WHITE...
it's "coming back IN"
with a vengeance...
*
I am so sooo glad since I have
ALWAYS loved whites, creams, off-whites,
ESPECIALLY for walls.
*
To me.....BEIGE can be boring (not always)
but WHITE is never, ever boring.
shows off color in stunning ways.
COUNTRY LIVING magazine has an
entire issue of
...how to choose warm whites
cool whites
...how to mix whites for a pleasing combination
...how to arrange whites...
The magazine is just full of....
well....
WHITES !!

IMAGE from COUNTRY LIVING..
I've wanted a wall rack such as this forEVER
for my small collection of
WHITE PLATTERS.
Mr. Sweet said he would be GLAD to build one for me..
I, on the other hand, would be responsible for
finding a wall BIG enough and BARE enough for it.
SOOO...
THAT is the hold-up...
*heavy sigh
why is it always MY fault? :))
What a beautiful heavy cream wall of
WHITE mirrors..
I am still enjoying MY wall of WHITE mirrors
and seem to never tire of them.
I wonder if they were painted in colors
instead of WHITE, if I could use them
for a long period of time without
becoming very tired of them...?
I doubt it..
The white, against the whitness of the wall,
is just mellow and non-intrusive, I think.
*
Sometimes, I like things to POP..
other times, I strive for a softer look.
...swoon.....
It's almost more than I can muster
not to jerk all these books off my bookshelves
and put
ALL WHITES....
Country Living
loves WHITE/CREAM walls.
More COUNTRY LIVING cuteness...
CREAMY WHITE CUTENESS. that is...
WHITE ...is classic...
WHITE ...is beautiful...
WHITE ...
IS IN !!!
Creamy white walls,
glossy white woodwork...
White slipcovers..
and just look at the TOWER of white suitcases...
aren't they adorable.!
I WANT IT ALL !!!
Hey...
I even want her boots !! :))
A beautiful COUNTRY LIVING bedroom..
(the dress form MIGHT cause me to have bad dreams, tho..I am such a titty baby.)
If there was EVER a room I would ....kill....for...
it would be this one.
Her walls appear to be done in a HEAVY YELLOW-CREME...
Maybe if I work on MY dining room a little more..
I can get it closer to the
COUNTRY LIVING one..
At least I have a starting point with
a VINTAGE French Blue Secretary. :))
EVEN THO I am NOT blond and I am 438 years older than HER..!!
This COUNTRY LIVING living room is beautiful...
well...to me, THIS room needs SOMEthing..
WHAT?
It needs DONNA or MISS MUSTARD SEED...
that's what it needs.
Those two ladies can whip a room into shape faster and easier than any one I know.
Just blows my mind !
I try so hard to stay up with them...or to do some of the cuteness they put out..
but, I gotta face it...
THEY are 42 times faster on their young feet
than I EVER was..!!
*heavy groan
.Back to the room.....it's not ME...
nor does it look as if
LOTS of teenage grands..
LOTS of men in our family and fellowship group,
would be that comfy.
STILL...
it IS beautiful.
I wanted to share this adorable WHITE TEA TOWEL
that I found in my Christmas stocking...from my beautiful STACY.
I am just in love with it.
Speaking of CHRISTMAS..
I had this OLDEN tea table sAt
(as old as I am, I still get confused on SIT, SET, SAT.)
for us and got busy and forgot all about our
Christmas Tea Time..
I thought this would be a good time to show my Christmas table to you..
since I am doing
WHITES....

...and I ate all the cookies.!!...every single one of them !!

Oh I love that magazine, it is laying right here beside me:) When we built our house almost 9 years ago, I chose cream walls and white trim! It wasn't really "IN" back then but girl, it is certainly "IN" now! I still love your red table, everybody needs a little color:) Have a blessed evening! HUGS!
ReplyDeleteI love white too and I love to add color to it! I loved the bedroom here too, I so love soft fluffy beds! Love your little red table too :D
ReplyDeleteI love all this inspiration, BJ!
ReplyDeleteThe painters left a little while ago. The whole upstairs is now white. Either white white in the studio or antique white in the two bedrooms and bathroom and down the hall. What an amazing difference it made. So now, the only rooms in the house that aren't white are the powder room, kitchen area and J's "lodge" in the basement. The lodge will be antique white as soon as I save up pennies for the paint.
We both love the sticks and stones in the kitchen area. I have a bunch of my stuff put back. All the white dishes look beautiful against the gray.
Can't wait till I see the sticks and stones in sunshine.
I love all of that white as well, but I could never pull it off. Just never. I love what you've done with the white pitchers and creamers and such. Just too cute. But, I can't imagine a home of BJs without lots of pops of black and red. It just wouldn't be you. But maybe one room in white...
ReplyDeleteJustine
Good Lord BJ I am laughing at you saying you are such a "titty baby!"
ReplyDeleteLOL!
