I wonder how I could have lived such a loooong life
and never made this candy before. !!
OMGosh...
I'm pretty sure all you people have been making it, like, forever,
but this is my first time...*blush and kick dirt clods
The recipe didn't tell me that it made enough for 9000 guests....
but I sure am glad it did.
Not only is it so delicious...
like potato chips...YOU CAN'T EAT JUST ONE.
but it's
NO COOK...
CHOCOLATE NO BAKE COOKIES/CANDY ♥
2 cups sugar
4 Tablespoons Cocoa
1 stick butter
1/2 cup milk
1 cup peanut butter
1 Tablespoon Vanilla
3 cups Oatmeal (I use the old fashioned kind..not the instant)
In a heavy saucepan, bring to a boil the sugar, cocoa, butter and milk.
Let boil for 2 minute and then add peanut butter, vanilla and oatmeal.
On waxed paper, drop mixture by teaspoonfuls and let cool and harden.

Mmmm, now that looks yummy. I have a similar no-bake recipe, and it is delicious. It's one of my son's favorites. :)
ReplyDeleteHope you don't mind, but I tagged you for a blog award:

Cheers,

That is the kind to make in this heat box we are in. Too hot to use the stove. Wish I had some of these now with a big glass of cold milk.
ReplyDeleteI call these "schoolhouse cookies". They use to serve these at school back in the 60's. (just dated myself) Just made these last week - let me warn you, YOU CANNOT EAT JUST ONE! I too have blog about these little treasures!
ReplyDeleteomg.......what luscious bites of deliciousness. I'll have to make these when I feel thinner lol lol lol
ReplyDeletexo,
Hi BJ...
ReplyDeleteGirl, you are sooo cute! I just made a big ol' batch of these yesterday! We love them and they really are sooo easy! We call them chocolate no-bake cookies here in Colorado. I love peanut butter and I love chocolate...it's a "win-win" sweet for me! Hehe!
Have a great day, Darlin'!
Chari
BJ,
ReplyDeleteThese are addictive, I agree! Now you can add them to your vast collection of delectable recipes! I've seen what you turn out of your kitchen, and oh, my, it's always good!
Now you have me craving chocolate.
They sound nice and easy and yummy BJ, I haven't heard of them before! Sign me up for the Chocoholics Program:@)
ReplyDeleteThese are a favorite of the men in our family. I haven't made them in a very long time.
ReplyDeleteOh I love these cookies. Haven't had them forever because of the gluten. I recently saw gluten free oats that I may have to give a try.
ReplyDeleteYep-We love these too! I can't believe you never had them before. When we went to school they were a staple in our lunch room! lol Glad you found them but they ARE addictive! Remember quitting smoking? The miracle? yeah...well, you may need one after you start eating these puppies! xo Diana
ReplyDeleteOh, I love those and now I need to make 4000 of them, too. I have not made them, but my daughter has several times. She loves them. I do believe I have all the ingredients. Lucky me. Thanks for reminding me of this wonderful treat.
ReplyDeleteAren't they just wicked!? Earls mom makes them and the girls, and us, just go wild for them. I try no to make them because I have absolutely no will power. Oh they look so good!
ReplyDeleteThese were my mother-in-law's specialty -- we still call them grandma cookies :)
ReplyDeleteBlessings!
Gail
If you like darker chocolate, just substitute Hershey's Dark Chocolate Cocoa. Even better!!!
ReplyDeleteYou are so cute, BJ! These look so delicious! I am getting caught-up on reading your blog today! I have had a nasty stomach virus.
ReplyDeleteBJ, these are so good and easy to make for a quick party treat. I have also made them with coconut instead of oatmeal. I use this recipe when I make edible birds nest for Easter, just make a well in the middle and add three little jellybeans for the eggs. You can also roll them into little balls and let dry out a little. I place about 10 in a small plastic baggy and staple on a paper poem of raindeer poop. I'm not nuts!!! There is a real poem on this subject. When I use to teach preschool the kids would make these for Christmas and give them out to their parents as a gift. Look up the poem on google. By the way kids love making and eating them. Let me know what you think. Decor. Lady
ReplyDeleteThey're a favorite around here -- we used to call them "fudgies" in school.
ReplyDeleteMy grandmother made these all the time and I love them. I've made them, but I live with a person who doesn't like chocolate (can you imagine?) and that means I have to eat them all. So, I don't make them often. I can eat way too many at one sitting. Now I am craving them!!
ReplyDeleteJust plain yummy, bj!!
ReplyDeleteI remember having these in elementary school as treats. I haven't made them myself but thanks for reminding me of this, I may just have to make some for my kiddos!
ReplyDeleteHave a good night!
Michele
I grew up with something similar, except ours didn't have peanut butter, but did have nuts and coconut! I need to introduce my children to them.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE these! And it gets even better - My HUSBAND makes these!! Could it be any better than that?
ReplyDeleteFANTASTIC cookies that I don't even have to prepare!
I like to think of them as "healthy" fudge since they have oats in them. :-)
These are my hubby's favorite cookies. His daughter makes him a a big batch for christmas each year....I started making these when I was 12. I don't make them often any more guess I should. Trish
ReplyDeleteHello dear bj, thanks for visiting me while I was gone. 1'M HOME!!! We had a wonderful Blog friends party at Claudie's. Canada, is a beautiful place. It is good to be home.
ReplyDeleteI adore your header and your beautiful and handsome family. Just precious. They make our world go round.
I have been making no bakes for a long time. I know how delicious they are as well. Enjoy!
Tired from traveling my friend.
Goodnight for now and sister love to you,
Jeanne
Oh BJ! Are you kidding? They look way too good. I might just have to try them. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteAnne xx
bj, I've got to make some of those when my little Connor comes for the weekend. Yum, I better make enough for everyone I think.
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend.

