TREASURES for a fun TUESDAY

Thanks to MARY at WORKS OF THE POET for hosting...

Thanks to TAM at THE GYPSY CORNER

Please visit them and their list of players..
and
THANK YOU for visiting SWEET NOTHINGS COTTAGE
***
I am offering up today, THREE OR MORE, 2ND TIME AROUND
and enough little RED spots to be able to play in the Ruby Tuesday...
*
Right now, my long entry way is painted white
and I have white, vintage mirrors on the wall..
I've had this set-up for a few years now and I am ready for...
a makeover...!!
O....I love makeovers !

I am thinking that I want to put up chair molding and do the
picture frame effect there..
then, I'd like more of a cream color above the chair molding and creamy white beneath...
Not sure at all what to do with the mirrors.....
I actually love them all white against the white wall...hmmmm*
*

This hall way is very long and so narrow that I can't use a table here...
Mr. Sweet made a shelf to use as a table, which has worked really well....
I just need some killer corbels to add to it and I'd be happy...
I prefer some old, fancy ones but haven't located those as yet..
Lowe's and Home Depot have corbels but they aren't really what I want....
I would LOVE to have your ideas on what I could do in this long, narrow hall...
would a much larger and longer shelf, with heavy corbels look good ?
If YOU had a long, narrow hall, how would YOU decorate it ???
*
A great garage sale netted this lovely, OLDEN, and somewhat worn, but, o, so soft and
very large area rug...for $15.00
The color of the RED is perfect for the room and, altho it has a tiny bit of fringe missing
(on the other end), I jumped at it for that price...
*
My third offering is another tole tray...
This is the one that appeared BLACK in color from the picture on Ebay...
Being the goofus that I am, I didn't read the description close enough
to see that it is a dark green...
My silly self was surprised when I got it but I still liked it a lot..well, not a LOT but.....
I will, however, be slower in reading the info before jumping off into the bidding !!!
The great thing....I get to search for that perfect BLACK one....again.... and THAT will be fun...
*

OOPS...I DO have 3 OR MORE treasures today...
I forgot I had added this photo until I was typing...
O, I am so in love with these wonderful iced tea spoons....
very old....very silver...very in need of polishing.
I like polished, shiny silver more than tarnished...just me...
**
A very dear friend gave these to me the other day...
they belonged to her great grandmother..and she has 2 daughters !
I said, "O, no way. These belong to your girls." But VIV said
"We have so much left to all of us that no one even wants to mess
with those spoons ..and I knew you would love them...so...here!!"
I smiled and said a gracious THANK YOU, but her girls know where the spoons are.....
and if they ever want them back........

P.S. I GET TO HAVE LUNCH WITH A FELLOW BLOGGER TOMORROW

AND I AM JUST BESIDE MYSELF.....DON'T YOU WISH YOU KNEW WHO????

BJ... wish I had some great words of wisdom for the hallway... but I don't. I have a long hallway too and I have shelves about 3 ft long each... black with old family photos framed in black... I like it, but not sure if the black is your thing... hey... maybe red!

love the tole tray... very pretty... and you know I LOVE vintage silverware... what a special gift!

Happy Week!

BJ, I love the idea of the chair rail and your vintage mirrors are so fabulous! The red rug is so pretty, fabulous price! I love the toleware tray, it is very pretty. Too bad it's not the black you are hunting for!

I got lucky with mine; I was the ONLY bidder! It's really big too, just over 27"x23". I'm still doing the happy dance! I had a beautiful shabby sage green one that I bought for $50.00 at an antique store in TX then sold a year later on ebay. Even though I got a bundle for it (almost $300.00) I still regret selling it.

How wide is your hallway? Is it too narrow for a bench?

Can't wait to see your makeover!

Tina

Hey BJ, I happen to have a long narrow entrance also. I think mine is more narrow than yours. It also doesn't have room for a table and I have always wanted to do something with it. I look forward to your makeover. I want to have lunch too:) OH that's right I live in Georgia. Enjoy your lunch!

Yes, I want to know! so will be waiting to see and read all about it. Tina at the Enchanted Rose Studio showed off her BLACK tole ware today. Also an eBay find. And the rug, what a great find, I would have snatched it up too! Will consult the vintage computer about your hallway question and see what it reveals.

BJ, I love those mirrors on the white wall. Beautiful!!

We had a long narror hallway at the farm. I used a long shelf with a narrow bench under it. It's the same bench that sits under the window, behind the table in our breakfast room. I can't wait to see what you do.