I love me some whites too and these magazines just make us drool and want to change everything!
I just love your wall of white mirrors and I would never change it.
hugs
Sissie
Btw... you said TITTY!
ReplyDeleteBJ,
ReplyDeleteOh~h~h. . .yes, this is a vision of loveliness! ! ! I bought the magazine just because the cover caught my eye!Like you, not sure all that white would be practical. I adore your wall of white with your mirrors. . .towards the end, I was getting confused which photos were yours and which were from the magazines! Who needs help? You do an amazing job!
Would somebody PLEASE dress the dress forms before photos! Gr~r~r~, where is one's modesty?
When you get a minute away from that gorgeous magazine, stop by for a visit. There's FOOD on the table...just because I knew you were stopping by!
Fondly,
Pat
BJ, I have that wonderful magazine, too. Get it every month. You could cover your books with white paper if you really want them all white. It will take a while though. ha ha
ReplyDeleteLike your home BJ, it is very beautiful and elegant.
ReplyDeleteWall of mirrors is wonderful.
Kisses and hugs.
White IS beautiful! I love Country Living BJ, it's the only magazine I always renew:@)
ReplyDeleteBJ, I need to go get a copy of this issue. I never tire of whites. Like you, I could live with a wall of whites, if only I had the wall. LOL
ReplyDeleteThanks for the heads up on this issue. ~ Sarah
I am so ready for white. I just picked up the paint card with all whites and neutrals at Lowe's yesterday. I have been living with color on my walls for the last 6 years. Still love the colors but I am ready for a change.
ReplyDeleteHugs, Sue
Oh you are so funny. I love your whites they are all wonderful and your wall of mirrors is stunning. I like the touch of color you have here and there, I think it keeps the rooms more interesting. Your home and your displays are always stunning. Hugs, Marty
ReplyDeleteGirl you don't need to change a thing in your home...the magazine doesn't have any thing on you...love the mirrored wall and the books in there shelfs and the dinning room. Trish
ReplyDeleteJust beautiful! Love that magazine and your house could easily be in Country living. You do have a talent to bring out the best in every room.Thank you for sharing your love of White on White; it is a peaceful colour.
ReplyDeleteI love all the photos you compiled here, BJ. So much eye candy!...Christine
ReplyDeleteI am smiling at you saying "titty baby" and I have no idea what that means! LOL!
ReplyDeleteI have been using Benjamin Moore's "Linen White" in several of my rooms for 20 years, and love whites. Never tire of it!
I adore your wall of white mirrors. You have an eye for decor!
I want to throw out everything in my house and replace it with whites. I am just back from dinner out and I said to Gary "I want to re-paint the dining-room creme or off-white." He just shrugged. Then he said, "You just bought a bunch of white frames and your dishes are all white so that would be too much white." "Oh, contraire, my dear" He just doesn't get the 'white' thing. Guys just don't see the beauty in white. He says it's not a colour. And by the way, he is colour-blind. That's a fact!
ReplyDeleteI love white, too Beeej. Most of my woodwork is white and all my interior doors are white.
ReplyDeleteBTW, what kind of cookies did you eat???
xoxo
Oh, BJness! You're just a hoot! :)
ReplyDeleteI love the whites too and think they're so dreaming - but they're just not me. WAAA! I wish they were. But hey, I have white dishes! That counts, doesn't it? I love seeing anything you do. Look! Another pretty header.
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
I like yours the way it is. Looks nice in the mag, but like your said, not for really living in it!
ReplyDeleteBloom where you are planted, as they say! :)
Love your white mirror wall. We have lived in an all white house for four years and couldn't wait to change and get color. It's lovely for others, but just not practical for me.
ReplyDeleteLove it all! Must run out and buy that mag. Your wall of mirrors is just so in. You go girl...
ReplyDeleteI have wanted a plate rack like that for years and haven't been able to find one.
Love your pitchers and little things. Most of them are from a magazine alright. Happy white everything.
ReplyDeleteNancy
BJ~~~we are kindred souls...eventually we will have all white and by then we may be wearing white robes.
ReplyDeleteXO,
Jane
Hey there! I agree with Jane we are indeed kindred souls! Love your post. It is beautiful. I do love white and had to laugh...I've been tempted to yank my books off my bookshelf too...I did turn all the red ones around so that the pages part shows (peeking white)instead of the red book binding...seemed to settle my nerves a bit. Love your blog my dear...your posts are always wonderful!
ReplyDeleteblessings,
Debbie
The white is beautiful but I have to agree with Mary Ann. Except for 28 years my hubby thought every wall had to be off white and furniture was beige. He let me remodel the living room to suit me this year and I love it. It is now a beautiful burnt orange heehee, I was so ready for some color in my life in my old age. Now I do want to do my bedroom in taupes and beiges. Is that close enough to ALL White? Love your photos of your home. You do a beautiful job.
