I FOUND MY THRILL...

....on BLUEBERRY HILL..
FATS DOMINO....
do any of you remember him??
I saw him once, in person, and I'll NEVER forget how great he was ...
*
I wonder if he still sings ??...He's now 82 years old.
*
I saw him on television right after Katrina hit New Orleans.
Because of his wife's poor health, they DID NOT evacuate....Their home was flooded.
He was born and
has lived his whole life in New Orleans.
**
He was one of my very favorite ROCK AND ROLL singers in the 50's and 60's, with
BLUEBERRY HILL being my favorite song..
OOO, how he could WORK THAT PIANO....!!
*
I have a few of his songs on my PLAYLIST if you'd like to hear them...
*
Speaking of BLUEBERRIES...
ummm...they are EXTRA good this year.
So juicy and sweet..
They are extra good for us, too...don't cha love it when something
that TASTE so good is actually GOOD for you!!
*
I know a lot of you work outside the home and don't always have time
to make fresh BLUEBERRY Muffins for breakfast...(or any OTHER kind of muffins)
That's why I LOVE having MIXES in the house.
I DON'T work but I do remember the days when I was always in such a hurry in the
mornings that I settled for a bowl of cereal...
*
So....what I'm sayin'...
.... there's not a thing wrong with using MIXES...just ask SANDRA LEE
of SEMI HOMEMADE :))
I like to ADD things to mine to make them....uh...well...........MINE !
A tiny little bit of extra sweetness...
a cap full of PURE VANILLA
and.....in THIS case...
FRESH BLUEBERRIES...
*
...and speaking of BLUE...
*
For as long as I can remember, I have loved the color BLUE..
BLUE dishes...
BLUE clothing....
BLUEBERRY MUFFINS....:))
*
We get a lot of the ideas of things we LOVE from our mothers or someone close to us, I think.
My mom loved BLUE..
I love BLUE...
and my daughter loves BLUE !
Neither of us use the color very much in our decorating but we both have
the BLUE and white transferware...
*
These dishes I am using are the LIBERTY BLUE edition that
was sold in GROCERY STORES in the 70's.
*
They are such collector items now...
it just amazes me that if I had only been able to get my
FORE SIGHT and my HIND SIGHT together,
I could have STOCKED UP ON THIS STUFF !!
amazing !!
*
I read, on a blog somewhere, that the THRILL of the HUNT
was lessened somewhat by EBAY and such sites.
I agree...it's MUCH more fun to find your collection pieces in thrift stores,
garage sales, flea markets..
*
HOWEVER...had it not been for Ebay, I wouldn't have all the extra
plates, cups, bowls, saucers, serving pieces
to my beautiful set of LIBERTY BLUES...
*
Sooo...we just take them where we find them...
and be happy......
I'M HAPPY !!
*
"I found my thrill......on BLUEBERRY HILL...
...it lingered until......my dreams came true.."

Thanks, Mr. FATS DOMINO, for this amazing song that
had so much meaning in my young life...!
...and, as songs sometimes do, it congers up memories of an old BOYFRIEND !! :))
**
I LOVE GOOD MEMORIES...!!

Hi there BJ, I DO remember that song. My Sister will be 68 this year and she played it all the time. They used to do the stroll to it I think:) Is that the dance I am thinking of? Anyway, I saw him interviewed after Katrina also.

I keep mixes in my pantry all the time. Blueberry, strawberry, banana nut and honey bran. MY FAV is the honey bran. Love the dishes too. They are just beautiful!

Have a blessed day my friend! HUGS!

Ohhhhhhhhh, great minds run in the same way, or whatever that saying is!!! 'Blueberry Hill' by Fats Domino! I was just thinking of that song, the other day. :-)

I'm on a blog with lots of [young] fans of 'Band of Horses,' and we seem to co-habitate quite nicely. ,-) Even though I am soooooo much older than they are. [No, I don't "tell allllll," when in such Net situations. I wait 'till people accept me, for/from my writing.]

Anyway, I was thinking that if I "came clean," I could say that I'm old enough to remember being introduced to Elvis, on tv, by my first "bad boy" boyfriend. -giggles- Nooooooooo, David was NOT a "bad boy," but he looked like he was. Very 'Grease,' before it was wide spread. -gigggles-

Anyway, of course I remember Fats Domino, if I was around in those days!!!!!!! Love 'Blueberry Hill.' :-)

Btw, I've not told the 'Band of Horses' fans, my real age. And I've got some guy in Australia, wanting to meet me at Coachella in 2011. [That's a bigggggg gathering of 'today's music' makers, held in CA.] I only know about Coachella, because I follow Kristen Stewart and she attended. ,-)

He went to Coachella '09 and 'Band of Horses' appeared. Not in '10 though. So maybe they'll be there, in '11, and he says; "Why not meet them there?" -giggggggggles- Not bad for an old gal hu?

Yeah, I told 'Uncle A.' that a guy from Oz wants to meet me. Believe me, he has no worries that I'd be able to do so!!!!!!!!!!! Plus, the poor guy would probably have a heart attack. -giggles-

See how you set me off, with speaking about Fats?!?!? It's all your fault! >,-)

Gentle hugs....

The muffins are making me hungry. I just realized I have not had breakfast yet. I almost jumped in the screen to get at them. I love blue too and use to have an almost complete set of the liberty blue, but sold that because I had accumulated so much of the blue Currier and Ives by Royal. You can't keep it all you know, so the currier and Ives won out. Thanks for sharing!!!

Fats Domino also sang, Blue Monday ... sound familiar?

Happy Blue Monday, BJ.

Oh what a wonderfully delightful post,BJ. I just had a great time reading. I loved Blueberry Hill as well, because Richie Cunningham use to sing it all the time and when I was a little girl, we loved to watch Happy Days. Thank you for bringing back some good memories of my family huddled up one night a week around the silly tube watching that show.

And I adore your transferware. Liberty Blue! Oh, delightful. I have yet to find any around here. I don't look online for the pieces, either. I have searched through Ebay here and there to see what prices are for things, though. I love finding them at garage sales, or tag sales.

My Blue Monday post is about my blue transferware as well.

Thank you for the post! Now I'm off to make blueberry muffins and serve them on my blue transferware! ;-)
Thanks for the idea!

Blessings,
Susan
