CHRISTMAS THRIFTING...how much fun is that!!

GOODWILL....
One of my very favorite THRIFT stores anywhere...
***
By the looks of this photo I found on the net, I'd say they have been around,
helping people for a long long while...
**
Two days before Christmas, I had to drive right in front of a new GOODWILL...
I didn't plan on stopping...was just going to HONK as I drove by...
but...
something just seemed to whisper in my ear that there were THINGS in there that I just might
LOVE !!
**

How right can whispering be ???
**
THE FIRST THING I SAW..
.this beautiful, high glass dome that I KNEW would fit my vintage cake stand...
It was ONE DOLLAR....
and, believe me.....it is just beautiful and fits my stand to a tee !
OK...I know I showed it to you on Christmas Eve...
o, well....:O)
**

I AM HAPPY !!
**
Isn't this little lamp so sweet !!
I fell in love with it as soon as I heard it CALL MY NAME...."bj....ooo, bJ !!"
**
Not a single solitary thing wrong with it....
and I am totally in love forever with the little CLEAN shade....
and I even love the shiny brass...
**
wonder who told us we shouldn't love shiny brass anymore?
don't believe 'em!!
They're the same ones that said no more ficus trees...
no pretty faux ivy...
pssss....don't believe it...they can't tell us what we can love!!
**
"$1.00"
**
I said, "Ma'am??"....
....she said "One dollar..."
*
I think I passed a little gas....
**
SALLY, here's a touch of BLUE for ya....
Cute little pillow, right at home on my country bench in the entry...
.25 cents..
brand, spankin' new....
i don't get it !! ?
**
BUT....O HONEY!....
look at THESE.....
**
I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw these two heavy metal silhouettes....
THEY ARE JUST AWESOME...believe me !..... JUST AWESOME !
Candle holders......
**
SCROOGE ?
BAH HUMBUG ?
LITTLE TOM THUMB ?
**
Makes no difference...
**
I just love them...
I put them on top of my tall clock...
**

**

$6.00 for the pair...
Is there any reason I can't leave them out all year long ?

Oh My Gosh BJ...
What wonderful finds you did get. I love the sillouettes, and I say why not leave them out year round, just add a little festive ribbon to the decore for each month that we are in. I love them. I think I would have arm wrestled you for them if we had been together.

Love the little pillow, how sweet, and that darn cake cover, oh my gosh, I can't believe it. It seems they mark some things so high for ridiculous items and then things that should be marked high, they are priced dirt cheap. Go figure? I also love the little blue pillow. I love snowmen, and ofcourse blue is my favorite. Thanks for sharing all these wonderful finds. I have enjoyed checking each of them out with you. What a wonderful visit.

Country hugs sweetie and so much love...Sherry

BJ,
You are so funny!! Especially the part about passing gas!! I'm still laughing over that one, and to admit it in front of all of us, you bad girl!
Anyway, you hit the motherlode of motherlodes! Good thing you didn't pass by. I like everything.
I'm not sure why brass is treated so bad these days. I like your lamp and it looks great.
Those sillouettes are great and yes, I'd leave them out all year.

I would love to find a great cake cover like that. Yippee.

We have a new Goodwill in our area and I'm heading there tomorrow. It's one of the biggest Goodwills I have ever seen and so well organized.

I also love the new look of your blog. The pictures of you are so cute.

I don't think I could ever drive by a Goodwill...well, okay, I have, because the hubby wouldn't let me stop. But I managed to find my way back! lol!

You did great BJ girl!! I love the cake dome but I am really loving the lamp. I have a million places I would love to put that!! Just bautiful. And I don't follow the 'shouldn'ts' anymore. How boring life would be!!

Have a Happy Nesw Year, sweet lady friend. I have SO enjoyed getting to know you this past year! :-)

Happy New Year!

I passed gas too a little when you said you passed gas:) How funny! I still have some brass, 'cause I like what I like and not what I am supposed to like! My favorite lamp beside my favorite chair is brass! Anyway, enough about me... you got some good stuff cheap! You must have some rich folks living near you to give away that good stuff:) Have a blessed day and I think you can leave those cute little metal fellas out all year. Just tell everyone Ganky said it was OK!

