I'VE BEEN WORKIN' ON THE....CHAIN GANG♫♫♪

OK...maybe I HAVEN'T been working on a CHAIN GANG but
I HAVE BEEN WORKING....
AND...

CLEANING CLOSETS...
AGAIN !!
...how do I get so many clothes in my closet that I NEVER wear?
It seems like about every 6 or 8 months, I have to go thru  and
clean it all up.
I sure get sick of it...*frowning
I wish they would invent a SPRAY that would keep
everything just perfect!!
Of course, if I took the time to put things back where they belong instead
of opening the door...throwing things in...slam the door quickly and leave,
it wouldn't look like a tornado hit it all the time.:(
(seems I'm in a grouchy mood...yep..housework does that to me)
Tons of old clothes...(wonder if I could make a tiny pillow out of that black and white polka dot? )
shoes...
two big trash bags out and ready to go to the thrift shop...
YAY...maybe I do hate cleaning closets but...
I feel so goood after it's all done.
:))
While cleaning closets,
I did 3 loads of laundry.
Changed sheets on the bed...
so I had a load of sheets and towels,
a load of WHITES and a load of COLOREDS...
(how do only 2 people have so many dirty towels and dirty clothes so often?)
We're either awfully clean or awfully dirty.!!

YUM # ONE..

Having some cute things in my laundry closet makes it all a little more cheerful..
I found 2 socks that had to go into my cute little LOST SOCKS....
their mates will probably show up after I check under the bed...
or behind the door...
or in my fridge...NO...JUST KIDDIN'...:)
YUM # TWO

..."Grandmothers are just antique little girls..."
:))
 I STILL IRON...do you?
YUM # 3

...but this adorable painting by DUDA DAZE  sure does help my feelings.
I have it hanging where I can see it while I wash and iron and I just LOVE it.
She has an ETSY shop where she sells these precious paintings and copies...
you should go over and check it out.
Would you kindly tell her bj said HEY ?
My fridge needs cleaning so TONIGHT...
It is LEFT-OVERS aka POTLUCK DINNER....
a small dish of leftover mashed potatoes
became
CHEESE POTATO PATTIES
There was just enough HOMEMADE VEGGIE SOUP
for each a nice sized bowl..
This soup is usually better a day or so later...
all those delicious flavors marry and it is sooo tasty.

YUM #4
Potato patties, little smokey sausage roasted in the oven..
a bowl of homemade veggie soup...
a hot roll and salad....
it made for a great meal without having to do much cooking on a night that I was tired..
and now...
my fridge is cleared out enough to be able to give it a good cleaning  in the morning..
I HATE cleaning out the fridge..
getting rid of all the things that need replacing...
washing all the trays..
the shelves...
BUT....
IN THE MEANTIME, HOWEVER,
Tonight I will relax after a hard days work with
this....
A good cup of DUNKIN DONUTS coffee...
a couple of little CHOCOLATE cookies...
a few strawberries....
(someone emailed me the other day and wanted to know
if we had a GREENHOUSE where we raised all our
STRAWBERRIES !! hahhhaaa...gotta love it
I know we DO eat a lot of them but I surely don't raise them...
wish I did !)
Spending time with my beautiful new book
that my daughter, STACY LEIGH, gave me for CHRISTMAS...
This has to be the prettiest book I have ever owned....
I am enjoying it SOOO much.
Thanks, again, sweet girl.

YUM #5
After all this HOUSEWORK and possibly a few warts,
I am pretty sure my girl friends and I are due a
fabulous lunch at CRACKER BARREL....soon !!
Hope ya'll have a great day today.

and thanks to YOU for coming by today.

I just blogging.....don't you?

I do still iron and so does my daughter...but most people I know, don't! We have lots of laundry too, but I just do it every day and it never looks like we have any that way!

I usually iron on Tuesday mornings and get it all done for the week. Since I don't put much of my stuff in the dryer...I iron almost everything.

I want to tackle all of the kitchen cabinets and drawers, but I know we are getting new countertop this spring and then I'll have to do it all over again...so, I'm waiting. That is a job I hate!

Oh, I have got to clean my closet. I just can't seem to get it done. I hate that job. Great post and all your Yums are fabulous. Hugs, Marty

Honestly Bj I think the clothes and shoes breed in the closet. There is no other possible answer (wink, wink). I have to do the same thing to my closet about every 6 to 8 months and I am just about ready.

I like to iron. I find it very meditative. I will even iron the pillow cases when I forget them in the dryer or can't get to them in time.

Spring is in the air and I am ready to do some major things around the house. I went on a cleaning frenzy about a month ago. My local thrift shop was so happy with me. My big spring project this year is to paint a couple of rooms. Can't wait!

Enjoy your evening!

