Ooooh, MR. SWEEEET...BREAKFAST IS READY

I hope this is going to be a FABULOUS day for all of you.
Mine has started out wonderfully...with a pretty morning table
and a delicious breakfast, shared with MR. SWEET..
*
This is a thrifted SILVER PLATED tray I bought at a yard sale for a dollar...
and those are the hard working hands of the man of the house...
shining up this tray to be used on this fine morning...
so shiny, it looks like a mirror...
THANKS, MR. SWEET...it's lookin' goood.
I always say, "A girl can't have too many SHOES or too many TRAYS!!"
*
I do love the RED, WHITE and BLUE..
be it 4th of July or ANYtime..just a pretty summertime combo to me..
*

See how pretty the tray looks, holding a beautiful vintage glass cruet for oil or vinegar
that belonged to Mom....
I use it more to hold candles than anything else..
*
Those cute little rooster napkin holders...:)
I'm not sure just where I got them...HOBBY LOBBY, maybe ?

Vintage plates....
from my mother...
*
I think I told you once about her letting me eat from these beautiful plates
when I was very young because...
I didn't like my food touching...
I still am not crazy about it, either !!
*
COUNTRY LIVING MAGAZINE
had these bottles with FERN fronds....(theirs on the left)

I LOVE THAT !!...so, of course, I had to find some bottles
and put a few fronds of BOSTON FERN in them for my morning table...(no asparagus fern around my place)
*
Now I am on the search for a tall vintage MILK bottle...
well...I'd even like a reproduction and I'll bet I can find one of those a lot easier !
It sure would look great with fern or wild flowers....
*
don't you just love the sparkle of glass and silver..?
O....I sure do..
*
OH, and in the same COUNTRY LIVING...
I noticed they had THEIR flatware with the handles DOWN in the glass...
*
OOPS....MINE were turned the OTHER way, so OF COURSE................
(boy...talk about shallow!!) (awww...it's just all for fun, anyway!! ) ;-)
*
A burning candle...shiny silver...clean glass....texture of tealights in the jar... ferny green...
how good it all works together......

I love using JARS...and I love putting neat stuff in them....
just something a little different..love to change things up.
*
I never have a FORMAL table setting...they are so beautiful and I've had the
pleasure of drooling over some beauties here in Blogland..
*
but SWEET NOTHINGS cottage is so informal...and our tables are informal
and I delight in finding new and interesting things to use on my table that others may not use..
Just the fun of BEING DIFFERENT, I think....
I love the informal ways magazines like BETTER HOMES and GARDENS...
COUNTRY LIVING...
ROMANTIC HOMES...
show casual table settings...
and great CATALOGS are a wonderful source for ideas..
Pottery Barn being one of MY favorites.
*

OK, I've got the table set....
*
NOW IT'S TIME FOR....
BREAKFAST
*
Time for BUTTERMILK BISCUITS again...
I'll swear..... if they weren't loaded with calories, we could eat them 3 times a day...!!!
MR. SWEET'S mother actually DID make them 3 times a day...can you believe it ?
*

She was a fabulous cook...never anything fancy...just "down on the farm" stout foods...

She smoked a cigarette ever so often and she would hold it in her mouth sometimes while she was cooking...and those ashes would get almost as long as that cigarette...

I was always really watching that because I kept thinking they might fall in the food...and I sure didn't wanna eat ASHES !! :)

They never did tho...Strangest thing I'd ever seen !!.......funny, the things we remember....she was such a sweet lady and had a really cute sense of humor...we all loved her very much..
*

GRAVY...!!
Well, my gosh!!
...we love it, too...but we have to limit ourselves to only about
once a month...sometimes every couple of months....
We sometimes have the PIONEER NO FAT GRAVY but....
FACE IT....it's not as tasty as the real thing...and even the REAL thing isn't as good as
it used to be 'cause we no longer use BACON GREASE...daaaang !
*
Wonder why someone can't come up with something good for us that
has the TASTE of bacon grease ??
*
We love POLANER ALL FRUIT ...
I can just eat it with a spoon !
*

Sparkle and shine...A hot biscuit with GRAVY.....and another with JELLY...
A terrific way TO START THE DAY....

Please have a beautiful day...and know that you are loved !!
*
I'm good and full and....thinking about taking my lazy self back to bed for a little tiny nap.......
**
I'm linking with these fine memes....

THIS is also a fabulous breakfast, on our balcony..

aboard the beautiful SAPPHIRE PRINCESS, cruising into SKAGWAY, ALASKA.

(if i have already shared this photo, please excuse and chalk it up to a SENIOR MOMENT!:))

Beautiful! I'm so happy I found your blog. I'm with you -- casual table settings are so much more inviting and there are so many creative things you can do with them. I have the blue and the white to go with your red flatware -- hope to get some of my own someday. Annie

Goodness, the place setting is complex, but beautiful - the place setting arranges ad spokes is really inviting! Biscuits are fine eating, and those that look this nicely deserve additional fat calories in the form of butter. Or jam, no additional fat but plenty of sugar. If invited, I think I could find Lubbock...

BJ, he sure did shine that tray good. It is gleaming in the photos. I love the bottles with the fern fronds in them. Just a simple, but pretty display.

Your table setting is wonderful. I love the silver tray and the glass together. Putting the ferns in the bottles is just ingenius. So pretty. The divided plates are so pretty. I think my mom use to have some, but plain white. Breakfast looks fabulous. I love biscuits and gravy and homemade biscuits are the best. Great post. Thanks so much for joining TTT. Hugs, Marty

Didn't you want to steal those blue and white rope plates from your cruise breakfast? I'd love to have some like that. Also, I had to laugh about you turning your silverware upside down - I always thought you were supposed to put the utensil side down, so you could grab the handle and not contaminate the utensil part. What does Country Living know?? Have a great week. Sally

Oh My! You always set such a lovely breakfast table... You would be great with a B & B :)
( And then the bacon grease comment made me smile... my dad tells of homemade bread dipped in bacon grease & then covered with syrup for breakfast, on the farm :)