Your GW finds are all just wonderful. I love them all. The dome is gorgeous and I love the pretty shape. Your silhouettes are unbelievable too, and that lamp is to die for along with the pillow. You did really good. Hope your Christmas was wonderful. Hugs, Marty

What great deals you got! And I love every single thing you found. Your glass dome is gorgeous and I love the little lamp, too. The snow couple on the pillow is so darling but I absolutely l.o.v.e. the silouette candleholders. You leave them out all year if you want to, my friend. They would be so cute no matter what the season. ~Adrienne~

Hi B.J. What an adorable blog you have! I love the goodwill..boy, did you hit it right or what?? Those finds w/ the prices are a gift in itself!! Love it all.

Don't see any reason at all why you couldn't use a little ivy around those candle holders and leave them out all year long! I vote for Scrooge with the hump back and Little Tom Thumb is riding on his back trying to straighten his shoulders on the other one. Just love them! And that little lamp is so neat! That glass dome for a dollar??? Just can't believe it! How in the world you ALWAYS find such cute things at the thrift stores is beyond me, but it sure is fun to watch you do it!

Loved this blog and love you!

Hope you had a wonderful Christmas.

Hot darn, you did well! I like shiny brass too...I haven't noticed Williamsburg spray painting theirs..

Now shag rugs..no thanks, that and orange and brown can stay back in the 70's!

I have never been in a Goodwill..it's on my Bucket List..It is far, but I have to go, just once!

WOW BJ, you really got some great bargains. Beautiful dome.
Here lately, our GW stores haven't had much and I've noticed a lot of over pricing, especially in the new ones. I still plunder thru them ever now and then hoping to find a "treasure". I love the old candle figures, I don't see why you can't leave them out all year if you want.

Hi BJ... Loved all your finds but my favorite was defiantly the Scrooge & Bob Crachet with Tiny Tim silhouettes!!! They were awesome... I went to the Kohl site and there were no Santa Chefs... Guess it is not meant to be... Thanks for the info my friend!

Have a Happy New Year

wow they all look great findings. We also went to goodwill last few days ago and i bought 2 toys for my son, a cute red handbag and some phonics stuff for my son. Happy blue Monday.

SmilingSally said...

Unfair! Goodwill thrift stores are unfair! The one by me is a smelly store filled with JUNK, and look what you find--so many things that I'd have bought too!

I need a glass dome, a pretty blue pillow, and a darling silhouette candlestick holder! AND, I still love bras and have some too! However, BJ, ficus tress have invasive root systems, and I don't want them near my home. Now, as for faux plants--yep, I've got plenty of those too.

Happy Blue Monday!

Those candle holders are great. Looks like you did really well at Goodwill. I've always been more partial to the Salvation Army, myself, because I've always done better there, but I always stop at the Goodwill store, just in case!

Rettabug said...

Oh my gosh, if those silhouettes don't look like they were MADE for your clock!!! BJ, they are perfect up there & yes, DO leave them out all year.
What wonderful finds you came up with, too. I scored a cake dome as well yesterday but have to take some pictures of it so I can share. We've got dark snow clouds & its too gloomy in the house for photos right now, though.

I hope you had a wonderful Christmas with family & friends. I so enjoy your humorous blog! :)

Good morning my friend. My daughter has been without service from the net and it about drove me bonkers. Christmas was over and downtime for me to relax and VISIT. NOT. It is fixed now. Hurray!!!

I drove past a Good Will on Christmas Eve day and I have been lamenting ever since. I know there were tons of 'wonderous' (if that's not a word it is now), things calling my name. Your treasures are just awesome. Oh how we love Good Will!!! I adore it all. Enjoy them BJ. Awwwww, I don't have to tell you that, you already are.

Have a wonderful Happy Healthy New Years.

Love you my sister friend, Jeanne

I love thrift stores and yard sales. I always find many pretty things and all my friends are jealous and don't really believe me I think when I say I only paid $1. We have a thrift/antiques store around here that just won't quit: an old school building was purchased by an antiques dealer and turned into a mall. It is 2-storied, still has the words "1st grade," "2nd grade", etc., over the doors to the classrooms. Each room set up like a room in a home with rugs and furniture and pictures and mirrors, but everything is for sale. The garage is a tool place for the men. So great! Google "Fritz's in Bristol South Dakota." P.S., I went to college in Texas: ACU.