Hugs, Sue

Yes, I still iron. It's not so bad once I get going. Thanks for the cleaning out inspiration - I need to work in my sewing room - it's overflowing!! Sally

BJ, it sounds like you have been just a little busy!? Good on you for doing this great big clean up. I bet you felt so good after it!

I must confess I am not usually the person who does the ironing. My hubby loves doing it! I know-I am so lucky! After a busy day at work he finds it therapeutic, God bless him.

Best wishes and happy day,
Natasha.

B.J. you and I are so much alike. I throw things in the closet too and shut the door. It is a mess. You can come do mine when you are through. I always ask how do two people make so many dirty clothes, too. I do laundry almost every day. How? I do still iron, but haven't in a long time. Another reason my laundry room is a mess. We also drink dunkin doughnuts coffee. Wow you have been busy!

Love that LOST SOCKS tote! Enjoy your day out with the girls. You deserve it!

Yes, yes, yes, housework does cause worts!!! That's why I avoid it at all costs! I do admire your ambition though:@)

BJ, My hubby swears I change clothes at least three to four times daily. But I cannot do that because I work. But it seems we are forever and a day doing laundry~~and it is just the two of us.

Well BJ, I made your veggie soup and it was a hit. My daughter left with a big container full for her dinner. And those cookies you have to go with your coffee...I have those, too. A cat gave me a box of them for Christmas :) I love cats that shop.
I don't iron but I do love to do laundry. You do have a cute spot there to do that chore. I must fancy up my laundry area. Hugs, Deb=^..^=x5

What a fun post! I HATE ironing - but my senior mom AND my daughters are all excellent about it - go figure. :) Be interesting to see which route the grandchildren go. Thanks for a delightful visit for Blue Monday AND Rednesday. :)

Great post.. I love any post that has to do with cleaning.. I'm wierd I know... I'm a clean freak you see... :() I thought that Lost Sock bucket was adorable. I need one of them, although, my I think my old washer used to eat them.. Yes, I still iron but only when completely necessary. My mother used to iron all the time, but I don't think they had as much permanent press as they do now. I do like to iron tableclothes an doiles though. Isn't it slightly crazy that I love the smell of the spray starch? lol... I enjoyed reading your post.

Oh, well, you KNOW darn well I iron and I admit I like doing it. Especially with my lovely new Iron!
I don't have a laundry room! HOW I wish I did..but I've never had one. I wash in the garage. I'm poor folk! :)
Sweet husband keeps the garage nice...but since the roof went on...there is just more cleaning to do. It's funny how it seems to get harder and harder to do some things. It's climbing that bothers both of us lately.

I have two closets full of clothes, bj, and I just keep dragging things out and somehow it fills up.
Ah well. Sweetie hangs onto clothes more than I do. :)
So between us...not much gets thrown out or taken off to Goodwill!
Hugs,
Mona

Boy, can I relate! I did a post in January where my daughter helped me weed out 14 bags of clothes! Well ~~~ I was just forced to go shopping today for my own birthday! ;)

You have been mighty busy, Lady!

I love to iron, but not many clothes need it anymore. So, I iron them anyway! Ha I do keep my closet fairly organized though. About 3 years ago I had a professional organizer come in and do my closet - it's made a WORLD of difference. Keep working, it's worth it in the end! Have a great week. Sandi

You asked if I iron...only if I have to...Yum picture was adorable.

I am starting the process of going thru the closets...collecting some things I can not wear....they shrunk! (No, gained weight)

I never seem to stop weeding out and hauling things to Salvation Army. I don't even have that many clothes to begin with! Yes I do still iron. It is actually one household chore I kinda like. As for cleaning out the fridge, Earl does that:>) I LOVE how domestic he is!

And thanks to you for a good read...I hate cleaning...I sure do feel better after I get it done tho...only iron when its a have to. I think cracker barrel has the best coffee... haven't tryed DUNKIN DONUTS coffee yet. Trish

I iron only when I have to. I have two chihuahuas that can hear the ironing board going up no matter how quiet I try to be. They go into a barking frenzy every time it goes up.
Love the little picture you have hung.
I just finished organizing my closet. I did a little each day for about a week.
Your dinner sounded yummy. I love soup. I like to make it too.
Laundry? Did you say Laundry? The word makes me cringe. I am doing laundry for my Granddaughter and my three great grandsons for awhile now. My hate for laundry needs no further explanation. :)

Love your lost socks thingie. Where did you get it? I'm over here from,..I don't know who's blog. Anyway - it was the closet cleaning that caught my eye. I don't know how it came to be, but The Hunter offered to help me go through my shoes. It went fast and I too have those great big black bags full of stuff to get out of my house! Oh - there are only the two of us and there is always an amazingly, confusing pile of laundry. Glad I found you.

I don't iron anymore but I wish I did. I love the feel of freshly ironed shirts!

