie to my eyes:) and I can just imagine how great it tastes... you are such a good cook.
thanks for sharing that recipe.
xoxoxo

Did you get warning of the sand storm?
Apple pie. Apples are in season right now.
Try thrift shops for the pie birds. I see them there sometimes.
Peace.
Looks delicious! After a storm like you experienced, you need some fabulous food!
Thank goodness cherry pie is not one of my favorites to eat. Looking at them is terrific and thanks for the tip about pie crust tips. I've often wondered how gals got such nice results. I usually go with the fork method as it's no fail. Now I might have to try the point thing.
Are you still dusting?
That's my hubby's favorite pie! I made your recipe for pancakes tonight! I made some waffles and some pancakes! Hubby sure loves the waffles! Thanks...and Warm Southern HUGS! ♥
I've always loved pie birds! A woman won a big pie contest one year and her pie had a Thanksgiving turkey pie bird in it! I thought that looked so neat, that's the one I hope to find:@)
I've never even heard of Pie Birds! Very, very cute and they would be so cute as a collection. . .I saw Paula Deen on TV yesterday and she was saying that the art of Pie Making is becoming a thing of the past. Wouldn't that be awful? I LOVE pie!! And yours are BEAUTIFUL!
Cherry pie is right up there with apple pie for me...my favorites! This looks yummy and now I want a pie bird!! ;-D
XO,
Jane
Mmmm, love the shot with the juice running out of it! Be still my heart! The pie birds are adorable. I can see that I am going to have to get some now. I can see you may have started a trend too!
I love cherry pie! So good! The pie birds are adorable and small so a collection won't hurt a thing!
Pie birds have been collected in the UK for years. I have had a lot. The best was an elephant pie bird by Nutbrown, England...but that was big bucks! There are even guides! I am not a good crust maker...yours is so luscious looking!
I'm a first time visitor...glad to meet you!
Ruth
Yummy, yummy! I haven't had cherry pie in a very long time. This is the perfect time of year for it too. thanks for sharing the recipe.
I just knew that you'd be a cherry pie sort of gal! I love it too, but just don't make it often enough.
Ooooo that cheery pie looks delicious, BJ. I seem to make cakes more often than pies but I like pies very much, especially cherry pie. Yours looks so good, I'm not surprised it was a hit.----------Shannon
Girl, that pie looks delicious! I love the little pie birds and will be searching for one for my Sister-in-law for Christmas! I don't bake pies but she does:) Have a blessed day, HUGS!
I'm sure the CHERRY pie was cheery but I meant to say cherry. Sorry. Shannon
I love cherry pie too Bj! My grandmother made the best. My Mom has follwed in her footsteps, but me not so much, I can't bake for the life of me. Now I can do a good box! Yours looks delish!
Pie birds?? I have never seen one. I need to find one of these for my mom. She is the best pie maker in the universe. (Really... she had the sash and tiara to prove it...)
I sure need to make this pie, Its Misters favorite. Your recipe looks easy enough for me, its the crust I never get right. Great photos. Sure would like a piece of your pie, looks so yummy.

my favorite has always been cherry pie, but my husbands is apple...so guess what we usually have...yeppers apple! Cute little pit bird!! They are so sweet. Girl, I am gonna be wishing for some cherry pie all day!!! Happy VTT!
Old song... :-)
"Can she bake a Cherry Pie, Billy Boy, Billy Boy?
.
Can she bake a Cherry Pie, charming Billy?
.
She can bake a Cherry Pie, in the twinkling of an eye.
.
But she's a young thing, and can not leave her mother."
Gentle hugs,
"And close at hand, the basket stood
With nuts from brown October’s wood."

BJ; your pie looks absolutely divine,,,, I love the pie birdies,, I have been looking for some will have to check out eBay maybe I will get lucky.... and find some.... have a great week..
Hugs;
Alaura
It's difficult to think about the sweet little pie birds when all I can think of is cherry pie. It looks scrumptious!!! The little birds will look lovely in your kitchen.
Ann
You keep the pie birds, but pass the pies to me.
BJ, your cherry pie looks fabulous. Wish I had a slice right now. Love the idea of tart cherries.
As for the pie birds, I vote yes. You should have a sweet little collection of these. I collected black ones whenever I could find them, and then used them as part of my table decorations when my goddaughter married. Her maiden name is Blackbird. ;-) She loves having them, though I doubt she uses them for pies. ~ Sarah
I have made that recipe and you are right. It's wonderful! Cherry is also my favorite pie. I have to say though...love peach pie too. Well..and Apricot..but..no..cherry is my all time fav!
Have a great day, bj! Your pie looks scrumptious!!! (hope I spelled that right..)
Hugs,
Mona
BJ,
Yummy! I use to make cherry pies for a dear (now deceased) neighbor. It was his favorite pie! Every time I brought one in the door, he would reply, "Oh Goody, goody...cherry pie!" His grands knew how much he loved pie so, when eating leftovers ...out of respect to Granddad...no one would eat the leftover cherry pie. They always left it for him! Now that's raising your grands up the proper "Southern" way!!!
Fondly,
Pat
yummy~ love the piebirds. My sister had several piebirds, but unfortunately lost her collection in a fire. Always enjoy seeing the little birds!
Oh Please tell me where you get your lemon curd. I've always wanted to try some and would love to try one someone else has already given the thumbs up on :)... Love that vintage glass mail box and your cherry pie looks devine.
Hi BJ,
I wanted to take a bite of that pie so much, it looks delicious. All that wonderful sauce just pouring out on the side, girl I have to make one now. Thank you so much for sharing with Full Plate Thursday. Hope you are having a great week end and come back soon!
Miz Helen
Cherry pie! Yummy! I love french or dutch apple and blueberry too! Yum! Holiday baking is in the air! You make me hungry girl!
I almost squealed when I saw the adorable pie birds! The cherry pie looks juicy and delicious.
I think pie birds are adorable, BJ! If I didn't already have so many OTHER collections, I would start one with these little cuties, as well.
By the way, that cherry pie looks yummy! And I just happen to have fresh-frozen cherries from this year's harvest. ;)
Thanks for joining Time Travel Thursday again this week. I always love having you join the fun!
