NEW YEARS DAY and BLACKEYED PEAS

I was looking through my drafts for posting and realized that I had not posted about my wonderful
NEW YEAR'S DAY, 2010
*
Daughter STACY, JENT, DREW, DEEDS and BRYNNA...
BROOKS was asleep on the sofa during picture-taking time...
*
They were out of town at the time of the New Year's Eve Party,
so we got together NEW YEAR'S DAY ....
**

We made the tea in the crock...
Texas sweet tea, of course....

Made a relish tray ...with RANCH dressing.....
is this just a Texas thang or does other states use this much RANCH dressing?

Along with that veggie tray, we had
SOUTHERN CORNBREAD MUFFINS..that's the way Mr. Sweet and I like it..NO SUGAR)
SWEET CORN BREAD MUFFINS (STACY'S family love it with sugar)
LITTLE SMOKIES IN BARBQUE SAUCE (o honey!)
BLACKEYED PEAS for a full year of good luck..(and heated in my new PAULA DEEN stoneware!)
***********************************************************************************
Some of you may remember me saying that BEAUTIFUL DAUGHTER could wear a hat SOOOO well...and look soooo good in it.
Here's proof positive !

This is a man's vintage hat and you have to agree that she looked like a cool MILLION DOLLARS in it!!

The togetherness of family makes a holiday shine. As for the food, who doesn't like a Ranch dip? Were I there, those truly non-ruby pickles are the first treats I would dip!

The red beans are yummy, I always use kidney beans in my famous chili. Edible reds (and pickles, too) are stylish, cheerful and delicious - they look as delicious as they taste!

I love your post today. Family is everything and you sure treat yours extra special. The food looks so delicious, I'm with you, I don't like sugar in my cornbread and being from the south, I love me some sweet tea, sugar.

Whoa, awesome thing to win! How big is it? How the hell will she ship it?

Would you believe I've never had black eyed peas? And you call that a relish tray? To me, relish is, well.. relish. Like pickles and onions. That to me would be a veggie crudite. Maybe yours is a TX thing?

Oh, and I've never had little smokies either!

Your daughter (whole family!) is so very beautiful, and you're right, she ROCKS that hat!

Happy Belated Birthday bj. I just saw that in your bio. I loved the photos. You're blessed with a wonderful family. We have black-eyed peas on New Year's Day too, I wonder how that tradition started? I have sweet tea everyday. I'm such a tea drinker :-)
Blessings,

This is my kind of feast, full of my favorite things. I posted pics of mine on my blog, but also on my nephew's Brigade page on Facebook, so that our Southern troops in Iraq could have virtual blackeyed peas, greens and cornbread on New Year's. They loved it.

Anyway I have two burning questions? What did we used to put with our relish trays before Ranch Dressing? It's been Ranch for so long, I can't remember. Next, is there a difference between Texas Sweet Tea and Georgia Sweet Tea?

Love, love, love hats and your daughter looks tres chic in hers!

That Stacy is the cutest thing! That hat is adorable on her! That's such a good picture of her and her family. Wish Brooks had been awake so he could have been in it too.

BJ-What a good looking family! I agree with you on the cornbread--I don't think sugar is truly southern cornbread! Love the hat, but love the braid even more! It looks as if you started out the new year in the best possible way--surrounded by family and good food. Thanks for stopping by! :)

Girl I think we need Ranch by the gallon here. My son uses it to dip pizza and cheese sticks and anything else you can dip.
Everthing looks great.