I love your laundry room. What a pleasant place to work!

Whew, you wore me out!

Do I dare say it? Okay, I will.........YUM!!! Especially the soup. I love soups...all kinds.

So, you're now cleaning, huh? I finished that huge chore of Spring Cleaning the other week, now Bud and I are outdoors doing a bit of cleaning up from the winter kill frosts!! The yard is looking pretty good right now.

Thanks for stopping by yesterday and leaving your comment...I loved your company! And yes, the weather is great right now...high 70s for afternoon temps and plenty of sunshine!!

I spent all day yesterday washing and then ironing.

I too need to clean out the closet...and the fridge...and the garage... is it not a wonder that I would rather blog?

Debbie said...

I hate to iron and don't think I've ever ironed a whole laundry basket full or anything. We just keep our ironing board on the back of a closet door in the bedroom, and I iron as I go.

Probably should be more properly stated that I give it a "lick and a promise" as I go.

What a great post. I don't feel NEARLY so alone knowing that someone as together as you are also toss the toss and slam.

I love your laundry room! What a cheery place to work and make things clean. Yes, I do iron - usually enjoy it, too.

Oh yes, we do have to do housework and laundry once in a while, don't we?! lol I actually enjoy cleaning (I know, must be a disease I have!! hehe) and yup, I still iron as well. My favourite part of doing laundry is being able to hang the clothes out on the clothesline but can't do that right now, they'd be as stiff as a doorknob with it being so cold! lol

My closets get the same way as yours and every few months I have to clean them out...I swear things mate and multiply in there!! The thrift shops around here just love me cuz I'm forever bringing them bags full of stuff. lol

Your dinner looked delicious, amazing what one can do with leftovers:-) I bought strawberries the other day and they were the most god awful things I've ever tasted...hard as a rock and no taste! Ended up using them in a smoothie! lol xoxo

Come over here and inspire me, with all your cleaning, will ya' Hon? Please... Pretty please... Pretty please with sugar on it... :-)

Yeah, how do 2 people make so much laundry, hu? ,-) Although I am getting better at doing like a-load-a-day kind of system...

When my laundry went down the laundry shoot, to the cellar, it was out of sight. And I'd not wander down there, till it was absolutely necessary. And by then, it would be piled sky high. lol.

Now I boot a load, down from upstairs to the main floor, where our still-kinda-new laundry room is, and do it. More on a one a day basis. It makes me feel soooooooooooooooooooooooo virtuous and amazing. -giggles-

House cleaning is my next project. I am waiting to catch spring fever so I can move faster. I am working this week in the yard as it is pretty for a change. I can hardly move today, but I am getting it looking clean for spring.

Wow ! You are a busy lady; woman's housework is never done. Ihave been trying to get it done gradually; I jsut can't do it all in one shot.
I have a bag in one of my closets and whatever doesn't fit or ... I put it in there. Whe it's full I bring to this bin down the street where they collect, resell and make money for diabetes.
This way I feel it was ok to get rid of it.

Hi BJ,
What a fun post! Sometimes it feels like the clothes in my closet just multiplies all by itself. Don't know how...that rule "one in, one out" doesn't apply to us, I guess!!
Ironing can be calming, if done correctly.
Cooking can be relaxing, as well.
Cleaning the fridge, never, ever!
Hope you have a great day,
xo

I iron every darn dress shirt Mr. S owns and I seem to have so many linen and cotton items that need to be pressed. It's not my favorite household chore, but it's better than paying over $3 a shirt at the cleaners! I organized all my closets in Jan. as part of my PURGE. I'll probably do it again mid year- I don't know how those darn rooms get so filled up so soon!

BJ,
YES! I still iron. . .and I love it! To me it's aromatherapy! I adore the smell of clean laundry and the combination with starch! I grew up in a small town and I enjoyed hanging clothes on the line to dry. Makes for a wonderful nights sleep. Didn't know that housework caused warts! But I have heard. . .Housework never killed anyone, but why take the chance!
Thanks for inspiring all of us to clean out those closets and give to our local thrift shops!
Fondly,
Pat

I loved, loved, loved this post! I have hated ironing since I was very young. My mom had me iron everything!
I wash a ton of clothes for two people. I swear other people live here and we just don't know it. Mondays is my day for laundry, changing sheets, towels and cleaning bathrooms.
My closets are overflowing and I have just moved in. I just don't see an end to any of this! Now Spring will be here and we will feel like we have to do spring cleaning! Our job is NEVER done!
Blessings My Friend,
I hope we don't have to clean house in heaven!!!! lol

I just love the gentle nudge that spring is upon us and get those closets cleaned out and ready to go. Some of the best home meals come when the refrigerator gets cleaned out, if we could always remember to write down how much of what we put together.Thank you so much for sharing with us at Full Plate Thursday and hope to see you next week!
