AN ITTY BITTY MAKEOVER AND VINTAGE.....

It's time for VINTAGE THINGY THURSDAY with SUZANNE
I haven't got to play in such a long time and I am
looking forward to seeing some neat VINTAGE...
**
The "makeover" mentioned here is the repainting of the built-in cabinets in my breakfast room..
Over the years, it was scratched and beginning to look pretty sad so....
I just gave it a fresh new coat of my favorite COUNTRY WHITE for the winter !
*
THE vintage mentioned here is my vintage canister set...
I have shared this in the past but thought some of my new readers would think this is cute...
And, I LOVE having CUTE around Sweet Nothings cottage !!
**
When I found it several years ago at GOODWILL, it had the natural wood colored lids and wooden knobs.
I changed THAT....mighty fast.
Using my favorite paint, I gave the lids and the wooden holder a coat of RED and added glass knobs..
*
I saw one on Ebay once that had the lids and holder painted PINK and it was adorable.
**
After painting, I washed all the canisters and lids...
and have NO candy to go in them. (some may know that we are ON A DIET..)
*
Here's a few "left from Christmas" peppermints that the grands and I LOVE....
I keep suckers, bubble gum, peanuts, crackerjacks....just whatever I have
in these and the kids LOVE it...
...and since they love it... I DO, TOO !!

I found this old magazine rack once, a long time ago, at a thrifting place...
I don't imagine it is OLDEN....just made to look that way...
but it looks pretty neat with a really great catalog of PIERRE DEUX
in it....
:O)
ALL painted and everything dusted and clean once more !
MAN..I wish someone would invent a spray that we could spray over our finished jobs and
they would STAY THAT WAY !

I guess I need to fill at least ONE of these canisters with
SUGAR FREE CANDY....
*
The rest of them are RESERVED for
GRANDKID CANDY !...the very best kind !!

You definitely saw the potential in those canisters. I love them with the red, but would have walked right past them if they were plain wood.

I love it BJ! You had such a great vision to see that canister set painted red. I wish I could do that. I have such a hard time thinking "outside the box".

Oh I have seen those canisters several times at the thrift stores around me. Now that I've seen yours I'm going to pick them up and paint them. I LOVE them. They would be perfect in my red, black and white kitchen too.

Could you please let me know what photo editor you used to get the blurry effect around your photos. I've been looking for one and can't find it. I had it on my old computer but forgot which one it was.

Thanks.
Joanne

Isn't it amazing what a fresh coat of paint can do? I'm wanting to put a fresh coat on all the walls and woodwork before spring. We've been here almost 7 years and I've bumped my white woodwork with the vaccum way too many times!

Love the canister set...it would be dangerous full of candy.

I remember those canisters, from long ago, BJ! Pretty makeover! I think there were bread boxes and towel holders to go with them.

I was thinking the other day that I needed that freshly painted feeling. It makes everything clean and 'new'!
I have a canister with granola bars for munchin. It works for me.

What a cheery spot.. I love the crisp white on the cabinets. I have canisters kind of like yours but they are hidden away cause they are outdated and ugly.. I might try to jazz them up like yours and find a place for them.
