From the time we married, almost *gulp 5 DECADES,
he and I have loved CANNED CHINESE FOOD...
I know...I know...I can just hear you saying, "CANNED Chinese food...ewwwww!"
But, we really do like it...
**
I keep cans of it along with the Chinese noodles in my pantry and ever so often,
it just hits the spot for both of us... (especially when I haven't MOVED away from the front of that fire all day long and NEED a meal....quick!!) :O)
**
These are the PIONEER WOMAN'S
FRENCH BREAKFAST PUFFS... (click to get the delicious recipe!)
They sure turned out nice and pretty...
**
and almost TOO sweet for moi !!
Now, most of you know that I do love to bake and I do love sweets...
After these are baked, they are rolled in melted butter, then in a Cinnamon and Sugar mixture...
That added sugar is just a bit over the top for me....but YOU might love it..
*
The puffs themselves are delicious...hot with.....buttah.
Next time I make them, I'll omit that last rolling...but, that's just ME.....MR. SWEET likes them, extra sugar and all.....
**
But one, with a cup of hot coffee, sitting in this chair, in front of this roaring fire
sure did HIT THE SPOT....

Your home always looks so warm and cozy. I will be glad when it gets warmer here too.
Hugs,

That looks like a fabulous place to be, if you ask me!!
Mmmm....tasty AND cozy!!
:-)
We've been in front of the fire lately as well. Nothing like a quick dinner and those puffs look delish!
Hold on a second. First you threw me off with the tea AND coffee. Then you've gotta tell me you're eating slop from a can? That looks like huge clear worms? No, I can't bear the thought! That being said, I do love canned corned beef hash...
It's a stove, not a fireplace, but hey, I'll let this slide since you love it so much. It'll be the BJ fireplace.
And, I LOVE that stack of hat boxes you've got over there in the corner! This room just looks SO cozy and comfy... I wanna sit in that chair (is it big enough for my ass?) and drink your coffee. I'll take one of those puffs too. I'll skip the canned Chinese food.
Justine :o )
I have never had canned Chinese food LOL
I love visiting your blog. :) Your home is full of warmth. I'll take a biscuit and a cup of coffee. :) Have a wonderful evening.
Sandra
Hello Bj! So glad you are showing us the warmth you can create on your cold winter's night! Lovely!
You are making me hungry :0)
Dearest Sweet BJ...
A. I think I'll pass on the canned Chinese food... and
B. I'm definately trying those French Breakfast Puffs... and finally...
C. As long as you and Mr. Sweet are sharing the cozy meal beside the fireplace... all is right with the world...
hugs. Dixie
Your home looks so warm and cozy with the fire and your chair pulled up! I love a fire during the day...cold, snowy, rainy or gray (just about everyday in the winter in the Midwest!! lol)
I think your lunch looks delicious. My Mom used to make chop suey with the canned stuff (she added her own beef). We used to fight over those crunchy Chinese noodles. Yum!!
The French Puffs look so pretty under the glass dome of your cake plate. They look yummy, too!!
xoxo

It looks toasty warm at your house tonight! Those muffins are delish, I make mine with cardamom/cinnamon/sugar! The original recipe came from Cottage Street Bakery in Orleans, MA.

