My Country French Farm House Table

is having FARM HOUSE TABLE meme this week...
and I LUV to play in her memes.
PART of this post is from the past and
part is *today*....
Here's a neat thing about todays designs...
You can call your STYLE anything you want to.
Some days, my dining room is SHABBY...
Some days, it's COUNTRY...
Some days, it's ROMANTIC PRAIRIE, which it MOSTLY is.
ONCE UPON A TIME....
there were some very BROWN dining chairs...
Since I am a "LOVE PAINTED FURNITURE" person,
these chairs were NOT my favorite thing in my dining room...
....a LITTLE natural furniture is ok...
but a large farm house table in brown oak,
6 OAK chairs and a large OAK buffet
WAS TOO MUCH FOR ME...!

I reached for the paint can MANY times but MR. SWEET sucked air through his teeth
and his eyes rolled so far back, I was sure, ONCE AGAIN, that he might never
be able to focus them again !!

BUT, THEN.... my friend wanted to sell her almost new CREAMY WHITE dining chairs...
Although I PROMISE I never really PRAYED for creamy white dining chairs,
I TOOK THIS AS A SIGN FROM ABOVE...
and when she said...
$150.00 for ALL SIX,
I got that money to her so fast it caused me to pass a little gas !
....and, may I just say....
OH HONEY !
My farm house table came ALIVE when
the creamy white chairs came to live with it.
These chairs made my dining room
GROW UP OVERNIGHT....!!!
Yes, ma'am....they surely did.
I love to change up the table setting and I do it pretty often...
Loved these beautiful flowering branches and basket of whites.

I love my french country farmhouse chandy...I love the chunkyness of it..
It seems to "hold it's own" with the heavy, long oak table beneath it...and I really love the white glass globes. This was found at a local FLEA MARKET about 18 years ago for $45.00....
I've wondered several times if I should paint the base of it...somehow, I like the brushed brass.
I also love SHINY brass and am VERY slow to ever paint over it....
I have  been eyeing the ORB spray at Walmart, tho....

Of course, just about the time I get it sprayed bronze,
the brushed brass will start showing up in POTTERY BARN catalogs.

Some of you might know that I am a
TABLE CLOTH PERSON.....big time !
BUT...
I'm giving this nekked table a few days to see if I like it better...
**
I do love a pretty tablecloth but....
these ADORABLE CREAMY WHITE CHAIRS
are makin' this brown table look lots better....
I put some vintage shutter SWINGING DOORS
up beside my windows...
I had BLUE TRANSFERWARE plates hanging there but...
they have been there 6 or 7 years and I wanted something new...
...to match
THE CHAIRS...
Now this table dressing REALLY takes on a
Country French feel...
At first, these shutters  looked STRANGE to me...
you know how you get used to something one way and when
you change it, it takes awhile before you know if you're
gonna like it or not...
but, so far...I like the frenchy farm house  look it adds
to my BED AND BREAKFAST dining room...
The one with the
LOVED, CREAMY WHITE CHAIRS !!
I'm tellin' ya....it's ALL ABOUT THE CHAIRS.!
This next photo is one of two benches MR. SWEET made for me.
When there's no little butts to sit on it,
I like something pretty on this one beneath my mom's quilt.
This is another way I like to decorate THE BENCH..
A little country french going on here.
I'VE been hanging out in the dining room since I am IN LOVE with it again...
and dining rooms make me hungry...
I had lemons....
and our SWEET TOOTH was wanting a.....PIE
....if I could have only ONE dessert in the world...I WOULD CHOOSE PIE !!
See the 1954 calendar plate?
It belonged to MR. SWEET'S momma...
*One of our kids or grands will get it if they want it...
I really don't think it's all that pretty but...
sentiment, ya know....
Frankly.....
I like this plain white vintage plate with a piece of
LEMON PIE
much better !
;>)

Isn't it so wonderful when you get something that you just LOVE and you spend half the day walking back in there to LOOK at it all over again ?
It STILL blows my mind that the white chairs make the
olden farm house table look so much better than the brown chairs did.
The sun is shinning bright out my window...
Hope your day is FILLED with sunshine !!

Those chairs are perfect and your dining area is just beautiful. Loved the wedding and I hope the paparazzi leaves them be, at least for awhile. Our prayers are also with all those affected by the weather.

All that food would make me one happy person. Regarding your question, it would be nice to have a recipe especially since people can't resist such yummy goodies and want to recreate them. This way, they'd be able to enjoy all your treats for themselves. Thanks for always linking up.

Oh I see what you mean. It is all about the white chairs. They look great. And where are your brown chairs now? Your description of your hubby sucking air through his teeth made me laugh as did other discussions. You're a hoot!

Love the white chairs. I'm thinking of painting mine and definitely need to re-do the seats...(Grands!)
I'm undecided on color though. Yours are great! And you're right they make your table LOOK SO GREAT!

LOVE IT!!! BJ - what a steal!! $150 for all 6. I am in desperate need of a dining room AND some chairs but I only have space for a 4-6'er. Tiny little nook. Eh - thats's ok...everyone hangs in the kitchen anyway! :)

BJ, I still cannot get over much those gorgeous white chairs transformed that table and the enitre room. It came alive. Love the chandy. That would have been my choice. It really anchors the space. I think I would leave it just like it is. I like a mix of elements and the metal is a nice touch.
Hugs, Sue
P.S. Pie is my absolute favorite too. I love nothing more then a piece of homemade apple pie and a cup of coffee in the morning. BLISS!

I have always loved your gorgeous dining room Bj! Your mother quilt is one of my favorite things about it, such a brilliant spot of color:>) Love the chairs too, and you may be interested to know that I recently heard that brass is on the way back! Besides, so many have gone bronze now it just feels like joining the crowd, and we don't want to do that do we?

Hi Bj, thanks for visiting my blog! Funny, I have gotten so many comments about my remark on not taking vacations! But it's true. Never in my whole life! Maybe I should contact the Guiness Book Of World Records? Hmmm...perhaps I can milk this for all it's worth? You have a lovley blog, and I adore your dining room. I liked it before, but now even better! And I love that big wall clock I see in the background. Hey, we have many of the same favorite movies!!! Almost all of them! Wow, you have so many followers!!!! But I can see why, you are very artistic photographer.
