THANKFULNESS

I'm so thankful to be the chosen mom of David and Stacy.....
they make my heart sing.
Now, this photo is 8 yrs. old...but one of my very favorites...
*
..when they were little kids, I made these simple donuts for them often.
Canned biscuits, shaped into a long roll...pinched together at the ends ...
**
...deep fried to a golden brown...
...and then a choice of toppings...
cinnamon and sugar...
powdered sugar...........
chocolate syrup or topping.......
sometimes..all three at the same time !!!
(I'm pretty sure this is ONE reason I have to walk more on my treadmill !!)
yummy !
***
NowI sometimes make them for the grands...I did mention somewhere that I am thankful for them, too.....right ?
*********
"Grandmothers are a lot like mothers...only with a lot more frosting..."

oops...who took that CHOCOLATE one.....?

That photo is gorgeous!

I used to make those donuts for the girls. Next time the g'kids are here or the lake, I hope I can remember to make them.

How are you doing?

BJ I was telling a friend the other day how we made 'doughnuts' from canned biscuits when the girls where young. It was a special treat! Love the family photo!

That brings back a special memory for me. I never knew my grandfathers, and my cousin's gpa used to make these for us during the summer at their lake cottage! He had 6 gkids of his own, but always welcomed me!
He used to say I was vaccinated with a phonograph needle cause I talked and laughed so much!
My son never had a gpa either. It is a special relationship for sure.
Thanks for the donut, BJ!

I am feeling all warm and fuzzy again! Why, because of you, dear BJ.

When my kids come home I'm making these. My husband loves donuts but I better now make them just for him, we would eat them all... no restraint on things so wonderful... and easy!
Lots of love and blessings to you and your beautiful family,
Yvonne

Loved your saying about Grandmothers. Yep, all that frosting has settled on the hips, I'm afraid! I was amused the other day at my 13-year old granddaughter. She told me how jealous she gets when I spend time with someone else besides her. We had a talk about sharing again - this time about sharing time!!! Gotta love those grandgirls. Sally

These look soooo yummy...and at the moment I am desperately craving something sweet! I'll have to try these for my grandkids...if I can stop myself from eating all of them. Did I ever mention I have this HUGE sweet tooth??? Lovely picture of your family!

I love that saying!! It's so true! My mom used to make those donuts for us too. She would press a circle out of the middle with an old Medicine bottle so we could have donut holes too. She would mix powdered sugar, vanilla and water for icing. Sometimes she would add food coloring to the icing if we were really good! Thanks for the flashback memory!!!

I love those donuts, bj. I used to make them for my kids too when they were little. I topped them with just sugar though. You are lucky to have your kids but they are also lucky to have you!...Christine

I do something similar but I bake mine. I haven't deep fried anything at home in decades...and I'm still gaining weight!

I agree, your daughter looks just like you!