Your chair by the fireplace looks like the perfect place to be!
Perfect cozy spot for a cup of tea and one of those muffins. Yum! ~ Sarah
Oh if only I could get my beloved to eat veggies...LOL
Oh well, I guess one Muse can eat canned chinese just as well by herself! :)
Could you scooch your chair over just a wee bit so I can slide mine right in there next to you? What a welcoming scene......Chinese food, yummo muffins & a cozy fire...PERFECTION!
I can imagine how warm and cozy it is by that fire. I would be hard pressed to move from that spot myself. Lovely table for two.
Everything looks so inviting and toasty warm. I have wanted to try those muffins several times.
Alright now! Those puffs made me start to salivate!
I love canned Chinese, too! mmmm - bean sprouts. and microwaved egg rolls, too!
Hello BJ, I have to come say hello before I go to bed. I am busy entertaining my cousin Bob for a week. My life is just one continuing saga of company or going away. LOL. I wouldn't know what to do if something wasn't going on. I am finding it difficult to work on my quilt. I am managing somehow.
Your post is always warm and inviting. I do love your home and your delicious things you share with us. Fact...we love canned Chinese too. Our 47 years of canned Chinese has not changed. It will be 50 years before we know it.
Beverly gave me the Pioneer woman's Cookbook for Christmas. I adore it but I have not had time to use it yet.
I better say good night my dear friend.
Love, xoxo, Jeanne
I always love your posts! I am printing out the muffin recipe as I write this. Florida has been freezing and I wish I had a Franklin fireplace. I had one in Maine but whoever thought we would need them here. Have a wonderful day.
Carol
I wish I could just curl up by the fire. Your room looks so cozy and welcoming. The puffs look delicious. I've definitely got to check out the recipe.
Hey Girlfriend, thanks for the visit. I must admit, I've been tending to my farm in Farmville. Like I have the time for that. LOL. That fire looks so comfy, we could sure use that here in Florida these last couple weeks, It has been freezing.
Love Ya,
Chris
I will not acquiesce in on it. I think precise post. Expressly the title-deed attracted me to read the sound story.
Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm...
Reading...
But can't comment much...
Have a sore elbow...
It hurts to use right arm/hand...
That fire really does look so warm and inviting. YOur table is lovely and I love chinese of any kind. YOur muffins look wonderful too. So wonderful for a cold winter day. Hugs, Marty
That looks like the best seat in the house! What a wonderful place to read magazines and keep toasty warm. Can I come over?

You sure are a gal after my own heart! I just love sitting in front of my gas fireplace with a cuppa hot chocolate, a good book and a cat in my lap! One of the things I do in the winter but not in the summertime. I have been wanting to try those muffins in PW's cookbook, glad you said the extra sugar is a bit over the top, I will omit that. :o)
Kinda like my soup from a packet:) everyone don't knock 'til you try it! I have that same chinese food in my pantry right now. Enjoy that fire, all those great magazines, sweet muffins and could you please show some dust sometimes? Surely you have a speck SOMEWHERE? Enjoy your day, hugs from Georgia!
bj, I am so in love with your blog! I love it!
I tried to post today and my heart just was not in it! So...I dropped in on you and found what I needed...a quiet, warm and inviting place to share a moment with a friend!
Love and hugs,
Mona
BJ, This looks so inviting. I really want to eat one of those pretty puffs by your fireplace. Love the napkin and flatware tied with the twine - so cute! I'm going to check out that puff recipe, but I sure wish I had one of yours right now. Thanks so much for posting my party button. laurie
Oh my, but we do have similar tastes! I posted The Pioneer Woman's French Breakfast puffs this week too. To make it even funnier, growing up, Chung King from the can was my favorite 'special' store bought food from the grocery! What a treat it was. You brought back a really special memory :) Nancy
Morning BJ,
Can I just tell you how warm and welcoming your home is? I get this cozy feeling whenever I stop in. :)
Hugs,
Dena
Sometimes the oldies are the best goodies in this weather ;) Everything looks so cozy and warm there.
Gosh, I remember those cans of Chinese food from my childhood and have to admit, I didn't even know they were still around. But I'm with you and quick and easy and finally found a brand of instant potatoes we love around here. Tired of potatoes going bad before we can get to them.
A fire and those breakfast puffs sound perfect right about now!
That fireplace makes your home as warm as it is welcoming. I'm so glad you have a quick meal that allows you more fireplace time. I love the way those French breakfast puffs look. I'll have to give them a try. Have a great day, bj. I hope you enjoy Foodie Friday.
Love the look of the Breakfast Puffs.. Maybe without the suger roll? Just a cuppa coffee and a Puff.
I love canned Chinese food too. It's quick and easy and it just tastes good:>)
I've been drinking hot tea, too. I wish I had one of your puffs. Or maybe three.
XX00
They look like something I make..called Dirtbombs. I put apples in them..
I do love the sugar and cinnamon though..:)
Looks so nice and cozy!
It's soooooo cold when you move away from a real fire, isn't it?
I love Pioneer Woman's recipes. I made the brie stuffed mushrooms at New Year. Oh my! xx
I tried to give my family canned chinese food ONCE LOL!! They would not eat it...however I like it too! And I will be waiting for my chocolate I love Ghiaradelli!!!~ I am enjoying my new ventures in blogging and would love a visit:) Debbie
