Tea by the window....

TEA TIME...
*

Tea and hot whole wheat biscuits with homemade strawberry jam..
**
That pretty blue and white tea pot belonged to my mom...
It just dawned on me the other day that I had not done a tea, using this teapot...
Sooo, I got busy and prepared one
JUST FOR YOU !
**
The biscuits didn't rise as much as they do with WHITE flour...
is whole wheat flour heavier ? Surely not...
*
I have no idea in this whole wide world where my mother got this lovely piece.
There is not a marking one on the bottom....
**
One lump.....or two ?
*
I have been watching ebay for a pair of silver sugar tongs...
*
Now, why in the world would I want those?
We seldom have a fancy tea around Sweet Nothings...
Mr. Sweet doesn't like hot tea....and sure NOT with sugar.
I fix myself a cup two or three times a day but I am usually at the computer, drinking it...
*
So, I can live without silver sugar tongs...!
But....they are so pretty !!
This is a HUGE teapot...
or....wait a minute....
IS it a teapot or a COFFEE pot.?
*
**

This desk is such a delight. I love the light that comes in thru the plantation shutters that I can regulate.

It's the *perfect* spot to write a card to a friend....and have a good cup of TEA.

Sweet MARY that lives in THE LITTLE RED HOUSE makes these most delightful note cards from her very own photos. They are just breathtaking and she sells them in her ETSY SHOP.
I try to keep some on hand at all times...they are so beautiful...
check them out...you will love them!
*********
THANKS SO MUCH FOR COMING BY....

Well Lady, I have been away too long and I really have missed coming to visit with you. Maybe things are settling down around here and I can get back to blogging. I realize as I grow older, I can't do all the things I want to do.
Your mosaic is lovely as is the beautiful tea pot. Have a great day.

Get the silver tongs. It would go perfect with the setting you just created.

You create such a perfect look that you don't need silver tongs; however, if they'll make you happy, go for it! I love your mother's teapot, and I thank you for sharing it. Happy Blue Monday.

Glad the asparagus turned out so well!

Love the teapot (but you know I love blue and white) and it does look as if it does have some age and yes, I think it really is a coffeepot -- but, it's yours and if you want to serve tea in it!

There is nothing like afternoon tea -- we try to do it every afternoon at Linderhof!

Good Morning BJ Sweetie...
Oh I so love this post. So beautiful. Love the tea pot and do you have any Splenda for this diabetic? I would love a lump or two, but sadly those days are long gone.

I loved the biscuits, whole wheat are best, and yes they do weigh more. The do not rise as beautifully as the white flour, but man do they taste better. Beautiful setting BJ just beautiful. You always make it look so inviting. Thank you for sharing tea with me today.

Have a beautiful Monday sweetie and Country hugs. Much love, Sherry

You photos are lovely! But I think you really MUST have the tongs! It's one of those important items that completes your personal wishes for the ideal tea!

Enjoyed your lovely tea.
I got my small silver sugar tongs at a tea specialty shop - you might want to check one out.
Whole wheat made my scones too heavy and so I only use white flour now which isn't as nutrious but at least they're flaky.

Hi BJ, lovely tea! My husband loves hot tea, maybe not in a dainty cup, but still...:)I'm an iced tea drinker!

Kim @ Savvy Southern Style said...

What a pretty table set for tea. Love the blue and white. Yes, whole wheat flour is heavier than white. White flour has been refined and all the good stuff for you has been removed. Wheat flour still has the whole wheat and is so good for you.

Hi BJ,
I love your tea pot from your Mom. I think if the pot is large its for coffee and small for tea, that is how my sliver coffee and tea set server is.
Your biscuits look so yummy, I can almost smell them in Modesto and you have home made jelly too, I'll hop a plane and be right there!.
Have a wonderful day and big hugs for you. You are such a dear for stopping by to visit.

BJ, beautiful tea setting. That tea pot is wonderful. Someone once told me that the holes inside where the spout connects to the pot determine if it is for coffee or tea. The small holes indicate tea to help strain out the tea leaves and the larger holes indicate the pot is intended for coffee. Not sure if that's true, but it's an explanation. LOL

Hi BJ!
What a lovely tea pot/coffee pot! I like the idea of using a coffee pot for tea. Sometimes if you are really in the mood for tea... a teapot just isn't enough. :)

Hello BJ, I've been watching your blog for some time now and have left a comment or two but I figured it was time to become a REAL follower. I LOVE your Mom's tea/coffee pot...I love blue and white but the shape is so different! The sunny spot just adds to the charm and the biscuits have made me hungry so I'm going to make some toast and tea. Thank you for sharing these lovely photo's. Best Wishes Maura

Beautiful tea pot. Homemade biscuits are especially good with whole wheat flour. Yours look delicious!

Have a wonderful day.

From the Kitchen said...

Thank you for the tea! Whole wheat flour has more gluten than white flour so that was probably why your biscuits didn't rise as much. I've always found White Lily best but cannot get it in my area. The biscuits look delicious by the way. Where were you when I was in your city???? We could have had tea for sure.

Best,
Bonnie
