SPRING MANTEL

THIS is my dining room mantel, as it is today....
the look is a little sparse for me but it seems to work better in this otherwise 'busy' room...
Just time for a change..
*
I've been thinking that I might like a mirror over this mantel...
sooo...
I decided to just try one I already have to see if I might like it or not.....
*

OMGosh !
that is HORRIBLE.... !!
See how it reflects everything else in the room...
Waaay too busy!
*
NO SIR....I'm not liking this AT ALL !!
NO MIRROR over THIS mantel !..at least not a long, skinny one...
*
whew....Got that mirror down in nothing flat...
*
I like my candles in their plain glass jar...thought I'd try them here....
*
Added a little bunny here...and that bird.
*
NOPE...too much little stuff here...
*

This is looking better to me....
still not REAL sure about that fat little bird over there, tho....
hmmmmm???
*
Liking this a LOT better....
*
OOPS....it looks just like it did when I started out !
*
When you have a look you like, I guess you might as well just.....keep it ! ;>)

It's just fun playing around isn't it?

I did a lot of putzing around today, and enjoyed every minute!
Your mantel is a keeper!

Hmmm... I think a pretty shabby chic white mirror might work well there. I love everything you have except for the wreath. It's not "speaking" to me. Oh yeah, now you'll just walk right over there and take it down, right? Heeheehee

Now maybe a vertical cottagey looking mirror would work. Other than that I like your mantle just the way it is.

You are so funny showing us step by step how you did it.

Your Spring mantel is beautiful, BJ. It has a wonderful depth that is perfect for vignettes.

This cracked me up. I do the same thing all the time. I think I need a change and then the same things just wind up back in the same space, maybe just moved around a little. Your mantel vignette is just gorgeous. You just can't beat perfect. Hugs, Marty

Pretty and perfect for spring, BJ! Speaking of which... come over to my place for all the details about our fantastic international, hop and shop, online Flea Market Round-up this weekend, March 20, 21!
It's not too late for vendors to reserve a "booth" if I hear form them by Friday, March 19th!

Hi Cutie-pie!

When I can't decide what to do with my mantle (which isn't nearly as deep as yours) ... I take everything off and live with it that way for a day. It seems to give me more perspective. I love the look of candles in a clear jar ....

I love your mantel, I have found that I am liking a simpler, less cluttered look around the house, though I am having a hard time sticking to it! lol. I still need to do my spring decorating. Not enough hours in the day!

Fun post! It has definitely made me feel a little more spring-like.

Hi BJ
It's playing with a mantle isn't it? My mantle is in need of some fixing and you've inspired me to get going and do something new with it. I like how yours looks.
