A LIGHTHEARTED AFFAIR....

My thanks, once again, to our sweet SUSAN, that goes to so much trouble to make sure we can all play with our dishes at BETWEEN NAPS ON THE PORCH..
Of course, I know you will want to go over to THE PORCH and see the eye candy that she offers up today.
There's always people standing in line to show us their tables, too....
Many thanks for coming by
SWEET NOTHINGS...
*
TODAY I decided on a lighthearted tablescape....
celebrating the last stages of SUMMER......
*

I love the watery blues and greens that so many are using right now. I actually would love to have a pretty shade of the palest aqua on my walls with snow white trim....ummm, sounds so good. But, I know ME well enough to know that I would REALLY just like to add more of the pretty color in accessories..and keep my creamy white walls.
I KNOW...I can start picking up things on sale in this delightful color...then, next Spring, add it to my living room. GOOD IDEA !!
***
Yep...this is a cute, little gift bag that's holding the felt-like flowers.
I really like the little colored pompoms around the edge of the bag.
The Dollar Store....for both.
Of course, I just realized that maybe flowers and sea shells don't really go together...?
....here at Sweet Nothings, pretty much everything goes together..!
***

Cutest little wooden fishy box..
for trinkets, I suppose....
DEEDS, the grand girl, might like this...
you know how many treasures a little seven year old darling can have.....let me see what I have around that I might tuck inside for a surprise...hmmmm??

Shells are all the rage. To tell the truth, I am not a shell person....nor a fish person,(unless, of course, I am catching them).... but sometimes, I find cute things that just seem to go with THE SEA theme..
***

That fish there ?......a little bit scary....especially that mouth !! Is he saying, "grrrrrr"?
Cool watery aqua plates...THE DOLLAR TREE
The bowl that matched just right...THE DOLLAR TREE
In fact...MOST of it came from THE DOLLAR TREE...
and it was all a dollar each..
***

The ceramic shell candle holder...THE DOLLAR TREE
***

Egg shaped salt and pepper set came from Target..another item that doesn't really GO ...ahhh, but the colors are so pretty with it all...
and the vintage golden flatware, some from MOM and some from Ebay.
***

I am loving those little bowls...I may go back for more. Just thought how cute they would be on WHITE plates, too...
GOOD GRIEF...I am totally running out of spots to stash all the cute dishes I've found...just since blogging. I am in DIRE need of a beautiful but simple PINE, olden, hand-rubbed finish, hutch. I've only been looking for IT for about 5 years...surely it is TIME.....

**

After all that shopping and putting together a cute, summery, lighthearted table..
I was thirsty !
...and I LOVE ROOT BEER...especially in a float...no ice creme right now, tho, so let's settle for crushed ice and next time, I'll do a frosted MUG!!
I PROMISE !

I so love all of you brave, strong, talented, kind-hearted and loving women and men.
You have all made my life so much fun...playing with dishes again...trying new recipes instead of all the OLD STANDBYS... trying new things in my decorating..believe me, my cottage has never looked so good.
Most of all, I know when I ask for prayers for my family and myself, you stand strong and send up the most POWERFUL tool you have...YOUR PRAYERS.
Thanks to all of you from the bottom of my heart...

Oh - I love the combination of light blue and sea shells! It is so calming.

You are so sweet to ask after Don and I. Don is kind of hanging in there.. We bask in the good news that his viral load is -0-, but those dag blasted side effects from the meds are horrible. But - he is such a trooper..he just keeps on going.

Sweet boy bought me a watch - just because...and it was the ugliest watch I have ever seen! ha ha.. but I just loved that he was thinking about me ...in all of his own misery. Now don't you go and tell him how ugly I think that watch is!

Now Miss BJ, were you channeling me? I had those very aqua dishes in my hand at $ Tree. I put them back as I wasn't sure the color would go with my place mats!.
You found the perfect bowl to go with them too!
Love all the colors and shells..very, very pretty table!

Those felt flowers in that felt bucket are just the cutest things! You shop at a lot better $ store than the one here. Those plates are so pretty. Love, love the gold flatware! This tablescape is delightful! (At my house everything goes with everything too!) laurie

I love the colors and combinations of patterns and fish box. You have eclectic taste. I might have to copy some of your table ideas. I don't have a creative gene, so I am always looking for inspiration. Thank you so much for sharing and take care.

Dollar Tree...I just was whining on another blog about a store that we don't have in Canada. Waaaaaa.
You get all the good stuff. I especially like the shell candle holders.

You know me well enough by now to know that nothing much I have "goes" with anything else. That's what's so much fun! Just putting it together and seeing what happens. And your tablescapes are always, always so charming and colorful and have me begging for more pics!

BJ,

I am so sorrry that I have missed you lately!! I've been blogging here and there and must be missing you on my blogroll. But I am here now and that is all that matters!!

This tablesetting is so bright and cheery. Isn't it the truth that blogging does take us past the everyday dishes to jazz things up a bit. Thank goodness we can mix and match or I'd be broke!! I love those bright colors (The bag with felt flowers is great, they could be party favors!!). And I do love that blue/green shade that is so popular. You are right to only add it as an accent. I don't like to fall into the "trendy trap". If everyone is doing it, I don't want to. I like to keep my walls neutral, then change things when I want with colors. I saw those plates at Dollar Tree today and I think they look fab with those napkins (and yes, the fish look like they are grimacing a bit!!)

When I was at the Dollar Tree today, I also picked up some of the sea shell tea light holders! A little late in the summer but I plan to be around next year!!

Now you are probably sorry I came, long winded me!! lol!! Take care, my sweet friend!

xoxo
Jane

Love root beer as well:-) xoxo
