MY OLDEN CHAIR

I bought this little handmade chair several years ago in one of my favorite little antiques shop...
*DEBBIE...does this work since it wasn't really a GARAGE SALE ? Please don't throw me out of the party...!!! :)

It is the oddest little chair, ever...
*
It's not very tall...pretty low to the ground...
and the seat.....it's tiny.
**********************
I've used the chair as a bedside table...
I've used it to hold stacks of books...
I've used it to hold plants...
But never to just SIT in...
so fragile...
*
I don't even know why I keep the silly little thing !!
*

If I put a pillow on it, it has to be a really SMALL pillow..
(I love THIS little garage sale pillow....
"YOU CAN BUY BIG BOSOMS BUT A SENSE OF HUMOR IS A GIFT FROM GOD"...
haaaa...a..haaa...
**
*
The spindles on the back are very thin...and fragile.
I'm not at all sure what the wood used in the making of this
strange little chair might be....
but I like it.
*
I am not a "natural wood" lover at all ....
most times, I paint it as quick as I get it...
but I like this wood.
*
I have a vintage English chest and a dropleaf coffee table out of this
same wood and I love both of them, too.
*
*
On this H.O.T. day, during this photo shoot...
all I could think of ....
ROOT BEER FLOATS....
*

YEP...of all the cool things this little
HANDMADE, VINTAGE chair can do...
I think it can hold a ROOT BEER FLOAT
about as well as ANYthing !!

BJ, I've been a loyal follower of your blog for almost as long as I've had a blog, but when I checked the sidebar didin't see my photo. Don't know why I thought it was there all this time. Well, it's official now.
Love the little pillow and that root beer float would taste so good about right now! ~ Sarah

It seems like you have gotten a lot of uses out of that darling little chair. Who said chairs were just for sitiing in. And that pillow--my goodnes I got a good laugh out of that one.

It just does not seem right, that one person could have so many neat things to share. I like the idea of the chair to put plants on.

I want a root beer float now!!
It's been so long since I drank one of those, thanks for taking me back to sweeter times.

You little chair is sweet, but I would have already painted it white! Bet you do too.

I like the natural wood. It's good that you keep things on it so nobody will sit on it and break it.

It's a lovely old chair, and it appears you've found a lot of really terrific ways to use it. The potted flowers look really pretty on it.

There is such a pretty patina to that little wood chair. I wouldn't paint it either. I love your idea of using it as a side table to hold the books you're reading.

You always have fun things to share and I have gotten some very good ideas from you. I have been trying to put together more than meme on each post like you do. Love that little chair. I have a tiny little child's chair I keep my children's books on. I cannot find the place to click on for the giveaway. I will keep looking.

"Olden" is a word we used in my home state during my growing up years - - - haven't heard it in ages!

The root beer float looks DELICIOUS!

I love your chair....I seem to get a stern look each and every time I drag a chair home from somewhere. My husband surprised me a few weeks ago when I carried home two, he took one and put it on the front porch, and said that is where it was stayin....I just looked, shrugged my shoulders and said OK..you win!!!! ;)

Have a great VTT! and so glad you linked in today....

What makes the chair special for me is the spindles and squared off top. I can't guess a wood from a photo, but I love the look of natural woods.

That is a beautiful chair. I am like you and usually paint everything white, but I have a few pieces in my house that are old treasures or family pieces and I find the blend in very well with the white giving the room texture. Thanks for sharing. ~~Sherry~~