Looking forward to seeing photos of lunch!! I know you will have a great time

Love your tray. What a deal on the rug!!!

BJ, I like your ideas for your hallway. And, I would leave the mirrors white. White looks wonderful against cream walls.

Have a fun day!

Good Morning BJ! I really like your wall of mirrors. You can never go wrong with that combo. Using the wall shelf was smart too. For corbels, have you seen how some other blogger have used those resin bookends that look like corbels? I've also seen people use metal brackets all painted. I have no doubt that you and Mr. Sweet will figure somethingout.

Great steal on the rug! I don't blame you for jumping on that one.

Now, who are you eating lunch with? Hmmm.

Hi BJ,

Love your collection of mirrors. I think a longer shelf would look great. Maybe paint the wall a warmer color, so the white mirrors will pop. Maybe on Rate My Space they will have ideas for long hallways.

The rug looks great also!

Debbie :)

The collection of mirrors on the hall wall is fabulous and what a good idea. The light can bounce around on it and make your hall look larger and lighter. There a a few very nice mirrors in the collection especially the one with the shelves.

Sorry I don't have any advice for your hallway. I like the idea of the chair rail. I like your mirrors so I would have a hard time telling you to do different.
Enjoy your lunch and look forward to your post about it.

Hello BJ, My favorite color is green, all shades. Your tray is beautiful. I would decorate your narrow hallway exactly as you have it!!! Good job it is lovely. I have always been a fan of lovely mirrors in a grouping.

Your iced tea spoons are beautiful. I too like my silver polished. However, I dislike polishing of any kind. I do it anyway though. smiling.

Love your rug and the price. I am looking for a nicer rug for my great room. The one I have will do for now. The problem is my couch is majorly busy. So the rug has to be subtle, also olden, not an easy find.

I can't wait to see who you have met. You big tease. See you tomorrow. Hooray, I can visit all I want.

Love ya...Jeanne

Hello Dearheart...

Having lunch with a special friend sounds like so much fun, Darlin'! Have a sweet time!!!

Girl, I love the look of your long entry hallway...you have it decorated beautifully with all of your vintage mirrors, etc.! It's always hard to make a change when something works so well, isn't it? I have certain areas or vignettes at my place that look so good that I hate changing them but...I get tired of the same ol' same ol! Hehe! Do you know Picket (Dot)? her blog is Picket Fences. Anyway, she recently went through her entire living area and done the chair rail with the boxed mouldings underneath...it turned out absolutely gorgeous! That definitely would look so pretty down your long hallway! If I remember correctly, she painted the above portion of her walls a real pretty tan...and did the bottom portion white! It really was stunning! Since your hallway is so narrow I agree that it would be difficult to put a table there but I think your idea of a bigger and longer shelf would really work nice!!! If you decide to do this...and paint the upper wall tan...all of your white wicker mirrors would look gorgeous against that color! Well Darlin'...I sure wish you the best in your decorating endeavours!!! Whatever you do...I know it will be beautiful...you have such a talent for decor/design!!!

I love your new tole tray! Girl, you have the creamer that I've been looking for! It is the same creamer that goes with my set of white dishes that I blogged about today! I was looking on ebay for the sugar and creamer that goes with them! Can't believe that you have it! hehe!!!

Ohhh...and I love your beautiful red olden rug!!! It's gorgeous in your living room...you got a steal-of-a-deal at just $15!!! Isn't it great when something like that works out so perfectly? I'm so happy for you, Darlin!!!

I really enjoyed your post today, Sweetie!

Ooh, I love the look of your family room, BJ. It's so warm and inviting and those couches look totally comfy!

Hallway? Hmmm.. yeah, I'd think a larger, more substantial shelf with corbels could work really well for you. And I think the white mirrors will look fantastic on a bit of a darker color. I love them now, but on darker I think they'll just POP.

Justine :o )

I, too, like the mirrors, but I do understand the need for change..
Love your spoons, and your tray, even if it isn't black!

Hi Girlfriend...

Just read your sweet note that you left for me on my ironstone post...aren't you the sweetest!!! Yes...the creamer with the pretty yellow flowers in it! It's exactly like the one that goes with my set of dishes...I had a creamer and sugar but something must have happened to them while they were at my daughter's! But seriously...you don't have to send it to me!!! Hehe!!! I just thought it was so funny because I had been looking on ebay for them just an hour before I seen yours!!! You really are the sweetest!!!

Warmest wishes,
Chari