ReplyDeleteHello BJ,
ReplyDeletethat was a lovely post, although I don't prefer all white. What makes a white collection in front of a white wall very nice is the play of light and shadows. You have choosen pretty pictures and I love to see, what people collect and how they display their treasures.
Have a nice week.
Greetings, Johanna
I have never been able to master the white on white design that I see and LOVE in places like Country Living. It's just stunning to me. When I have tried, it screams HELP.
ReplyDeleteI love your little red Christmas table at the end, too. You can do something valentiney next.
My girls are shaking their heads and calling this my "white period" because I have been painting the walls white. I have NEVER had white walls before but I love how my colors stand out against them and the fresh look. I still need color but the white calms it all down a bit. I agree with you BJ, white is beautiful! I love your pretty towel from Stacey, I wouldn't be able to use it, I would be so afraid of ruining it!
ReplyDeleteWow! I don't usually buy magazines. And I only sub to 'Victoria.' But gotta' go lookin' for that issue of 'Country Living'!!! :-) Thanks for the pointer.
ReplyDeleteAnd you "Sweety-Pie," do wonderful things with White! Your front hall way is sooooooooooo purrrrrrrrrrrfect. -happy sigh-
Hugs & ♥'s...
'Cause Valentine Day is coming!
Good morning,
ReplyDeleteI used to have an aversion to white walls and furniture but am coming around. While I don't think I'll ever have white walls (too many pets), I have gotten to love - for lack of a better word - beiges. I just painted my kitchen "macadamia" by Sherwin-Williams and love it. My kitchen table went from green to white and am getting used to it.
Love CL Magazine - must buy this issue.
BTW - your wording is always so cute :)
Gorgeous whites BJ....I wish I had more white. I think with all the boys in the house, I tend to stay away...but I do admire it from afar. Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteI have always liked white on the walls and woodwork. You can add so many different colors. That book sure makes me want to start spring cleaning.
ReplyDeleteYour home is every bit as lovely as those shown in CL! I love white too, but I love lots of color even more. I purposely had the living and dining room walls painted cream, so that I can do any color in there that I want. I would love to do all white for the summer months though!
ReplyDeleteThis is a wonderful collection of photos, bj. So, do you really think white is back :-). I'm so out of it that I never knew it had left. Have a wonderful day. Hugs and blessings...Mary
ReplyDeleteOh, BJ... I so wish I had not painted my DR, Kitchen, and bath as per a "stager's" suggestion. I miss my WHITE. It was the perfect backdrop for art and fabrics and antiques and even for more white. I tend to love color a lot, but I have a soft spot for white, particularly a white background.
ReplyDeleteLoved reading this, and you are not 438 years older than that girl. A mere 333, if that! ;-) I do love that DR, and I think you'vve got a good start on it.
XO,
Sheila :-)
White will never be out for me! Love all the photos!
ReplyDeleteHi bj, I am not a fan of so much white. Your whites are beautiful just the way they are. I swear, that one room looked like a store with a wall of shelves and whites. Too Much for my taste. Every time you shared your lovely rooms that I love, I think it would be a shame to change a thing. Your library wall is totally wonderful. Please do not change it for whites. Just saying...HA! I mean it though. Your home is so lovely, warm and full of the things you love. I can't imagine it any different or anything more lovely than the way it is right now. Please don't hate me for my opinion. Smile.
ReplyDeleteI want some cookies and you ate them all??? I would have done the same thing. That is why I am on a DIET!!!
Love you bunches.
Jeanne
Oh, BJ that was very inspirational! That was a very good post on white. I like that you said you might tire of the mirrored wall if it were colorful. That is a really good point. White is easy on the eyes. Such good info from this post. Very pretty!
ReplyDeleteSherry
Love your red tea table - would love to stop by and share a cup with you! Wouldn't that be fun? And I love all the white pieces, too.
ReplyDelete~Adrienne~
That is a really nice issue of County Living. Lovely post.
ReplyDeleteVery nice post, I love all the images!
ReplyDeleteAll of these photos are so very inspiring. Thanks for the visual feast!
ReplyDeleteLove,
Susan and Bentley
xxoo
I subscribe to this magazine and loved the feature on whites. I have several frames in my livingroom in white. I find it really peaceful at time. I adore the little tea towel with the scripture.
ReplyDeleteAnn
Beautiful. I love all the white, makes such a lovely statement. Happy VTT!
ReplyDeleteThat is one of my few magazines I subscribe too. Such elegant pictures, but who could keep it clean? lol Have a blessed week bj! Debbie
ReplyDeleteI adore the tea towel you got for Christmas...but because I like the pink and green, not because it's white. I guess I must have no send of style at all, because I have just never gotten the white thing---I love bright colors too much. Your Christmas table and your commentary made me smile, though!
ReplyDeleteBTW, boy am I glad I checked my last post before I hit publish, because with my usual poor keyboarding I had typed "senile" instead of "smile."
