LOVE YOU FOREVER

This is one of the SWEETEST and most heart rendering little books...ever !
*
THE AUTHOR, Robert Munsch, was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

He studied to become a Jesuit priest, but decided he would rather work with children after jobs at orphanages and daycare centers.

In 1973, he received a Master of Education in Child Studies from Tufts University. In Guelph he was encouraged to publish the many stories he made up for the children he worked with.
Munsch's wife delivered two stillborn babies in 1979 and 1980.

Out of the tragedy, he produced one of his best-known books, LOVE YOU FOREVER.

This book was listed fourth on the 2001 Publishers Weekly All-Time Best selling Children's Books list for paperbacks at 6,970,000 copies (not including the 1,049,000 hardcover copies).

The Munsches have since become adoptive parents of Julie, Andrew and Tyya.
Munsch has publicly talked about his bipolar disorder and addiction issues.
In August 2008, Munsch suffered a stroke that affected his ability to speak in normal sentences. He has recovered enough that he is able to perform live, but has put his writing career on
hold until he is fully recovered.
On May 15, 2010 Munsch revealed that he's been diagnosed as obsessive-compulsive and manic-depressive, and that he is a recovering cocaine addict and alcoholic.

I so admire someone like this that has overcome severe handicaps to push
forward toward their dreams....and make them come true.
**
I highly recomend this little children's book.
My copy is one of my prized possessions.
It's a very simply told story with so much underneath feeling, I get a huge lump
in my throat, just thinking about it. *bj
*
Like most people, I LOVE BOOKS....
*
I buy books that I want to read..
but, I must admit...
I also buy books that LOOK PRETTY...
*
I love the looks of both these thrifted books...
O, and I love these book-ends, too ! :)
SHEILA, can you LOVE book-ends?.....Well, you bet your rhinestoned reading glasses, you can !!

I do have this book and cherish my copy also. Years ago a co-worker received it when her son was graduating high school and we all read it in the ofc. I had to get on a waiting list for a copy of it at a local bookstore. I was having problems conceiving and when I did, after Matt was born I read it to him all the time. TY for this lovely post.

BJ, I have been a fan of Robert Munsch ever since my first Children's Literature class in about 1983. Never knew all of that about him though...thanks for the info. Gives me new insight into this author that I love so much.

We love Robert Munsh around here...I have that book and when my own children were wee ones, I would read it to them and try not to bawl while doing so. It is such a beautiful story.

Watched a program about Robert the other day...I collect all his books. My daughter was able to meet him when he came to the highschool a few years back.

That is my all time favorite book EVER and since becoming a mother, I cry each and every time I read it. I hope one day to hear my son read this book to his children.

I love that book! My daughter also learned the song in music class when she was 10 and we were expecting our third child. Our second (a boy) was stillborn and it was many years before we were pregnant again. When an amniocenthesis revealed we were having another boy she begged her dad to take her to the store to buy this book. Well, that little boy is now 15, and daughter is 25 with a baby of her own but I still cry every time I read this book.

By the way, if you love books my novel "False Victim" will be released August 3rd! I hope you'll give ME a try.