Oh Beeej, one of my favs!!! They used to serve them at school for our cookies at lunch. We always made them at home, too. I really feel like you should only be no more than 2 steps away from chocolate, tho!

I haven't made these in years and years - but you've inspired me. Today's the day! Might even share your blog post about it :)
ReplyDeleteYummilicious! Gotta make 'em:) Have a blessed day, HUGS!
ReplyDeleteHi BJ *hugs*
ReplyDeleteYeeeummmy. How good those look and I wonder where I've been all my life too! I love candy and I love chocolate and I am going to make those for sure.
It mkes a large recipe...I wonder if they keep a long time and where the best place to store them is.
I hope you have a beautiful weekend.
Judi
I've eaten those, I believe, but I've never made them. Deeeelicious!
ReplyDeleteAnd it might be a cookie I would want to "not bake" during the dog days.
Hi...I'd like to try these with my 6th grade students...about how many did this recipe make? And don't tell me 9000!! They look good and easy!
ReplyDeleteOne of the first things I made as a little girl! You are oh so right, you cannot eat just one, absolutely addicting. Yours looks perfect. I can't tell you how many times mine failed. I love it that my kids are now making these.
ReplyDeleteI grew up eating those yummy treats, BJ! Of all the sweets my mom made when I was a child, that was the recipe most often used.
ReplyDeleteGlad you FINALLY discovered it! ;)

ReplyDelete-giggles- I would if I could, Honey Bun!!!
I can't believe in all my years of collecting recipes and baking I've never come across this one. I am copying it and will have to make it for the next potluck or church supper I go to. By the way, your grandkids are beautiful. Lovely family.
ReplyDeleteYou know, I used to make those when my kids were small...have completely forgotten about them! Thanks for the reminder. Anything "no cook" in this heat is great.
ReplyDeleteHope you're doing well. I just don't get out much unless it's in the mornings or late evening.
I have a wonderful giveaway going ~ would love for you to stop by!

BJ, These were a staple in our household growing up! Simple, no bake chocolate yumminess that even the little kids could help make! You are tempting me to make some today.
ReplyDeletehugs, Sue
Hi BJ, I've made those plenty of times. They are GREAT for when you need a chocolate fix really bad - because the ingredients are right there, they are quick to make and they are yummy, yummy, yummy! You can add coconut to these, or not...the peanut butter is also optional but they're so much better with!
ReplyDeleteMy tomatoes are doing great and I think it's time to make salsa - have you made any lately? Hope you are getting enough rain for your lawn and gardens.
Hugs, Beth
