An Autumn living room mantel...

Hi, everyone..
Gosh, I am sure enjoying seeing all the different ways to
CELEBRATE AUTUMN in and around our blessed homes.
Despite our drought conditions, we are having the most beautiful AUTUMN.
Every day is just a delight and some of my flowers have even started blooming.
During the extreme heat we had throughout the summer, my poor little flowers
just bowed their heads, wilted to the ground and, sad to say, a lot of them will
never recover...like my VIOLETS...
We've been told by the weathermen/women that we can expect a dry, mild winter.
Not much, if ANY, moisture UNTIL NEXT MARCH OR APRIL...
O MY....
Our town, as I've mentioned before, is very low on water.
They are working hard on laying a pipeline from a large lake nearby...
The problem there is that, without measurable rains throughout last year and this year,
the lakes around are sooo low.
It makes me wonder if, someday in the not-so-far future,
this part of West Texas will be doomed...people having to leave and find other places to live.
I THINK, during the Dust Bowl Days and the early 20's, this kind of thing DID happen.

Looking on the bright side, tho...
when it DOES rain...and I mean good, ground-soaking, slow rains,
we are all going to REVEL in it.

rev·el  (rvl)

1. To take great pleasure or delight:
2. To engage in uproarious festivities; make merry.
YEP...we will indeed revel in the rains.

Such pretty things on your mantel, love the joy of the flower. We have had a very wet year, two years...and we are considered a desert but I know, not quite like west Texas..they do everything big there, right?! ;D

Very pretty Bj! Great shots too. It is chilly and rainy here today. Good day to be on the computer catching up!

I sure am happy to read you; I have been trying to reach you, but lost your email add.. I hope everything is OK with your Google thing.
I listened to your kind words and left my comment option on my blog. Maybe like you wrote yesterday on Your post I was Gone Crazy.
Love your great photos. Hope you will be getting rain soon; you sure need it. I keep you in my thoughts.

So pretty BJ...you have surely had such an awful drought for so, so long. But your attitude is, as always, wonderful!

Hi BJ, glad to see you are back. I love all these lovely things on your mantle. We have had too much rain here, I wish they could figure a way to store and ship and refill those lakes! xo

Very nice mantel, BJ. Everything looks mellow in here, which, I think, belies what's really going on. Can you explain what happened with the "cute little flower"? Did its "owner" ask you to remove it. Did it come with a virus or something?

Wish I could send some rain your way. Cool and rainy here today. Stay inside kind of day. Love your ironstone.

I wish I could send you some rain that we're having right now. We've been without rain most of the summer, but are finally getting some. I know how anxious it can make you feel when your reserves are running low. We've had water bans in place when we get like that.

Well.... Our weather people said we would have above normal rain/snow/slop !! Oey.... Winter.
Love the mantle...

Your mantle and pics are so pretty! I just don't know what to say about the drought, I so wish Texas would get the rain it needs.

Love it that you turned on the color on that last image. We are still way behind on rain even though it's raining now but nothing like you guys. Every time I turn on the sink I think how precious water is. hugs♥O

I love your fall mantel. I've seen some really lovely ones this year!

I continue to pray for Texas and the drought. When I heard it was raining the other day, I was so thankful for you. We have problems around here, but it has been mild compared to you.

bj, love the mantle. I don't do much Fall decorating just a little here and there and a few flowers out on the porch. So glad to hear you you've had some rain. Your region of TX sure had a long drought. Hope more is on the way. Hope your day is good.

We are supposed to have rainstorms tonight and tomorrow. The dew is so heavy every night around here that it looks and feels like it has rained all night. Your mantle turned out so pretty. So many different ideas out their in blogland it's hard to choose which ideas to go with!

that has been my fear too - once sept. passed us by and brought very little rain, that we'd have to get thru winter with almost no rain. the municipal districts are already SO strapped in trying to supply water since our lake supplies are so low. lord, let it rain in buckets! :)

Be sure and record your "rain dance"..because it's going to be something to see, I am sure!

I thought I saw in the news that Texas got rain but I guess I was wrong. hmmmm...
California has gone through some serious droughts..and they were about to fine us if we watered our lawns..and then "the rains came down" and we filled up all our reservours (sp?)and things have been good ever since. So...anything could happen and I hope the rains come down.

I am happy to see that it has not dampened your spirits.. *smile*
I am glad God gave you such a lovely Fall to help compensate for no rain. HE tends to do that, doesn't HE?

Thank goodness, we got some as well. The paper said today, the drought is a long way from being over for around here. Still on strict water restrictions. I love your mantel in white. White always makes things look so fresh and clean. Speaking of looking in the mirror, I do not even want to touch that. I am expecting mine to crack any day.
