My first SUNDAY FAVORITES

I have decided to play with CHARI at HAPPY TO DESIGN in her fabulous
This is where we can repost one of our favorite posts from the past...
This particular post was back in the fall when
a treasured friend came for lunch...
THANKS SO MUCH, CHARI, for hosting this wonderful meme...
*** It was a rainy, cloudy, dark, most delightful day....see how wet the pumpkins in my yard are?
I ADORE RAIN....CLOUDS....LIGHTENING....THUNDER....
The phone rang and it was a good friend from out of town...
"I'M IN TOWN....MET ME FOR LUNCH SOMEWHERE"....
I said, "Get over here, girl. I want to fix lunch for YOU!!"
"Oh, goody...I'll be right over!"
***
Now, I LOVE a pretty table...and I LOVE something different for a centerpiece...
I have these beautiful, olden goblets, just covered in the most beautiful etching...and golden rimmed.
I used these as my candle holders...and LOVED the effect....

With the candles , they were magical....
***

A beautiful golden tassel was added...
***
****
I quickly set places for my friend, Mr. Sweet and myself...
all the while, my microwave and oven were hard at work...
**
I used my new fall dishes and the vintage golden flatware...
***
Adding my little bunny gave the whimsy I love....

Then I quickly lit the little candles in the fireplace...
Vintage mantel that is my pride and joy...
NOW...these candles add NO heat....No, no, Nanette (sorry, SHEILA...I used your favorite saying!)
O, but the atmosphere they add is priceless....
***

***
Mom's vintage green goblets gave me the needed color for my table.
Just as I got the dining room all ready, the doorbell rang...
"Come on in!!"
***

We started our lunch with a hot bowl of Tomato Soup, with
freshly grated Parmesan Cheese and shredded celery and my favorite crackers.
***

Since I didn't have a single, solitary tomato in the house,
our salad consisted of little baby carrots and celery on a bed of crisp lettuce...
Ranch dressing....OF COURSE !!
***

Stuffed Anaheim peppers, fluffy baked and buttered potatoes, black-eyed peas
and a hot buttered biscuit...
***
We girls decided to just turn our chairs around, gaze at the candle light, have dessert and just talk and talk and talk....
*****nSome of you might remember that last week, I made Orange/Cranberry muffins...
I froze a few and sure was glad to get them out of the freezer and into the microwave while the
DUNKIN DONUT coffee was making.....
***

It turned out to be a great meal and the BESTest part ??
Having it with a very good friend..!!
*****************
My thankfulness:
Having the food, comfortable home and the time to spend with good, good friends.

Hello Ms BJ, That lunch looks divine. I have some juice glasses with that very same etching on them. Love them. Your blog music made me need to P**. Just trying to be silly. I enjoyed the water sounds very much. I once had spring peepers on my blog for a time. Such lovely sounds. The best things in life really are free.
