I'M PARCHING PEANUTS TODAY....

Someone posted about parching peanuts last week and
that very day, a good friend of MR. SWEET'S brought him this large bag...
*
I noticed right away that these were the SALTED IN THE SHELL kind
and I don't REALLY like that kind....BUT, MR. SWEET does!!
*
I MUCH prefer just the regular, ole RAW peanuts that I can PARCH to my own taste...
**
I decided to try parching the salted ones anyway...
Single layer on a cookie sheet....
350 degrees for about 20 minutes.....
be sure to check and see that they are parched enough to suit your taste...
**
While I STILL like the unsalted ones best...
these were pretty good after parching a bit....
**

I JUST LOVE PEANUTS...DO YOU?

Hello, this evening, Ms BJ !
yes, we love peanuts here too :)
My beloved made his peanut brittle for Christmas and we had peanuts to spare..LOL...(only after I stored some away) :)

Like you, I prefer the AU NATUREL ... while my salty companion prefers the seasoned!

PS... I just read your post at my blog, for Foodie Friday.

Thank you ever so much~it was most kind, and welcoming.

My beloved still laughs uncontrollably when he talks about me writing a blog, even remotely close to the kitchen! LOL

I just finished some peanut butter toast! :) ......for Christmas, we bought my FIL a 5 lb bag of peanuts with a basket from Gooseberry Patch - one side for peanuts and one side for the empty shells....

Now you have me thinking about boiled peanuts...I love the Cajun spiced ones...

Could you explain parching. I've never heard of it. Did you just bake them for 20 minutes and does it give them a different flavor? I tell ya, you Southern girls teach me something new everyday!

Hi BJ.....goodness, I have never tried this. It sounds wonderful. I am sure my hubby would love these. I have tried to get him to eat boiled peanuts but he won't have any part of it. Ha.

Hugs, Barb ♥

Ahhhhh sweet memories of peanuts parching on the gas stove at my old homeplace. These were the best ones... homegrown:) Love that smell. Thanks for the memories. I will have to grab me a bag and parch them! Have a blessed day dear BJ!

So what does the parching do to them? Were these unroasted or something? I'm so confused! I love me some salty peanuts!

Justine :o )

I have to admit this is something I've never done. I must have missed something growing up, I'm thinking.

Everyone must just love coming to eat at your house. You always seem to have tasty treats there. I've never parched peanuts though, so I'm not sure what "parched enough to suit my taste" would be :-)Do they end up with a roasted flavor?
Blessings,
Marcia

I love all kinds of nuts but I would say that peanuts are my favorites. I love them roasted, as peanut butter, peanut cookies, peanut brittle etc., mmmhh yummy!!!

Hugs,
Julia

I do love them! I like the roasted salted kind but I have never cooked them again. Does it make them more toasty tasting?

How you doing PJ! Yes, I love pnuts and pnut brittle. My Aunt used to make homemade peanut brittle and it was so good.

Now you got me hungry for peanuts!

I love boiled peanuts. I've never tried making my own because we can't get green peanuts around here. They are all salted, roasted and slightly stale from being imported from somewhere else:)

I'll bet your house smelled good!
